I bought an OBD somethin or other (idk exactly what its called) that is a small plug that plugs in and connects to your phone or mobile device via Bluetooth, and works like a charm. You just download the app from the app store and your golden. I bought it on Amazon for like $20 it tells you everything abput your car and even has all the trouble codes if you have a engine light on.

@Silvio Manuel Meh!!!! I have a car that is only 2 years old, that has absolutely no issues, is under warranty and works just fine!!! And I dont expect any problems with it in the near future. But I do have a jeep that is an '08 and a dodge stratus that is an '04 that I will most likely use it on should a check engine light come on.

You have to replace the entire sensor unit. The batteries are sealed inside.

You probably should mention, that a lot of cars you can NOT replace the battery in the Sensors. You have to replace the entire sensor and then re balance the tires, and do a learn on the sensors. That is quite an expensive proposition. In my opinion these systems are a huge pain and I guess people no longer know how to read a $1.50 pressure gauge.

@@mikefaith7741 since when does a light cause you to fail? I live in pa, and electrical issues do NOT prove your car is unsafe. Many times when a light is in, it's a sensor, and in most cases effects nothing but driving you nuts. They are very thorough here but if your dash says something that means nothing. They do their own diagnosis for issues, the old school way. The only thing they get off your instrument panel is your odo reading. Like you said, people apparently no longer no how to read a tire pressure gauge. Which is my point. The TPMS is a huge waste, and very unimportant to most degrees. If you can read a gauge there is no safety issues with that light being a pain in the ass.

I had the same issue on my Acura Mdx 2009. The Tpms system error suddenly came up and all the sensors were reading 'dash' (--). After many searches, what I did to resolve it was to deflate all tires to zero and reinflate them all. Boom🎉, the error disappeared after driving for less than 10sec. I almost bought new sensors 😢, I'm glad I didn't.

The sensor is behind the valve. When you take the tire off the rim to replace the sensor you will see it.

Thank you for such informative video. I have recently switched 18 inch tires to 16 inch tires. The latter do not have TPMS inside them. Because of being old version. And that is why there is a malfunction sign on dashboard as you show. I wonder if it is possible to turn off this function. Thanks!

In most makes and models these sensors have a glue that surrounds both the battery and the electronic components of the sensor. Opening them damages these sensors. Battery life is usually between 8 and 10 years on these sensors. Dealerships will try to charge you $275 per sensor. Don't fall for that. I ordered all four of my sensors online for $119. OEM parts. Then simply had all four replaced when I replace my tires. Was charged a $5 programming fee per sensor at a local tire shop.

Since they were OEM sensors mine was basically a relearning procedure. In most aftermarket sensors they have to be totally reprogrammed. Or flashed to the correct vehicle application before installing them.

What if the censor show a low tire but the pressure is fine. Mine shows a solid light if tire is a little low and flashes if the tire is dangerously low. Sometimes it shows when my tire pressure is normal.

No. And it's very difficult to open the TPMS sensor because they are all hermetically sealed and not meant to be opened.

2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid - just had new tires put on today, plus a new sensor in 1 tire. Light blinking, then on constantly. Other sensors (according to tire company) are in good shape. Have tried pushing reset button in glovebox area with car switched to "on" but not running. Still does not go off. Any other ideas?

Hi, I have the same 2013 elantra but mine is 2 doors, same issue blinking light then stays on, I bought the tpms sensor new and install it then force the re learn procedure using a scanner similar to yours, the issue comes back after driving for 5 minutes. Should I replace the TPMS receiver?

my car did something weird .. I just cleaned my wheels. I have chrome wheels went for a ride and it was some armorall probably still on the tire. But I want to turn, and I peeled out from accelerating fast ...my tire pressure gauge went on and buzzed, and then literally two seconds later it shut off ,,i checked the air pressure im perfect...has not gone on again... would a fast acceleration and turning at the same time cause it the pressure to change that much and then reestablish itself I'm not sure... thought it was interesting... but yeah, my psi. I keep around 37. It hasn't moved on all tires. but I did just wash the wheels and it's very temperate out like at night it's like 40° during the day it's like 80° so there's big swings in temperature,, maybe it's just the traction control that was beeping.. anyway, it's a Mazda six second GEN
