The i7-11700k was the midrange Rocket Lake CPU launched in March of this year. Throughout the roughly 7 months that it's been out, it's been hated and loved. But, how does it perform, and is it worth picking one up if you find it for the right price?
Building a Budget PC can be tough. Not only are GPUs and CPUs so incredibly expensive, but they can be hard to find on a budget... But, there are tips and tricks to finding you your dream Budget GPU, and pairing it with a CPU that will give you the performance you want!
Also, if you're reading this far - I've got more content coming!

idk but iam very pleased with my i7 11700k. running more than solid... very low temp and cpu usage for games but okay nearly every cpu is useful these days for few years of gaming. there was a time there u have to choose between 500 mhz or 733mhz cpu... thats was huge xD.. but today... nearly all cpu's have more power than u need nowadays. ofc there are some shitty ones^^ but mostly...

I have the Intel 11700k excellent performance loving it. It just draws more power and runs hot using the FUMA 2 cooler and getting around 68c to 75c in game or stress testing on INTEL XTU and my idle temps are around 40c to 45c also remember the fact that Z590 mobos OC this you will have to reduce the power draw to get the desired temps. Im after some advice... I currently have a 10400 in an ASrock Steel Legend B560 board, the cooler is a Cosrair 240 size AIO (way OTT i know) i would like to upgrade to either a 11700 or 11900, price difference here is just abour £30. Is the 11900 worth it over the 11700 considering how similar they are in price. Id also like to upgrade the storage to Gen 4. the Steel Legend board wont allow any M.2 in the first slot and I think this is due to the fact my cpu is a 10th gen which doesnt support 4th gen M.2, is that right?

The 11700 performs identically in 99% of scenarios thanks to power and temperature limits. I’d go with the i7 just to save a little money, then reinvest the saved money into another component like ram. Edit: yes the 11th gen are the first Intel CPUs to support PCIe gen 4!

11th gen i7 is hated due to the expectations for it to be a lot better than 10th gen which it isn't, other than having a much better integrated GPU that's about all. But judged by itself i7-11700K is still a very good CPU for the price.

Since I switched to a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 I have to really try hard to get it above 65C. That's running Turbo Boost Max 3 and TVB wide open. With a Hyper 212 EVO V2 it would bump against my self-imposed 85C limit all the time when doing heavy multithreading (mostly processing raw photos). Cooling really does make a difference. You need a cooler that can handle 200+ Watt peak loads.

Got myself an 11700KF combined with MSI Z590 tomahawk wifi and 32 Gb 3200Mhz ram. I'm loving it. I'm rocking the Noctua NH-D15 Chomax black and that thing is super silent and cools my cpu perfectly. 40% fan speed idling, you don't even hear it. You're comparing Skylake vs. Cypress Cove and noting the IPC uplift, yet the 9900K is not the newest Skylake chip. Also, you've overclocked the 11700K. A fair comparison would be the 10700K vs. 11700K at stock speeds. There's lots of reviews that show there's barely - if any - gain. I think a more interesting video would've been to compare stock 11700K with all-core 5GHz overclocked 11700K.
@ProceuTech
@ProceuTech 2 жыл бұрын
That’s true. I should have noted that it was the most recent skylake chip I have :p. Kind of a brain zap on my part, however either way, Skylake is still Skylake. Instruction support remained mostly unchanged. All that was changed was the dimensions of the die, which allowed for improved thermal headroom and higher clocks. I understand what you are saying! Edit: I also want to add that the i9-9900k was clocked to 5GHz all core, as was the 11700k!

@@ProceuTech that explains, indeed we don't all have all generations of Intel CPUs laying around 🙂 Still, I liked how your video went a bit more in-depth about Cypress Cove. As I said, it would be interesting to explore some more about the behavior of the chip. For instance, I'm currently using a i7-12700F, and what's curious is how the frequencies drop when it gets hot, yet it draws the same amount of power. So apparently, it starts wasting power as it gets hot. In comparison, I've got a i7-8086K that sticks to the same frequency & wattage, no matter if it's close to its thermal limits. The Rocket Lake chips must also have their own peculiarities, which don't show up in benchmarks geared towards maximum performance.

I got this chip for $199 with a free ASUS motherboard from Microcenter. I couldn't pass that deal up. I have a ryzen 3800 build that I built a few years ago. I spent most of my day building the PC. Tomorrow I marry up the RTX 3070 to this new rig, and load it up. I just ran out of time today. But man, what a hell of a deal. I wasn't planning on building a new PC, but I couldn't pass up the deal at this price, and got suckered into buying a 3070 while I was at it, and a Lian Lang case. I spent more overall than I was planning, but I love building new PCs. My other ryzen build has an RTX 3080. Well, two nice video cards and PC's after waiting over 2 years for GPU prices to go down. I'm using the intel build for my living room. I need to update the Ryzen 3800x to a 5700x or the 3d version to keep my AM4 build relevant for the next few years.

On the "Tweeker" tab of the BIOS, Set CPU Upgrade to 'Advanced', Enable XMP, go into 'Advanced CPU Settings' and turn on Turbo Boost and Turbo Boost Max, and you'll be at 4.9GHz without any real tinkering at all. Make sure your memory XMP settings are correctly read by the BIOS, enter them manually if not. Be sure you have a strong cooling solution that can handle 200+ Watts TDP. The Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE is probably the best deal around for a 200W+ cooler.

Only about for previous Review about Andtech (i don't know name write like this), but reality "extreme temperature and consume" not son much extreme liked Andtech says. I would go for the 11700k. It has PCI-e 4.0, higher IPC, and also features a 3200 MHz memory controller as opposed to the 2933 MHz controller found on the 10700k! The 11700k is a more powerful chip than the 10700k.

the hate is just BS from idiot influencers and fanboys. All reviewers have gone out of their way to make it look bad with their comparisons, always choosing a competitor that does better at one thing. i think it's because the reviewers don't like it going back to 14nm, which is just theory , they all get baked at the same process , but they all call it with a different indicator, 7nm amd = 10/14nm intel. Established reviewer idiots who think they have leverage with intel by breaking them down, lol. They have a million subscribers and they think they have become god or something who can demand things from their idols, and dictate their followers. The youtube ministers and their faith channels....that's what the big channels have become.

And he saids the "extreme consume", "300W" and "extreme temperature", "104°C" are totally unreal and exagereted, people just with Andtech pre-review crucifed this CPU. It's not less consume right, but my friend, he put extreme Benchmarks at CPU for considereted time: 30 minutes, maximun consume like 230W at 100% for a few minutes. On real life don't stress a CPU liked that and tempeture inclusive with a top Air Cooler liked Noctua NH-D15 or Dark Rock Pro 4 it's like 90°C.
