It's so heartbreaking to remember how god damn young Taylor Swift was when she wrote these songs. She was at the top of the charts, the topic of every headline and butt of every joke, pouring her heart into some of the most brilliant songs ever written- at 21. This song would be near impossible to listen to, if we didn't have the advantage of hindsight to know how happy she is now.

Exactly! People who are complaining about the fade out being so long, what do you want? A long song with so many emotions running through it and then it just stops abruptly? No man, the fade out is so important in songs like this because it gives you time to recover and recollect yourself from that whole experience. It’s like calming down after you screamed out a bunch of angry/emotional sh!t. Love the fadeout.

I think if you’ve ever had that one relationship that tore you up inside when it ended, you feel this song in your bones. As a 20 year old university student, I dated someone 9 years older. This song just captures that feeling of being young and hopeful and having your idealism absolutely crushed under someone else’s cynicism because the gap in your life experiences is a chasm. I was also skeptical that the 10 minute version would live up to what we all wanted from it, but man, it’s truly exceptional. Taylor has a real gift.
@jankova00132 жыл бұрын
I didn't even dated a guy much older (just a few years) but he crushed absolutely everything in me. I'm over it now (I'm kinda suprised the song doesn't hit nearly as much as it did anymore) but most of the pieces are still shattered on the floor and I just can't pick them up (kinda like "I see the permanent damage you dkd to me" 🙈) it's concerning how many of us have this experience.
@angelw.54102 жыл бұрын
@@jankova0013 I feel like she tore parts of this out of my diary. We started dating a few months before my 21st birthday, and he broke up with me about a week after a stalking/carjacking incident that left me suffering severe anxiety, and about 2 weeks before my birthday. He said he just didn’t have time to deal with everything I needed at that moment. It felt like I was the bad guy there. I’m over it now, but this song and the film have me thinking about how many of us have gone through something like this.
@Davrainbow2 жыл бұрын
This. A lot of people don’t get it - they’re like “she dated him for like two months”. But if you’ve had that experience like I did too, of someone that you feel like you’re going to be with forever because you have so much in common and then they leave you, this song is so relatable. My favorite line of the new song is “Any time now, he’s gonna say it’s love. You never called it what it was.”
@angelw.54102 жыл бұрын
@@Davrainbow Yes and you fall much harder and faster when you’re young, like she was. He was obviously turning on the charm while holding part of himself back and that (holding back) is something you do as you get older and gain more experience. Such a power imbalance, really. So many people blew it off as a short term thing (including him) but by doing that, they robbed her of her agency and right to feel what she was feeling. So so sad. Ronan is the saddest song in existence but this one is right up there with it now, for me.

The original all too well is undeniably the fandoms favorite song because of the emotion it draws from us all. Even those who haven’t experienced this feeling it’s so beautifully written and her most descriptive. She told us years ago that the original version was over ten minutes long and we just found out it was because she was in rehearsal and just freestyling and venting with her band and her mother grabbed the recording of the rehearsal. After a decade we finally annoyed taylor enough to give us the full version of the song. You aren’t alone in being moved by it, we’ve all been moved by it since red was originally released and all of us as a whole are so happy we get to experience this song for the first time again with new lyrics and more to the story.

Each time I hear it (and I always have to play it twice) I am that 29, 30, 31 y/o again. Now hearing Taylors version, this 10 minute song I am remain deeply moved & impressed. It touches me on so many levels that it is hard to describe. I can not wait to see the short film Taylor produced, wrote and directed. The first time I heard this song was when Taylor sang it at the Grammy awards and immediately I was struck by it. IT IS A CLASSIC. Jake Gyllenhaal, DIED DEAD UH HUH, People don't realise how fragile anyone is at the age of 19/20/21, I'd go as far as to say that we're the most fragile at this age as a collective. Anyone that we're with during these years leaves a very permanent impression in our lives be it wonderful or scarring. I'm close to being 23 now but no matter what I do now I'll always be carefully catching the red flags that I ignored at this age, then again Taylor's lived a lifetime since. I'm so glad that this exists, that this talks to people slightly younger in age who don't know anything about themselves yet and questioning whether they're acting crazy or acting a lil too extra. This made me cry but also so proud of where she and I both of us have come in our respective journey's since. ❤️ Love how expressive you are emotionally :')

