Gen 2 N80 Hilux gets engine and auto tuned / remapped.

This week we tune a Gen 2 N80 on the dyno.
We remap the engine ecu and the auto trans.
The shift points get changed and also torque converter lock up points.

Wow this is well detailed video. Very informative mate. Thanks. I drive the new 2022 stock sr5 hilux at work and they are much easier " power wise and throttle response " to drive than my 2017. I understand the later ones have actual upgraded parts but could my 2017 hilux be tuned to drive like that of a stock 2022 hilux. Keep at the informative vids they are great.

Thanks for the feedback!! The new Gen 3 hilux’s have new turbo’s, heads and injectors. So make more power from factory. But we can certainly get the 2017 driving much better!!

Thanks They will lock 5th and 6th but won’t hold it on light throttle We change it so it has 4th, 5th and 6th and will hold longer. As well as shift better

I’m sold! Very keen to get my luxy dyno’d as I tow camper trailer, 2T, on road and sand and can get a bit laggy in the soft stuff. Is there anything to be cautious of when getting a dyno and how long does it take?

Ha ha, easy as that hey? Ecu and auto tune will get it sorted mate. Nothing to be cautious of if the tuner is good. We will need to have the car for 4-6hours. We have a loan car available as well.

Hi mate. Just received a brand new single cab td 2022 Hilux 4x4 auto. Sitting on a flat hwy at 110kph about 2100rpm empty tray. I selected the sports shift mode and it selected 5th same rpm and speed as beforehand. I pushed it into 6th and nothing changed no rpm difference. I manually selected 4th and it went to that then to 5th and the rpm dropped as it should then selected 6th again and no change. Do these need to do 130kph to hop into 6th gear like the early 200 series that had issues? Or is there another reason I'm missing. Or just average Toyota engineering.

This is the exact reason you need to do a trans tune. There is too much going on in the maps to get it to 6th gear and lock up. So we clean it up and make it happen earlier and hold it. Lower trans fluid temps, better fuel consumption, better shifting, holds gears and converter lockup all cheaper than a aftermarket switch for just lock up 👍🏻

Hey mate, located in wa do you recommend anywhere in wa to get my 2022 n80 tuned manual I have heard the clutches have improved but will I need to upgrade clutch after your opinion Cheers

Hey mate I don’t know anyone over there sorry Yeah the clutches are better but still won’t take the extra torque. We always install a NPC clutch with every tune on the Hilux and Landcruiser

I have a 2017 lux. Is there much difference in the powertrain from that to the current model?

Hey Adrian The 2017 and current gen 3 are very different The gen 3 has new turbo, head, injectors and ecu. So more power and torque is achieved with gen 3 than previous models with less mods.
