In this quick tutorial learn to make solar flares with procedural materials. Why use complicated particle or fluid sims when you can have all the control of a material? Learn how to quickly add drivers to your shaders for animation as well as how to alter the texture coordinates to procedurally change the flare based on the position. Duplicate and reuse with ease!

The result really looks awesome. But when you try to smooth out the edges why do you make it so complicated with so many many nodes? Texture Coordinate Node, UV output into a Separate XYZ Node, Y output into Color Ramp Node. And you don't have to do that twice, because a Color Ramp doesn't have to go from black to white or white to black... it can go from black over white back to black. And with the edges black instead of white you don't have to subtract it from the emission stuff, just multiply it - don't know if that maybe helps with the weird artifacts as well (I usually work in Cycles). I know you never use the Node Wrangler Addon, but all the time you're previewing texture nodes etc. it would be so much easier to simply Shift+Ctrl+LMB on a node instead of plugging it into the emission socket, realizing you maybe need to set the strength lower, unplug the alpha and then switch everything back for the actual node setup.

wow a really great shader😲👍 This is the most beautiful sun shader I have ever seen in Blender! Great work! There is a lot of 'take-away' know-how in this single tutorial video! Your work is allways great and highly recommended. Thx for sharing your knowledge!

Absolutely amazing! I almost got it but the solar flare portion messed me up, so I opted for something else. However, just not what is being taught or what I wanted. Lord willing, I will try it again!

I was following the tutorial but then you had edited the footage and it clips, suddenly a voronoi texture was added and i couldnt continue the tutorial because i cant see whats its linked too since its out of the screen, too bad cause this was a really good tutorial otherwise, im a beginner so maybe others could guess better what to connect it to, Thanks though 👍

Damn super cool man!! Was able to follow through to the end, but how did you manage that Purplish/Blue glow in the top right for the final render? Is that another light source or something in Compositing? I must know for it adds hella atmosphere! Thank you ^_^

challenge: making a Bézier curve jump from the center of one face to the center of the other face of the sphere... making the arcs look more realistic... would that be possible? no doubt this would make the procedural solar eruption more realistic. :)

Hallo, thanks for your tutorial. I am a neophyte of blender and from almost 1 week I am trying to study and understand your work but for what concerns the flames it seems impossible to do, many parts are missing in the middle of what you explain and nothing is achieved. Is it possible to have more information? Thank you very much

you cut out some part of the flash setting somewhere 14: 55-14: 56, because of this I cannot repeat the flash on my own

Good tutorial. Please learn what the word "tutorial" means, though. I literally cannot follow it because 100 values are changed in one cut.

2:47 Blender 2.9... What's this emission strength you're talking about...? :') Ugh, how do you get that like stretched out noise that follows the direction of the shape? All I get are blurry blobs that just randomly go where they please.

No offence your tutorials are good but this is confusing stuff, you jump around, nodes appear and disappear out of thin air... I've listened to this 5 times and can't replicate what you have done. Is there any way you could send me a finished image of the node group?

Good tutorial but not good enough. Youre making this for beginners but you clip it a lot and stuff is missing to get your end result. Second tutorial i go through on your channel encountering this problem. You have to be more careful. Id rather watch a 50 minute tutorial than a 20 min that doesnt work. Downvoted sorry.
