It's our strongest field yet, as kids from Stars and Strikes in Cumming, Stars and Strikes in Dallas, GA, and even one of the top U15 Boys in the state who traveled all the way from Columbus, GA to try to win the right to sign their name to The Coveted Trophy Pin. After two games of qualifying, our field of 11 was cut to the top 8, and those eight players bowled one game of head-to-head match play. Cumulative scores carried over through all three games, and players were awarded 30 bonus pins for winning their match. Find out which four players made the Championship Round Stepladder Finals. Will Charlie keep his winning streak alive? Who can stop him? Sit back and enjoy one of our most exciting episodes yet of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR. USBC Silver Certified Coach Randy Brown on the play-by-play.
As always, your comments are encouraged. Just please be respectful and remember that these are KIDS bowling. If you have criticisms, that's fine. But keep them constructive and helpful, not insulting or demeaning. The mission of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is to Celebrate Junior Bowling while we Elevate Junior Bowlers. As long as your comments are in that spirit, it's all good. Thanks for watching and for subscribing. Please share with your friends and other bowlers you know! We appreciate you watching and spreading the PRODIGY gospel.

Christian is one heck of a bowler, but I have to admit Charlie has become my favorite here. He has been on fire lately, I hope Logan F can break his slump and come back too. I really commend you for doing this for theese kids!! It had become my favorite show to watch after the weekends.

So glad I came across this channel a few weeks ago, I've watched all episodes posted since and look forward to all the new ones. Even though i'm 29, i'm trying to get back into bowling but I only go practice with a house ball and throw a straight shot. Hopefully I will get my own proper ball this summer and keep practicing with my dad. I find studying the kids techniques is a better way for me to learn off the lanes vs checking out video of the pros.

Absolutely my pleasure. It was a delight to finally get to meet you and Josh after I'd seen the two of you at so many GYBT events. Kid's got game, as I'm sure you know. Scary to think he's just 13. When I was 13, I was still throwing boogers at my history teacher in class. LOL!

Wisconsin! Thanks for checking in! Charlie has really stepped up his game this year. And Kara has been a whole different player since she spent a day at the Kegel Training Center last Summer. Pretty soon it will be time for her to start entertaining offers from recruiters, and I'm anxious to see her take her game to yet another level. Meanwhile, I'd really like to recruit a few more top girls to come bowl with us...to give Kara a bit more competition.

Christian's backswing is looking MUCH better!! He will be able to repeat shots easier...great job Christian! I used to have a high backswing too...my bowling average went up 30 pins on the season when I adjusted it lower. It really helps accuracy....once you're comfortable you now have Revs, Power and Accuracy..a triple threat!! Awesome!! Charlie, everyone has bad breaks....you will continue to bowl awesome...p.s. Even Pete Weber (PDW) Has bad breaks..I think it was last year he was bowling the Title match it was the 10th frame and just needed a mark to win the championship....Pete being one of the best ever...put the ball right in the pocket..boom!!!....after the pins cleared..up stood two pins..he had the pocket 7-10 split..he lost even though he threw an awesome shot..So don't beat youself up over the game...next time it's a new day!!

You should have more subs for all this hard work good job
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 7 жыл бұрын
Help us spread the word. Believe it or not, it was only a few weeks ago that this channel had about 35 subscribers. That was back when the only thing you could find on this channel were videos of ME BOWLING. (It's a miracle there were 35 people willing to subscribe to that, proving once again that there's somebody out there for everyone.) But when the junior bowling videos started going up in September and October of 2016, our number of subscribers started gradually rising. Then I dreamed up a name for this series ("PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR"), branded it with a logo and enhanced the production values a bit, and all of a sudden, the subs started going up fairly rapidly. We're well over 3,000 (we just went over 1,000 during the Christmas break) and will likely be over 4,000 by the time the 2016-17 bowling season ends. Then we'll have a year under our belt to start really spreading the word!

Well, the good news is, these shows are fairly evergreen. By that I mean they should be just as relevant and entertaining to anyone who stumbles upon them a year or five years from now. And as time goes by, the library of shows will just grow and grow.

