I have always played Pearl, no experience with Tama until recently. I am blown away with the sound and craftsmanship of Tama drums.

I was a pearl guy as a kid until I got to know a professional drummer. He very carefully allowed me to play his Tama kit, lol. Pearl still makes an excellent drum, but Tama is better.

Nothing is better than a Tama drumset for an absolute Stewart Copeland fan ❤❤❤❤❤. Moreover, the legend says that the unmatched Alex Van Halen snare sound comes from a Tama Rosewood snare. To my ears it's the best sounding snare of all times ❤❤❤.
American guitars, British amps, Japanese drums, and Turkish cymbals, and your band has the best of the best!

American guitars have mostly been subpar for a very long time. I'll take MIJ guitars over American any day.
@rockerseven6 ай бұрын
@MattTee1975 I wouldn't say they're subpar. If anything, foreign made guitars have just become much better, so it makes American guitars seem not as worth the price if you can get one almost just as good for a fraction of the price. I myself have a Chinese made Epiphone and Indonesian made Ibanez bass that are both less than 10 years old, and both are great, but still not as good as my American made Fender Strat. (Though, worth noting that Strat is 25 years old)
@bassyey5 ай бұрын
lol I don't trust lazy american workers for guitars, except Suhr and Musicman. Japanese guitars all day. Did a side-by-side comparison of Fender Performer Jazz bass and ESP Edwards AMAZE, Performer looked like a Squier. Massive neck gap, tooling marks on fretboard, trash nut work, uncrowned frets. Squier quality with US pricing. I picked up the AMAZE.
Tama is one of the best drum kit brands around ...so glad to know they're still making those drum kits in Japan...not unlike other musical brands like Epiphone and Fender which have outsourced their manufacturing to China !!!!
@ElysetheEevee9 ай бұрын
There are some outsourced versions that are good. Such as for Fender, my dad always said the Mexican versions are better than some of the other ones. He still plays professionally in his bands with live shows and has a recording studio as his retired work. Not everything from China is bad. Chinese Fender guitars aren't even the worst variation there is, at least used to be (I've been out of the musical loop for a few years now).

Tama also has outsourced to China on their mass produced professional line (Starclassic). The series shown here (Star) is their flagship so it's still made in Japan. In all cases though, Tama's Japanese craftsmen trained the folks in the China and they make fantastic gear in the Chinese factory. It's really a marvel the quality that's coming out of that factory.

Been playing Tama since I was 12 because of Stewart Copeland. I’m 53 and have been a proud endorser for 15 years. I won’t try and sell you on the expensive stuff. But if you buy any Tama mid line brand, you won’t get better sounding drums or durability for the price. That’s my spiel. Peace!
