Great tutorial as always. Thanks. Here's a little extra information about the musgrave texture node that most people don't know: Unlike most other textures the musgrave factor output is NOT limited to the range [0,1]. Depending on the settings for scale, detail etc. it outputs values around the range [-3, 3]...sometimes[-2, 2]. So you can get a lot more detail by using the map range node! To check out the range I use a math node using the 'greater than'/'less than' setting and give it a few tries.

your thumbnail included a 'split-face' stone texture on a more rectilinear surface (in addition to the sphere), which is what I need for a more architectural purpose; how would that be achieved?

Is there a way to convert the bump nodes to a displacement? Or should I mix the noises with RGBmix nodes to make a height map and then use a single bump node for normal and displacement for displacement?
@RyanKingArt
@RyanKingArt 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, you can take any texture, and put it into the height value of the displacement node, and it will be converted to displacement data.

Procedural materials are less performance friendly than usual materials. But you can bake them into a texture to help with that.

Hmm... yeah, the object coordinates, will be a bit different, but I an using them too. And if you've applied the scale, then I don't know what the issue is. maybe your objects are just a different size.