I feel like if Taylor ever saw this video she would FREAK OUT over Blake's kitten XD. Like what a T Swift thing to do having a cat in the reaction video

I was skeptical, too; but every time I have listened to this new 10 minute version, I fall in love with it more. You are so right, it is perfect. Taylor nailed it. Thanks for doing this video. I'm a new viewer and I appreciated you sharing your impressions and thoughts on the "refreshed" song.

Even if I am in a happy relationship, this version made me feel like I am going through a break up. Taylor Swift is definitely something else, my heart hurts.

I listened to this song when I was about 24 and going through a serious break up. It was the shorter version, but it still broke me but somehow made me feel better because I was able to relate to someone. Taylor is a lyrical genius simply because she can help a girl that she’s never met feel like someone understands her.

what I love about this version of all too well is that it feels like the calmer version of the one on the 2012 red album. Although its the full length, it's like, there's no reason to be frustrated anymore. Don't get me wrong, the song still emits anger and sadness through her voice but I think for her there's a sense of peace knowing that she's been able to say what she's wanted. I'll be screaming the lyrics like I'm in pain though.

From my understanding she actually wrote the 10 minute version kind of on the spot as she was feeling the emotion. Then released the 4-5 minute one. But her singing it now that she’s on the other side of the pain, may give it a different sound

i’ll miss screaming the old one with her but i do love this new one with extra lyrics and different tone to it all too well is my fav

If Taylor was watching I think you having a kitten running around would only make her love this more. But really, it's such a talent to keep the audience's attention going in a 10 minute song when the attention span of the modern world is so fast.

I believe she is in the top 5 songwriters i've ever heard and i've heard a lot in my 68 years, including non 'pop' writers.

We waited nearly 10 years for this and I couldn't stop sobbing the first time I heard it in full. All Too Well has always been one of my absolute favorite songs of Taylors. Even at the Eras tour I couldn't help crying while I screamed my heart out. It was SO therapeutic and cathartic... "I'd like to be my old self again, but I'm still trying to find it."

Thank you for allowing yourself to be affected by this, Blake, and sharing your vulnerability. It's definitely my top reaction video from you because of it. We need to see your humanness, too, and it was very touching to me.

IM0 around the time she mentions snow, the song starts emitting winter vibe although it had an autumn vibe before when she mentioned autumn in the beginning

The 10 min version is so cathartic, especially after the 5min mark. Youre like woah, yeah you effing tell that Tswift. It's so amazing and being in the same age group as Taylor, you feel like grew up with her and realize we all ended up okay. Just the way she showed "Her" at the end of the short film.

This album originally came out when I was 15 and was in the middle of my very first heartbreak. The comfort that the entire album and especially this song had given me was probably one of the most beautiful things ever. Listening to this album brought me back to sitting on the bus with my iPod touch in hand, head pressed up against the window while endless tears streamed down my cheeks. Taylor is seriously an amazing and beyond talented artist.

The craziest part to me is that it doesn't feel like it's ten minutes. That's how much it needed to be that length.

One thing that amazes me the most about this song is how she keeps going back to topics of the beginning, like her memories are playing back in her head and she's stuck with it, how traumatizing was this relationship to her and how she shaped it perfectly well in a pop song. On the bridge she mentions the old scarf he kept, the same that were mentioned in the first verse, the way Jake put the blame on her "you said if we had been closer in age maybe it would've been fine" and she says "i get older but your lovers stays my age", how the narrative is so well constructed and has no gaps. In the end, the fade out is not just to show how the relationship and the person is fading away from her life, but also word painting of how it left scars that are repeating in her mind, she definitely remember it all too well and probably will never forget how she felt like. This is her masterpiece and I think we all can agree with that.
