@@97336cf you don't start any burnout with brakes mate, that's a good way to wreck a transmission and clutch. and from the looks of it most of his pulls were no brakes, just power. Also, definitely multiple pulls. the tire marks don't just appear from nowhere in the next clip..

This looks like the last 9C1 Impala from the back, the exhaust cam during the rolling burnout makes me think about it every time I see the chrome strip in the back, this is the way Chevy should have made that Impala instead, LS-series based V8 and RWD and new one too.

Fun fact, both were designed around the same time for a 2006 release, the Caprice debuting in Australia as the WM Series at the time, the Impala Obv being released here as a "9th Gen Model". Can see where the inspiration came from, design phases should have happened around 02-03 with the first Impala pre production prototype being built in 2004 for testing. Spy shots existed online for some time from the test run, but were removed from the photobucket album. it wore pontiac rims. Frankly I am fond of both cars equally despite the Police Impalas not having the LS4. some departments bought the SS Impala (2006-2009) but such examples were rare. Can think of Polk County FL as an example.

I like old cop cars, have had 3 Crown Vic P71's and they were fun but slow until you breathed on them a bit. My mom worked on the PPV program at Chevrolet in the day, she suggested I check one of these out. She was a drag racer in her young days and I inherited her heavy foot for sure, (she is 79 now and still drives a 2K Vette), she assured me I would like this car. The hunt is now on for one, my dad is actually checking out one in Tampa for me this week.

In my country GM sells Holdens under Chevy name plate, like the Caprice and the Lumina but they replaced the Lumina with the Malibu. However, the Caprice is available in the same body style as the one in the video since 2007 and slightly updated in 2014, it's a great machine has an 365HP LS2 engine and believe me ot gets up and goes, I have seen it passing the Charger R/T a lot.

In Australia we have Statesman and Caprice same body but the Caprice has more luxury features and later on the Statesman name was dropped and it was Caprice and CapriceV wit the V coming standard wit sunroof and not available on the Caprice as previously you had the option on both Statesman and Caprice

Hooliganz Well, here in the US, they're mainly used as police and detective cars. The only time that you'll see a civilian behind the wheel of one is if the department(s) were upgrading their fleet and sold them at auction.

Theres tons being sold off the public already, you can pick up a 2013 with 60k miles for about 13,000. Not a bad value honestly. The Chevrolet SS is the same car, but with better trim, and they sell for 22k+ for the same miles. My local PD has hundreds of them too, so expect them to be showing up in civilian hands by the thousands accross the country. They are more common than you think, and they will only get more common.

How do you turn off the traction control in these cars? Just remove a fuse? I hear everyone complaining about it but nobody seems to be able to tell me how to turn it off. Im sure if you put some wide wheels with good rubber on the rear, you woudln't even lose traction, but thats not fun.

I am seriously thinking of finding out if I can import one of these things to canada, like serioiusly, why are they not sold here? They are dirt cheap, have a badass 6.0l v8, are rwd, can handle quite a bit of abuse (quite important in canada for the winter), and just in general are quite practical cars being sedans and having around the same fuel economy of a 2011 dodge grand caravan (which is pretty good coming from a 6 litre v8). But if anybody knows anything about importing cars like these to canada please reply.

Damn I wish I had one of those super charger for my semi marked 2011 Caprice 9C1!! Like it is it runs very well but more would be cool. BTW- this is hands down the best cop car I have ever had. I have been issued various year CV's, a 09 Charger as well as a 95,96 and my current 2011 Caprice 9C1. The mid 90's LT1 cars was awesome but this 2011 is like a Z28 with four doors. Love it

PPV stands for Police Patrol Vehicle. The Caprice PPV is available in the US only as the PPV, so you have to be a cop to drive one. However, a version of the Caprice PPV is available to the general public as the Chevy SS.

You don't have to be a cop to buy one, 2011's are starting to turn up in auctions because they are at peek mileage, you can find slightly used ones also. The only restriction is GM will only sell them as fleet vehicles, no restriction on selling them used though...

Very cool car and a very nice video. While you cannot (normally) obtain a Caprice PPV as a new car, you CAN buy a used one at an auction or - if you are lucky - persuade a dealer to sell you a new one that might be an "extra" car that was part of a canceled municipal government order or perhaps a demonstrator model. The Chevy SS sedan available at your local dealership is essentially the same car, but with a 6.2L V8 ( a detuned version of the engine installed in the Corvette ) instead of a 6.0L -- and a lot of nice trim items, better wheels, mouldings, etc.

That could be a good sleeper. The only thing that sucks is the location of the air filter. It's practically in the middle of the engine bay. It's going to lose hp on hot days. Force induction and heat is not good.

we have them in states....either the cop car or 30 of them got.sold to civilians on east coast before GM caught it and redid the dealer clause where they had to stay fleet. Or...get a 'SS' or a G8. There are also about 25-30 Utes that made it here as press pilot cars floating around w G8 clips that are road legel even in CA

Got to see one in person today. Drove 2.5 hours to look at a used certified pre-owned we bought. Have to give a two thumbs up to our sales representative Tim Munson and staff at Eriksen Chevrolet Buick in Milan Illinois for the best car buy experience ever and a lucky chance to see a new Illinois State Police Caprice PPV in person. Very nice vehicle. Was hoping someone would have picked it up while we were there....would have been nice to here it run and get an officer opinion on it.

Faisal SS I wish they were available here too. GM fleet dealers sell them for commercial use. (Law enforcement or municipal use.) Beautiful car and best of all a sleeper. Had a friend of the family who was a Illinois State Trooper that had one of the last rear wheel drive full size Caprices with a Vette engine in it. Top end speed via drive train was very close......getting there was a hell of a lot more fun.
