This Jr. seems terrifying. Torpedo paints pretty well, Jr. loves throwing out subs, Jr. paints well, Wave Breaker controls a ton of space. It’s gonna be a menace in solo because people just don’t know how to deal with Jr in my experience

Interesting… Jr. is one of my go to weapons for turf war and splat zones, along with regular Splattershot. I have been surprised sometimes with how many splats Jr. would get, even though I still lose easily to better players. I chalked it up to teams with new players before, but it must be more common than I think if other players are observing it. I wonder why some people have issues dealing with Jr.s. The “painting” weapon player being more aggressive than expected? Getting to much tunnel vision to remember to watch for sharking? The Jr.s spread making dodging harder? I wonder….

@@corvidaegudmund1186 I think it has to do with the fact it’s good at painting and still has a good kill time. It’s much easier to approach an enemy if you have a good painting weapon. And since jr can still kill, it’s a pretty big threat up close, especially with ninja squid.

I co-main jr but I think losing splat bomb is gonna hurt it more than the rest of this helps it. This'll definitely be good in solo, but bubbler is more useful overall in 90% of situations than wave breaker is, and splat bomb is so good with jr

@@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 I agree. I play aggressively with the Jr and I'd say 50% of my kills are from the Splat bombs. Not having the ability to get those quick kills and the Big Bubbler as a protection to secure areas will be detrimental for me.

This does everything an alt kit should do. It creates an alternate playstyle without having a massive gap in usefulness. The idea of a support that specializes in location and giving intel to your team is so cool and probably my favorite jr kit we've ever seen. Definitely going to check this one out. They definitely saved the best for last with the kit reveals

^ this! while i wanted ink storm as it's special no matter what, im still very happy with this kit solely because it's practically a 180 of the original (which i love, but am very tired of playstyle-wise due to it being my main) let what they're doing for Jr's kits so far be the shining example of what they should* be doing for every new weapon introduced

@@Inmortuae2233 ink storm can't be broken and eventually kill you if you're careless so it isn't completely ouclassed. It also stays really long and covers up enemy ink that they could swim in.

A weapon that can actually place Wave Breaker _directly_ where it wants to take fights is awesome. You could throw out two torpedoes and a wave and suddenly everyone in the area has to play a Mario Party minigame right in front of you!

As a non dapple player I don’t know what I’m talking about, but it seems like reefslider, while better on tetras, is still pretty decent on dapples. Just because they’re outclassed doesn’t mean you have to use tetras if you don’t like them

honestly imo, both kits can be aggressive or supportive, just in slightly different ways, vjr uses bubble to keep itself or its team alive depending on if its going on offense or defense, cjr is kinda the same in a way

to be supportive with jr or cjr just stay back and use your special and bombs to help your team, or if trying to be aggressive use your bubbler way out there to keep yourself alive or allow teammates to jump in far out there, with wave just use it and torpedo to be the most annoying thing ever to be alive

Also just the pure fact that this is the shortest range weapon to have wave breaker is nice. Im gonna be happy to see more torpedos, mostly cuz the only weapons so far are Goo-tuber and splatana wiper, with this being way more beginner friendly. Even from a non competitive ppoint, this is a great addition

This is my first time hearing of the custom jr's new kit and it's reminding me of kensa jr, one of my favorites from Splatoon 2. Hope they give jr the different looking tank again, it was a nice little bit of detail that shows people who don't know that its tank is in fact 10% larger

Main reason I like wave breaker is just the fact most people tend to overextend and get out of position to try to destroy it first. Fully ignoring the revved up heavy splatling waiting for them to take the bait.

throwing down a wavebreaker and then throwing out a torpedo sounds really good because it would create 2 distractions having to jump around the waves and shooting torpedo at the same time will mess up opponents positions, creating an opening to splat them

My prayers have been answered, my main from Splat2 is back and with a really interesting kit, I will miss the auto bombs and rain but torpedo is literally a step up from autobombs and wave breaker can be really good if used right so excited to play with it again

I agree with the list at the start, especially Gap, it's a lot better than HUGE GAP. Jokes aside, as a Jr secondary this kit interests me. What I liked the most about S2 vanilla Jr was that I could use the special and go on with the game instead of having to stay around it like in S3 (yes I'm lame). This new kit will allow it to do the same thing, just placing the Wave Breaker and going around a much larger area than Big Bubbler.

This has nothing to do with the CJR but the patch notes because I feel like it's worth pointing out. Nintendo did this thing in there where they summarized some goals they had with what they were doing for the balance changes and one of the things they pointed out that they were aiming to do was, to paraphrase, start trying to get rid of missile spam. I think it's really exciting to see that because this means Nintendo sees the problem and might eventually try and do something to fix it

I'm really excited for this weapon I've loved playing the jr. Since 2 and I even got 5 stars on it now in 3. I also really liked playing the Jr aggressively after I pop bubbler, so the fact that I now have the aggressiveness of the Kensa with the I:P hacking abilities of the Splatoon 1 Jr. Is insane. I'm definitely getting into competitive play with this monstrosity

played some custom junior in turf (after a long while of playing stringers as my mains) and good lord this thing truly kills. phenomenal weapon. im a new player (got 3 on launch as my first) and it feels good to go back to the junior after a long period and noticing how ive improved. love torpedo, hilarious sub weapon. love to make enemies flail around helplessly as they have to deal with my junior painting their path to safety and the torpedo doing the exact same thing at the same time

Wave Breaker on my first experience was my least favorite special, I thought it was weak and so easy to break, but I main dualie squelchers so I used it more and more, learned about placement and now I have to admit it's one of my favorites, I love how much it can do, I'm super looking forward to this kit, regular Junior is a fun weapon to mess with with it's vanilla kit!

This was actually the kit I hoped the Jr. would get back when I was speculating with friends since it would be a full supportive recon themed Jr. that was is a hybrid between the Custom Jr from Splatoon 1 (instead of Echolocater it's Wave Breaker) and Kensa Jr (due to the Torpedo). My hopes became reality and I'm looking forward to using this along with the Vanilla Jr, Zink Mini, and Heavy.

this is gonna be a scary weapon because since it has good paint and a big ink tank you can equip a bit of ink recovery and special up so you can throw lots of toredos and wave breakers range will increase by a decent amount, so not exactly good area control but good area annoyance

i figured it wouldn't be missile because while that would be good chara wouldn't be happy about it so I figured it would be booyah bomb with burst bomb or something. a really nice kit that we've seen with aerospray in 2 only problem with it was that it was an aerospray but giving Jr a burst bomb would literally fill its last gap which is its inability to fight well.

My issue with this kit is that it could have been on any paint spam weapon as the Jr's ink efficiency niche isn't really benefitting from Torpedo.. I'd have even taken Angle Shooter over it just to have the funny cheap triple Angle Shooter thing going on. I assume that Jr will get a third kit and I sincerely hope it's Burst/Wail, triple bursts + wail refill and chip sounds horrifying and I'm here for it
