PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR -- 11-11-2017 "First Anniversary"

It's been one year since we gave this series a name, dubbing it PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR. So now seemed the right time to hold our First Anniversary show. Today, 18 kids subjected themselves to a Qualifying Round. Two in our Junior Varsity Division and Four in our Varsity Division survived the winnowing process. Our show begins with a championship match between or two JV survivors. Then we segue over to the Varsity division and let the four-player stepladder play out.
One major technical glitch on this week's show, as your idiot producer (that would be me) failed to calibrate the focus on our new camcorder, which means all the action footage was shot slightly out of focus. The wide shot looks alright (well, "almost" alright). But when we apply the digital zoom-in to follow the ball to the pins, the blurriness in the footage is revealed. So for the first time in PRODIGY history, today's show doesn't employ the use of the digital "virtual" zoom, So it looks a little different than all our other PRODIGY shows. But the match play action is no less fierce. In fact, all four matches are decided in the 10th frame, and three of the four matches come down to the very last ball. Match play doesn't get any more suspenseful than that.
So have yourself a cupcake to help us celebrate our First Anniversary of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR and enjoy the show.
As always, your comments are welcome. We do ask that you keep your criticisms constructive. If all you have to say is to criticize young people without offering anything to help them get better, such comments may be removed. Remember, the mission of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is to Celebrate Junior Bowling while we Elevate Junior Bowlers. Keep your comments in that spirit and all will be good.
Thank you for watching and supporting PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR through our first year. The growth this channel has enjoyed has been phenomenal, and frankly, a little mind-blowing. I appreciate your support more than you know.
As always, Randy Brown, USBC Silver Certified Coach, has the play-by-play call.

Hey coach Randy I believe Josh made a ball switch, one with more surface just didn't make enough of a move left. Ball had more mid lane read. First ball just wasn't finishing. Tough break with that 8-10. CONGRATS TO ALL THE WINNERS!!!! THANKS AGAIN!!!

Hey Randy, great episode once again. I was wondering if you had any advice on the following question. I help run a bowling alley near me, and we currently don't have a youth league. Is there and advice you have on ways that we could get some kids interested in bowling a league.

If I were starting from scratch, I'd work whatever database or mailing list the center might have from birthday party bookings. Out of all those kids who come in for birthday parties, surely some of them would like to bowl on a weekly basis. Especially if you can raise some coaches to come in and give them some help. That's where I'd start. Then there's the matter of what does your center offer to kids who might bowl at nearby bowling centers? What's in it for the bowlers? You should ask that question, because you can be sure they'll be asking it.

Every time a ball comes out of the ball return...the sound it makes reminds me of a turkey gobble. Lol. Took me awhile to figure out what was making the sound.
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 6 жыл бұрын
Some of the sounds you hear are the annoying speakers that are playing music. Don't tell them at the bowling center, but they're EQ'd so tinny that you can barely make out that there's any music playing from them at all. (Which makes it better for me, as the Google/KZbin algorhythms don't even detect that there's any music playing at all.) Interestingly, every time I've been in the bowling center when they've turned on the music, two or three people have commented at how they wish they'd turn the damn music off.

BrownswickBowling I bowl on one league that blasts music...and another that plays nothing. 95% of the time I could care less. I’m pretty good at blocking out noises...unless we have an annoying team next to us that has no respect for the bowlers around them. Lol. But...I enjoy the sound of turkey call...lol. It’s fitting for bowling videos! I look forward to your videos every week! Keep up the awesome job. And it was great even with the focus hiccup. 👍

All young 2 handers need a hy-road. I'm from orange in NSW and belmonte is regularly at the bowling alley and when I was 11 he suggested it and I went from averaging 146 to 175. It's so controllable and as at a young age you can't throw it hard or rev it you need the consistently it can provide. It may be old but I still use one 5 years later it's 16 pounds but I would suggest 12 at that age

+kaylene baysinger - So does everybody else the first time they bowl PRODIGY. But what they all find out is, it’s harder to win than you think it might be. Even the regulars have had to learn that.

I'm just starting to bowl and to learn how to hook. Ive been hooking for 3 months now currently average a 159. I have trouble with spares. Could getting a ball like the Hammer Urethane help me become more consistent at picking them up?
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 6 жыл бұрын
Any urethane ball is going to be more controllable. But the Hammer Urethane (or the Hammer Blue, or the Storm Pitch Black or Pitch Blue) is going to have a dynamic weight block inside, which will steer the ball to hook a little. Whereas a urethane ball with a pancake weight block (like the Storm Mix) is going to come much closer to the performance of a plastic ball, and is better suited as a spare ball (but more durable than a plastic). I throw a Mix as my spare ball, and I love it.

I don't check what everyone is throwing. I don't care. If he happens to see this and wants to answer, he can. Or maybe someone will recognize what he's throwing. As a coach, I'm far more interested in HOW they're throwing it than WHAT they're throwing.

Yeah, there's nothing worse than having every match come down to the 10th frame, and have three of the 4 matches come down to the very last ball. (You're a tough one to please.)
