I think Super Chump will always be a bit underpowered in solo queue. On a coordinated team it could be very helpful in getting people to super jump into a location. However, in solo queue you kinda just have to spam the “This Way!” button and hope your teammates get the idea. It has only been out a few days so maybe I’m wrong on that though.

i use it to distract when soloing, if i aim it at the opposing base at least a couple people will turn around to get rid of the balloon things, which makes it easier to take over mid if struggling

Super Chump's main 'weakness' in solo queue is that you need 3 people for it to work as the devs intended. You need: 1)the Super Chump user(since the chump has a minimum range of deployment) 2) Someone to superjump to 3) Someone superjumping to #2. Technically you can cut out the middleman and be #3, but with the current chump weps being short-ranged, I highly doubt you'll be far back enough where you'll need to superjump AND have special.

Super Chump works very well as a cheap, distracting special (that I think is great for zones in situations) and ofc anything with the survivability and sheer AGGRESION of Kraken is gonna thrive in the meta.

If you can coordinate it correctly, Super Chump is really useful for pushing an objective, since the enemy team has to focus on both the bombs and your team, plus if the enemy lets the bombs go off, it severely hinders their mobility from how much paint it has. But that's only if you have teamwork, which is seldom found in solo queue.

I’ve been using the heck out of krak-on roller and I’m so glad that I get to experience kraken in splat3. I’m just trying to get used to using beacon instead of curling lol

I’ve actually gotten really good at it and now play krak-on better than splat. Always have at least one for you and teammates to jump safely, and the other ones you can have on flanks to change up where you take map and get out of sticky situations which is really handy as a roller. Also highly underrated tech is putting them in important but unsafe spots like behind cover in mid or in enemy backline behind one wall, rollers can shark them as easy bait, but also if a teammate or yourself gets the jump off you get a ton of value. Don’t forget you can avoid a lot of specials with a super jump too. The recon ability of beakon is of course semi useful. So far I’ve found that people saying beakon on frontline is bad have definitely not played it enough. Sure, roller and dapples definitely aren’t the best main weapons and could use help from a sub. But you can definitely get a lot of value from frontline beakon. Hopefully the main weps get a little buff next patch and this is my main for life.

I've barely ever played roller in actual matches outside of the training room, but I tried Krak-on yesterday and had so much fun. Even managed to win 2 out of the 3 matches I played, despite being pretty much a Roller noob. Did take a bit to get used to the beacons too though lol, coming from playing mostly weapons with splat or suction bombs I'd often try to just throw a Splat bomb out in fights only to place a random beacon instead. XD

The punishment is that they have to expose themselves. Idk if the balloons damaging when shot is a good idea, it'd just incentivize players to run away from the chumps and not shoot them down at all

Making them explode when destroyed probably won't solve the problem of someone camping a spot, if the person camping is smart they're going to do it from pretty far away to begin with. I think as it is now, it would control way too much space for too long if destroying them could set off the explosion, the number of chumps would need to be lowered or something.

Stamp needs a major buff, Reefslider needs something even MORE than that, and Kraken needs to be unable to carry clams AND be pushed around more (especially on tower and by slower weapons) Chump could use a shorter timer buff IMO but that's just me

I really wish they gave kraken or chump to the new L3. I'm still probably gonna main it because all I've ever wanted in this game is an L3 with a real bomb. And burst works really well with it. I just wish it got something aside from hammer. I don't even usually bother swinging the hammer, I get so many specials per game with L3 that I pretty much just throw them 8-9 tikes a game haha

​@@eigengraul I think they didn't wanna give kraken to too many weapons off rip bc it was very broken in splatoon 1 and I wouldn't consider the changes to Kraken necessarily a nerf and if too many weapons ended up with it by the time Nintendo realized it was too strong (missiles in splat 2) it would be the end of splatoon 3 really early into its exisistence. Also, Im tired of the stamp slander its not even that bad. Use ninja squid with it so u can sneak up on people and get that one hit jump swing. I was playing L-3 earlier and I literally was mopping the floor with everyone with it. I think people fail to understand that Chara's perspective on a special or weapon will differ from ours bc he is playing in a competitive environment where he's actually able to communicate with his team as opposed to solo queue where majority players don't really know how to move well and the fact they can shoot stamp from the front if they angle there weapons at their feet

@@unl3ash3d95 all fair points, i don't disagree with you at all, i just kinda wanted more weapons with the specials that we don't have as many of for the sake of variety (like how there were literally only two with inkjet for a while, compared with all the other specials having at least a few). i loved l-3 with kraken so i was looking forward to it and i was a bit annoyed when it didn't happen. i also just don't personally vibe with the special. i recognize its versatility, but i just never got the hang of it. again though, totally valid for it to not be on literally every new weapon in case it demolishes the game balance, i just was personally a bit miffed bc it's not my cup of tea 👍

Kraken is way more fun and better to use than stamp and I would’ve loved to see it on L-3 too bc I played both the kensa and L-3D in splatoon 2 and burst bomb on it was already fun and making it have kraken would’ve been the cherry on top but it is what it is I guess. Next season, it’ll be put on a lot more weapons tho so don’t worry but for now, we’re gonna have to use 96 if we wanna use kraken bc I don’t think a roller with beacon is gonna see much use in the longevity of this game

Kraken is easier to tame with fast weapons. I personally had no issue keeping one at bay with my Zink Mini, but trying to keep it in check with Trislosher or .96 gal is torturous.

