Can't say I agree about the alt-fire ability for weapons. It makes the guns far more interesting when you have more options available. Also Blood (1997) had alt-fire for weapons.

@@WorthABuyreviews What video editing software do you use? I wont get weird, im just curious. Looking at da vinci + 3090 (If I can buy the damn thing) + 6TB raid 0 3x nvme pci 4.0. 8k is probably viable with interpolation. You can take that pixel/floating point accuracy, and convert it to a 4k upload which people actually have, though with supersampling. Even post compression its technically going to look better, like with raytracing injection, and intelligent sharpening. Im aware at some point you abandoned the toaster.

@@WorthABuyreviews And anyone who rolls out videos who actually has the hardware now, let me know. Im going to be building a database soon with all my settings available to the public, even if some of our work ends up being a bit redundant. Ideally we get a group of people going, since im not going to dump millions of dollars into entertainment software. The ultimate goal would be having each games reshade values both on display, and the settings with that presenation, AND having the presets available for download somewhere. Plug and play. You either have the hardware to play it, or you dont. Generally im going to assume you have at least somewhat modern hardware to play with this stuff. It actually works just fine even on my highly modified GTX 980M, but honestly, you should probably at minimum these days have at least around a RTX 2070 GPU. These next generation games are legitimately going to push the IO spearhead, which is why we are seeing GDDR6 and GDDR6X ram disks for CPU IPC uplift. Its really just preparing for truly next generation texture quality. It honestly is probably going to be very good. We will just have to see more games that arent just rushed out like assassins creed VH which are basically parity for parity on both consoles. I have my own suspicions about the PS5 CPU clockrates. The super fast SSD with its own dedicated compression decompression silicon which the PC master race isnt getting outside like literal server environment tiers of investment is going to be only as useful as your brain can feed such a process. We are getting to the point terabytes of storage are like DDR2 and DDR3 RAM. Its going to have trickle down effects of processing power by LOD you dont have to forfeit. It looks to have a snowballing effect, where before you processed its existence, then had to dump it out of memory. Remember texture quality has basically zero impact on performance if you actually have that memory available to pull it off. Its been this way for years and years and years. Imagine what is possible with this sort of actual technological advance. If you are going to bother however, please dont make it easy to beat. At best youll get parity. As to you bud, I know you are unusually shy. Lets just keep the subject gaming related. My specialty is optimization, and maxing out graphical fidelity. I am however a video editing noob. The idea of periodic payments with mediocre past records of optimization, I just dont know about that adobe.

The graphics options actually have a ton in there. You can switch out enemy sprites for 3D models, make the entire game look low res, add scan lines and a ton of other stuff. Also quick saves = save scumming, which just is the furthest thing you want players to be doing in a fast paced shooter. Also the levels aren't slow paced. In the video he is playing slow for some reason but that is on him. There is a leaderboard that takes time into account so you should be running through the levels as fast as possible. Oh and the iron sights are just part of the alt fires, its not like you are running around adsing all the time.

I don't understand the argument about checkpoints. Checkpoints as opposed to save whenever you want actually make the game harder and doesn't allow you to "cheat" yourself through the game. Most old FPSs with quicksave were extremly easy.

I like where Prodeus is going, can't wait to see what it is like with another year of content development. Seems like they've come up to a pretty good state really quickly. I agree that the saving system is the weakest aspect, but I don't get too hung up on the weapon mechanics. There's lots of old school inspiration for weapons, you can find an excuse to fit almost anything, like Blood weapons.

Ever since internet started to get common people wanted to start competing, leaderboards are needed. We also need moderation of leaderboards, there always is someone who takes a lap 30 sec faster than everyone else or otherwise has that time machine. BUT, DOOM didn't have high score tables because it was the start of the 90's,, you had to post you'r scores/times yourself (remember gran turismo) now we have internet and can compete and get hacked with and by everyone. And I also remember playing DOOM and just had to get by a room and tried like thirty times before success, that's what you want in a game, yes, the feeling of achievement.