Yes!! Roy Buckley!!! I remember him!! I thought Jesse has a nice game..I agree he needs to free up and not control his swing. When he frees it up he is rewarded..is he throwing conventional or fingertip? I can't tell. With his great approach and follow through he could be really good!! Great job still Jesse!! Now Christian...he got that triple threat going!! Keep it up!! Great job Christian! Congratulations!! Great job Coaches!! Joshua!!! Wow!! Look out Belmo!! Loved the Andy Varapapa 300!!

This was one of my favorite episodes so far. And I have a question if u don't mind, I've been a bower(two handed) for 2 months and have been averaging 170. But when I see other young people at my bowling, they seem much more consistent when bowling 1 hand. Any tips for converting to 1 hand
@johnmccartney7480
@johnmccartney7480 7 жыл бұрын
No need to "convert" just practice, practice, practice! Once you get comfortable/confident with your style of bowling the higher "consistent" scores will come :-)
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 7 жыл бұрын
The players who are most consistent -- regardless of whether they're two-handed or one-handed -- are the ones with the simplest games, with the fewest moving parts. That's what I like so much about CJ's game -- he's just got very few moving parts, and his swing is real straight and simple, too. Some of the other players on the show have more moving parts, and their swings don't hold up quite as well under pressure. Simpler is ALWAYS better. I don't necessarily recommend a player switch from two -handed to one-handed (or the other way around). Just find a style that works for you and stick with it. If you are uncertain about which way to go, that's the worst. Try both methods until you can truly COMMIT to one way.

If we can ever get someone at the bowling center trained on how to program their Kegel FLEX machine, we might get some new patterns put in it. As it stands right now, there are several patterns available (30, I believe), but no one down there knows how to program it. Frustrating.

Randy...I read your about 80% feeling better...I will keep praying for you .....I have a question for you..I was watching C.J. And his two handed style (he has awesome potential).. When C.J. let's the ball go his follow through arm is bent some...this made me think of Nolan bent arm delivery...I think with Nolan's athleticism adopting the two handed style could really help him..if he needs to continue to keep his arm bent...this seems like a great solution to help him become more consistent with a better follow through ...he really has potential too! I'm curious what you think? (I've never taught a two handed style but admire what Belmo has done)

Randy, great video as always (at up through the first 29:18 haha). When you talk about the soft 10 and the problem being in the exit angle rather than the entry angle, is there anyway to prevent this?
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 7 жыл бұрын
At the risk of sounding like a smart aleck, the solution is to throw a better shot. Gotta get the ball to "face up" a little stronger at the end to provide the impetus on the 6 pin to get it to slap out the 10.
@energy4766
@energy4766 7 жыл бұрын
Nope, not smart aleck at all. I asked the question so I get to face the consequences of the answer ;) Anyway, thanks for the reply. I'll definitely make sure to watch the ball to see its position tomorrow at league.
@ProdigyBowlersTour

Every player is different. For me, I find that my carry percentage goes way up (and I get more 10 pins to fall) when I STAY BEHIND THE BALL through release. My faulty tendency is to turn it to early, and ultimately, get around it too much (to the point of getting on top of it in some cases). By staying more behind it, I also tend to keep my elbow in tighter to my body (thereby avoiding the dreaded "chicken wing" release). If any of this sounds like you, try what I do -- stay more behind the ball through release. Might help. But I'd be loathe to offer much more without seeing you throw some shots. Got video? (If only we were on a forum of some kind where you could post some video for me to see.)

Find a USBC Certified Coach in your area that you can work with. Like with anything else in life, there's no shortcut to getting better at anything. Charlie wears a black hada patch on his thumb. Hada patches are a product made by Vise Inserts. They're like cloth bandages you stick on your thumb to protect it from getting blisters. Charlie wears the black hada patches. The colors indicate the varying thicknesses these hada patches come in. Blue is the super thin one. Red is the next thickest (and is the one I wear). Black is thicker still. I'm not sure if there are thicker ones, black is the thickest I've seen anyone use. They also tend to snug up the fit inside the thumb hole, so you have to account for it when drilling the thumb hole. Some folks like how these coverings also tend to give you a more consistent feel on release. But I wear 'em to protect my thumb from getting blisters. For someone who used to go through new skin like it was water, these hada patches are a lifesafer. One of the greatest inventions ever, if you ask me.

