I melon balled my cantaloupe yesterday to snack on! I even gave the chickens a tiny bit to try! They are getting so funny. We put stepping stones of sorts into the garden area and where the greenhouse compost and chickens are. The stones were actually some of the logs that our house is made out of. Someone before us cut out some of them to enlarge a doorway. We decided to reuse rather than burn! We buried them so just the tops show. And we also got almost everything in the greenhouse transferred to the small garden. We still have more space to clear to plant the rest. We will probably work on it today!

Very pretty peach colored watermelon. I've not seen one before. I have a quick question: I notice when you heart a comment you don't also click on the thumbs up. Is there a reason why you choose not to? Just curious. 😊

I don't know why I do that. I prefer to heart everyone's comments to share the love.

I absolutely agree with washing your fruits and produce. Years ago I was watching something on TV and I can't remember if it was a man or woman but they were cutting up some fruit or produce and nicked their finger. I vaguely remember the details except when they went to the hospital the surgeons were like fighting to remove the skin/flesh to get ahead of the whatever it was. Some type of bacteria or something that is very fast acting and eats your flesh. All I know is after watching that I wash my fruit and produce! You can use baking soda and vinegar to wash but regular water they say works just fine and a scrub brush. Water bath for the soft stuff swirled around. It is also good to get any pesticides off as well!

You just brought back a old memory. My grandmother used to have me scoop out melons into a avocado colored bowl, which I still have today. Also, it came with matching glasses. She had me set the picnic table for lunch during the summer time. It was great eating outside under a great big maple tree in my grandparent's back yard.😎👍

I got fresh peaches at the farmers' market this morning after I looked them up. I was surprised to learn that peaches are on the list of OK fruits (in moderation of course) . I'm a type 2 but have lowered my A1C down to pre-diabetic numbers but cutting out just about all carbs. So I enjoyed that special treat! But William is right, watermelon is up there with fruits to avoid. As always consult with your physician and possibly a dietician for food management in your case.

@@djursholmsflicka indeed pinapples are another, but if i really was faced with them i would really only have a small taste and dont buy. Goid on you getting down to pre diabetic 👏

Does an orange watermelon taste exactly the same as a red one?

So the farm that you went to is it the one you grew up on and does your family still own it?

No, it is not the same but we did buy things we did not grow from them all the time.
