I've got a 2005 RAV4 and I'd never had a problem with the TPMS light. I recently took it in for a routine tire rotation and afterwards, the light kept coming on. I made sure the tires were at the proper pressure and I'd reset the light and it would just keep coming back on shortly thereafter. I took it back to the mechanic and they told me that the TPMS is a dealer-serviceable item. The last time I got a service quote from my dealer, it was $2,100 to replace the entire exhaust system due to a tiny crack just before the muffler. I got a local muffler shop to fix it for just $70. Because of this, I was really nervous about taking it in to the dealer. I found this video, and I checked a couple other videos and external sites to get corroboration on what it proposed that I do. I rechecked my tires, held down the button to trigger the reinitialization, drove the circumference of my town's beltway which takes about an hour, and the light has stayed off since. This video probably just saved me untold hundreds of dollars. Thanks so much!

Don't know for sure but I read that if the spare tire was low it would also trip the sensor light. So check it also. (I worked in the tire industry for 30 years & you wouldn't believe how many cars that came in with flat spares because they NEVER checked the pressure. I always keep 50PSI in my spare. You can always let some out if you get a flat & never wish it had air in it!!)

Where can I find the button on a 2012 Toyota Camry?
@TerryB7517 жыл бұрын
In the case of a 2015 Toyota Sienna, the low tire pressure light did go off when the tires were inflated to 34 psi (the tire sticker indicated 35 psi is the normal pressure). One thing the owner's manual should make clear is that the pressure should be close to the pressure indicated on the sticker in order for the pressure light to go off. Initially, we put in 32 psi for all 4 tires and the light did not go off. It took at least 34 psi in the tires for the light to finally extinguish. As the manual indicated, when just putting air in the tires, the light should go off without having to manually press the reset button.

Is it different with different years? My Toyota if I just press the reset button the light doesn’t go off, I read to hold it and wait for the light to blink 3 times then release, but the light continues to stay on. I tried it again and then after some driving it ended up going off, but this morning woke up and started my car and boom there she was again on and solid. Should I try possibly putting about 34psi instead of the called for 32?

These systems were installed partly because of pressure from the federal "safety" police. Perhaps the same "regulators" can consider making it a "safety" recall. I took our 2010 Toy into the dealer for a airbag check. They checked the tire light and said 3 of 4 sensors weren't working. The total cost PER WHEEL was on the order of $125.
@proclaimliberty20005 жыл бұрын
Unfortunatley, the system you have has batteries in each wheel which WILL eventually fail. There are other systems that do not use batteries. Yes the cost is outrageous! A lot of people simply cannot afford this kind of stuff when it fails. You don't have to replace the batteries if you don't mind the warning light being on. Just check your tire pressure regularly like people use to do. These other videos might help. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKLWlniClJiMZpY kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZK9aXeoa8tlfZo

@Martinpreciado15 жыл бұрын
Some cars don't have sensors inside the tires (direct TPMS). This is a good video to reset it but I think is mostly for vehicles with indirect TPMS and maybe some with direct TPMS. My 2004 Highlander uses the sensors on the anti-lock brake system to measure the tire rotation that's why you have to drive around so many miles. As the tires spin it measures how long it takes for the tire to go around comparing it to the other tires. If one of the tires has less air it would complete the rotation faster . This is when the low tire light comes on. This is why you have to be sure that they all have the right pressure before re initializing the system. I don't have direct TPMS so a I am assuming that the sensors will send a signal so often to preserve battery. Really don't know how that works. I also assume that you don't have to drive around for it to receive signal from each tire either.
