Processing and Spinning a Super Fine Fleece with Minimal Tools

I've been working on this Rambouillet fleece and thinking about beginners and those who haven't yet invested in the embarrassing number of tools that I have. You don't have to invest so much money in tools to spin a beautiful, very fine fleece and yarn. I hope someone gets some love out of this!

Thank you!!! I began flicking to open up some locks and drop vm before needle feling. They came out so pretty I decided to spin some. It looks almost exactly like your's color-wise, including the stripes of lighter and darker across the lock (East Fresian, though) so I'm super excited to start spinning

Thank you for this video and butt spinning 😅. I am a new spinner and have been working my way through a Shetland fleece that I flicked; I’ve tried making rolags, spinning from the cloud, spinning from the fold, spinning from the fold in a sort of funny, loose way of holding it and longdraw. It was all pretty tricky and made me decided that I didn’t really like Shetland. I am on my last 250grams and I found this video, spinning from the butt end with a short backward draw is like magic, super enjoyable and the single is really nice! I don’t know that I’m in love with Shetland or this particular one but your video made me feel like I could stop fighting with the wool! 6:01

I've been very happy with the results just using a cheap hair comb! I think we get persuaded we need things we really don't.

We totally get persuaded of that. It seems like the finer the fleece, the less I should handle it. Still learning after 11 years :S.

My first bit of unwashed fleece is in the mail in its way to me (who even AM I?) and I don’t have a flicker, but I have a very nice set of hand carders. Can I use those on each lock?

Yes. You could use a hand carder. You might just want to use one teeth up and kind of bounce the lock off the teeth instead just to protect your hands
