Same here! My streams dropped drastically in 2024. I didn’t get on any editorial playlists this year, and I share the same concerns about AI. Nevertheless, keep a positive mindset and keep making music! Peace, L.Dre, and thank you for the inspiration! ✌

Have pretty much followed your blueprint for years now L Dre and these end of year videos have always been super inspiring. Funnily enough this year I actually inadvertently ended up going the same way and just doubling down on what i like and not worrying about trying to beat algorithms or hop on trends. Keep it up bro you're the man!

In terms of learning I have gone with Melodics as I want to learn finger drumming and keys. I have just started making lofi and bought your course, I released 5 tracks on SoundCloud which is 5 more than I ever released. Oh and used your Vol6 drum kit too, so thanks bro! I don't make money from this at all, but for me its a think to keep me sane, I am a developer so always in a screen full of code, I want that to change, but we will see! Here to 2025 being a big year for all producers, no matter how big or small.

I remember hearing somewhere that spotify has hired lots of in-house producers etc... to create music for these playlists - so yeah wouldn't be surprised if some of this was AI or for spotify to push their own internal music over actual artists (which f****** sucks)
@drewwrobel9 күн бұрын
i remember seeing it floating around thru online articles and social media that spotify let go a huge number of staff this past year to save on costs and lots of those released talent were the people that curate playlists and work up mixes for discovering new music to listen to. Plus it seems there was a lot of overlap on those same people being the ones in charge of designing and curating the year end wrapped. People speculate that they tried to shortcut and used ai to make up the loss but i dont think it was ever confirmed on that part.

lofi champloo is one of my favorite projects by you!! samurai champloo is one of my top anime's for a 1 season and done series. And unfortunately, you are right about the ai music it's happening in the jazz category too. Hopefully this doesn't become the trend but with these corps, they are heartless in the face of true artists and creatives.

For me, samurai champloo, It's your best work. Unfortunately, it is Spotify itself that inserts AI songs by non-existent artists in the instrumental sector such as LoFi, Ambient, etc. So for artists the only possibility is to bring what is digital into the real world. Do concerts and make yourself known outside. Happy new year from Italy

'Steven Universe' just gave your streams and monthly listeners a big boost, that's it basically i think. You didn't fell off as some might say. Some of those listeners became fans and stayed after that and some just kept listening to see what else you got but backed out later on. You know what i mean. That's my theory.

I think people are listening to lofi less in general. For example, a playlist I was in last year got 10k plays a day, this year around 2k. I got slightly higher numbers this year but I had to put so much more effort in with consistent releases

Maby you got more plays originally because you was making and uploading Hiphop with a name Similar to Dr Dre and there algorithms picked up on that so when people searched for him they found you or was suggested your music. Now that Dr Dre is releasing new music those plays boosts younused to get are now gone because now when people search Dr Dre your music no longer shows because his stuff shows instead. If Snoop Dog hadn't had any new releases for years and I then go post My music under the name S Noop Dogs then I would rank the highest in search everytime anyone Search for Snoop Dogs music. Sounds crazy kinda makes sense to Me.

Now you compete with 20-30k fake AI "artists" which are flooding all streaming platforms with millions of fake generic songs labeled as "lo-fi" or whatever.... but even so, if you've had 1 , 2 or 3 songs added on really Big playlists , with millions of listeners, for several months, your wrapped it would have shown double than now... or at least millions of individuals to save your songs in their private playlists ....