Love how it's been able to mold old(animations and design)& new(overall gun control/play feels just like other current first-person shooters)features together and more or less makes it work with great quality. Of course, Doom & Quake were the obvious inspirations for the design team and the creators when developing the thing. But it is certainly NOT a game in either one of those franchise; complaining that there shouldn't be cross hairs because D & Q + other era games don't have cross hairs is pretty insignificant in the first place. But assuming that it should be exactly like them in most ways takes away from the fact that its a stand-alone title that is not tied to anyone style or trait of anything else and... im ranting nonsense now. The point is, the game is fcking fun. When that heavy metal comes in and killing time arrives; i thoroughly enjoyed it! Especially when i get really REALLY stoned and put the headphones on.

I agree with the checkpoint system, and while I'm personally fine with the reloading, I don't completely agree with your opinion on alt fire modes, Blood and Blood 2 are oldschool shooters as well, with alt fire modes, one of the expansions of Quake, Dissolution Of Eternity or whatever it was called, literally gave your guns alternative fire mods, Hexen had alt fire mods plus the aiming down sights is part of the alt fires, like with the Pistol, it doesn't effect accuracy, it just gives a 3 round burst as alt fire, the Chaos Gun and the Plasma Gun have aim down sight alt fire mods because the weapon HUD indicates when the shot is ready since they have a short cooldown when using the alt fire

I appreciate your opinion. I appreciate the quick save on doom on ultra violence. Dont like the check points. Loving the iron sights

Some games in the early 90s did have leaderboards if I'm not mistaken where you had to type your name but ur name had to be three letters long. So if your name wasn't something like Pat you couldn't type in your whole name. Or was that the early 80s?? God I'm old.

Been waiting for this one. By the looks of things it doesn't do anything Doom mods don't do already. Think I'll wait for the extra content as doom wad is still cheaper and the mods are free. Glad you visited it though!

It plays like Doom 3 - if it were were a direct sequel to Doom 2! The level design is great though, a bit like Quake 1 but with even more secrets. You should definitely check it out, you can always get a refund if you think it overpriced.

@@DrTeeth66 Fair point. My main issue is the price, especially as it's not even finished. You can get Doom 2 for £3.99 on steam right now, and the amount of mods available is enough to keep you occupied for years. Look at Brutal Doom for example, and the amount of work that went into it. I don't see how this game is worth the money if it doesn't do anything that hasn't already been done - and done better by cheaper or free alternatives. Just my opinion, but I get what you're saying.

Games today rely too much on auto saving. If I have to leave in a timely manner, I just want to be able to save where I ever I am, not wait til I hit a checkpoint or auto save location.
@arsenii_yavorskyi
@arsenii_yavorskyi 3 жыл бұрын
you got it wrong. actual auto-saving saves your progress as you play, or at least on exit. this game, on the other hand, has a very impractical check-point system.
@MrSkullHead1250
@MrSkullHead1250 3 жыл бұрын
@@arsenii_yavorskyi I'd still rather manual saves lol. I've also played games that have auto save, and did not save on exit, so I've had plenty of experiences where I had to get to a certain point to exit the game. In my opinion that is illogical. I get some games are built this way for challenge purposes, but I have played plenty of games that very much needed a manual save feature and did not have one.
@arsenii_yavorskyi
@arsenii_yavorskyi 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrSkullHead1250 the game should have proper check-points in case the player dies, but auto-save progress in the background in case the player exits the game. manual saving would be just an annoying chore and a way to bypass some of the difficulty (which is already non-existent).

I respect your opinion on it. But I disagree. I think it is a good decision from the developers (they are only three guys working on this) to put modern aspects into the game. It makes it accessible for a newer generation as well. And this game will be available on all consoles after the early access. I agree with the checkpoint system it's a bit overpowered and needs adjustment. The optical variety is a weakpoint for me as well. That reminded me a lot of quake 1. Where every chapter had it own style. The level design is heavily inspired from quake, doom and especially from quake 2. An I don't think the game is slow. Btw this game will get coop and multiplayer as well. The community is building great maps as well. And also worth to mention you can turn on 3d models. Because the enemies and all the sprite effects in this game are still 3d models or based on 3D models. This game tries to build bridges between the new school and old school and I think they did a fantastic job so far. Can't wait for more enemies levels guns and multiplayer.

Reloading, ads and secondary fire in fps is a good thing. PERIOD. If you disagree, try brutal doom, it will change your mind :) It might not be oldschool, but it makes oldschool games better.
