This is the best procedural wood that I've seen! It was nice being able to follow along with how it's made. It made it easier to understand. I bought your wood pack and love it too. It would be nice to see you make other procedural materials.

Properly setting bump distance instead of bump strength was enough to earn a like. It's amazing, and sad, to see how many tutorial creators still gets this wrong. Idea for a tutorial: Show *why* distance is the parameter to adjust by comparing the output normals with that of adaptive microdisplacement (displace only). In same tutorial, can also show an example of how a "good bump map" is actually bad if previewed with adaptive microdisplacement (discontinuities show up clearly).

This was an excellent series! This is the most beautiful procedural wood ive seen. Thank you! One note, btw, you say 'and uhh' a lot. A lot.

tbh, he is doing all of this from memory or is thinking on the spot, I watched this 3 videos and my head hurts, I think we can excuse a lot of 'and uhh'

You are node magician :) this is insane. It takes me a whole life to understand nodes and build my own procedural materials such complex.

Thanks for the tutorial! It really helped me. I was wondering though, how would I bake a specular map for the wood material? I was able to bake the Diffuse, the Roughness, and the Normal for my project. But I can't figure out how to make a Specular map. I'm planning on animating a character I used the wood material on, so I need to bake everything.

put the spec map into the color of an emission shader, set the strength to 1 and bake the emit channel

You are a true master in creating the best wood in blender. This potential probably extent to more procedural material and so much more. It's sad do you presentation is hard to follow actually impossible in this video. There are parts missing. I am only saying this in the hope that you'll make better video's so more people will watch your stuff, so you'll stay more motivated so I can learn even more from you.

Is there any chance of you adding branches into this material ? That is what the knot that falls out of its hole is - a slice of the branch growing at an angle to the trunk. Yes. Even this amazing material is still missing something..... And you seem to be a person who enjoys knotty problems.
@LancePhan
@LancePhan Жыл бұрын
No, I don't plan to add knots at the moment. The wood already made use of too many nodes. I must keep the node count as low as possible to mix the wood with other textures later without breaking the node count limit.