The kraken is only op not because of its maneuverability and damage, it's the stall factor and that nothing can really stop it even with the lag. They usually run away to not get killed anyway so the drawbacks are not that big.

Even if Kraken might be really broken, the thing is it's also just SO FREAKING FUN! Like, this is probably the most fun I've had with a special in a LONG time, maybe even ever. Even dealing with it has been fun so far, outplaying a Kraken and then punishing it once it's done is a really satisfying play to pull off. I'd rather deal with double Kraken than double Crab, that's for sure.

My only complaint with kraken is how busted it is in clam blitz and Tower control cuz ppl can just pop a kraken to get in with team and can hold the goal since kraken is invincible so its honestly v annoying in that mode and they are a nuisance in tc for how easy it is to stall the objective even tho it's easier to push them off the tower. Other than that no complaints and I think both kraken and super chump are good specials imo (I want more about how super chump works cuz I'm still a bit confused but it's a really good displacement tool)

​@@dr.happyfuntimes1214 True but its a bit hard to get near them on some maps since pushing back a kraken without a special isn't easy so you might have to swim away and then try and mince them after the cool down and it's harder if your entire team is dead or spread out with short range weapons since the enemy team can push in with the kraken and pick you off. It's not too bad dodging kraken at least for me but it can be frustrating on other maps especially if I'm using a heavy weight weapon.

Kraken is INSANE but it does feel somewhat balanced. It isn’t a panic button (especially with that startup and LONG end lag) and is not affected by Swim Speed Up/Ninja Squid like the first game. But when it is out, you are more or less unstoppable and can outright SHRED other specials. A slow but unstoppable special that can function as a counter to some other specials.

Another thing is Kraken is just really FUN. Like, it's some of the most fun I've had with a special in a long time. Even dealing with one and trying to outplay it can be pretty fun. Maybe the special could be better balanced but it really nails the fun factor, way more fun than having a bajillion crabs or something.

btw on chumps. all 12 chumps will always land on the map. For exampe, if you go to a corner and shoot really close to it, you'll have an extremely dense cluster. Because the chumps are coded to always land and if there is not enough space to do the normal spread, the game just has to place them closer to each other. Haven't thought of a good use for it (maybe shoot at a corner and have a teammate super jump to you in the middle of the cluster?), but that's just what I found out. edit: forgor to write this, but this applies to death pit corners seen on most maps, they will not fly outside the game area.

Super Chump and Kraken actually work together surprisingly well. Kraken can go in deep on an enemy base, and then teammates can jump on it after the Chumps have been launched.

super chump imo is fine as is. it works just as intended. it's not a killing special and you need to divert your attention to pop them. kraken however... I think this thing needs a cool down on the charge. like you said, there's no point in taming it if it's coming for you

Since I got the game recently (and completed the campaign before ever touching multiplayer) I basically started with these new changes. Can I just say I love the N-Zap 89. It is such a fun weapon to use, and the combo of auto bomb and super chump is perfect for taking focus away from you/punishing people focusing on you.

My personal opinion on kraken is that it perfectly fits the role of *the OP meta special,* but it's just so cool that they gave is to mid main weapons, both without bombs and not great paint. The game needs to have broken main weapons and special weapons (like squeezer or somewhat splash), but you just can't give them the tools they need (foil squeezer or vsplash). Imagine is splash had something like curling bomb. It basically COULDNT be run in more than a 2 of, and even the 2 of comps would be very limited. Right now, you can't really run a double kraken comp for the same reason. I CANT WAIT FOR FOIL SQUEEZER OR SOME OTHER META SHOOTER TO BE SPLAT BOMB + 180p KRAKEN YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

So my view on the super chump: at the moment I would say it's underpowered, but it's not useless. In solos treat it as a way to distract the enemy in the middle of a fight, they'll have to make a choice between getting rid of the decoys or falling back. With this in mind, I personally would buff them by either reducing how long decoys take to 'arm' or by increasing their health.

The only way I have managed to somewhat reliably evade a kraken is to wait until they roll at you and then doge roll out of the way repetitivepey with dualies.

You know something is OP when the only counter play is to run away or wait it out. At least in Splatoon 1 you could tame the kraken, especially if you had a splatling or shooter but now you can't even do that.

Super Chumps seem strong... in a coordinated environment. In solo Q they feel extremely weak, at least to me. I can see a coordinated pro team making great plays using the chaos they can cause, but your typical anarchy battle or mid level X rank battle isn't gonna see them winning any games, at least in my opinion.