His rev rate would tend to indicate that he's more of a stroker or maybe a tweener. But at 13 (he turns 14 this Summer), he certainly has the potential to grow into a cranker. Although I'm trying to get him to back off from trying to put so much hand in the ball. He tends to "over-hit" it, which actually reduces his effectiveness. He bowled about as well in this video as I've seen him bowl in a good long while. He stayed slow, he didn't yank the ball down from the top, and he didn't grab it at the bottom. He was actually ROLLING the ball off his fingers rather than trying to "hit it" or "lift it" out on the lane. If he'll try to keep doing this, he will get better in a big hurry.

Not at the present time. The bowling center has, on occasion, had "ball leagues," where you join the league and receive a ball at the end of the season. This particular junior league does not do that.

Randy, you do an amazing job with these kids. Just have to admit I think Logan F is about the best bowler for age that I've seen. Where has he been? Guess he's not bowling that well. Charlie since getting new ball has been doing great too. What are these kids averaging in league play and what are there ages.

ira sie - Charlie's 14. Logan F. And Christian are 13. Logan's fighting thru a slump. Had a great week of practice, but developed a handful of blisters Saturday, hampering his efforts to qualify for the show. His results (and everyone else's) can be found in the show notes.

How do you see it as a lane mistake? At 32:49, the lane is on first-ball cycle, and the bowler throws a gutter ball. At 33:18, on the spare shot, the lane is on second-ball cycle, and the bowler throws a spare that looks like a messenger strike.

Mark, I'll be honest with you. I haven't bought a bowling ball in over a year, and there are so many new ones that have come out since the last time I was into always having the latest new shiny object in my arsenal that I've sort of lost track of what's out there. Plus, even when I was constantly buying new equipment, I pretty much only paid attention to Storm equipment, which is the only thing I throw. As a "first hook ball" goes, it's hard to beat the Storm HyRoad. Arguably the best ball they've ever made. Plus it's kind of an in-between ball -- a hybrid, but with a pretty strong back end. Can't go wrong with a HyRoad.

how do u hook a ball with one hand I always have trouble getting my thumb out and then hooking it , I can only hook the ball with the 2 handed method
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 7 жыл бұрын
You just answered your own question. Getting your thumb out easily and quickly is the key, allowing you to ROLL the ball off your fingers. The modern bowling ball is built to hook. If you can't hook it, it's because you're doing something wrong. ROLL the ball, don't hurl it down the lane. The thumb MUST come out first, quickly and easily. RELAX your thumb. Do NOT squeeze the ball or pinch it to try to hold on with your thumb. Remember, the thumb is not in the ball to hold it; the thumb merely helps to GUIDE the ball, not HOLD it. Keep that thumb super relaxed and the ball will fling off your hand at the bottom. Just get the feeling that you're rolling it off your fingers and I guarantee the ball will hook.

need to teach hunter to stay in his own lane
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 7 жыл бұрын
Hunter explained to one of our coaches last week why he walks in one direction or the other when he lets it go. By walking to the left, he's "helping" the ball hook to the left. And when he walks to the right, he's trying to get it to not hook so much. How can I argue with such thoroughly thought-out logic? (For what it's worth, there's only one shot of Hunter in this entire video and while he does walk in one direction, he never gets out of his own lane.)

BrownswickBowling I used to think that when I was young. I would point in a direction and hope it would go. Your right about him staying in his own lane it's just weird because personally that would distract me If I was next to him

Crazy Penguin - He has a right to the entire width of his lane, too. My advice is, if someone being on the adjacent approach is distracting to you, then wait for them to step back. Or take up golf.
