We have one on unlevel ground, doors don’t work right, roof panels didn’t line up ….our next move is too level everything….ground was wet when we installed and the coop settled ….an auto door is also next…. Thanks for the video 👍

Thanks for the tips. You gave me some great ideas. Especially the pool noodles! 😂 I agree, the hardware for all doors are crap! I’m putting ducks in mine.

That's awesome. We'd love to get ducks too. Thanks for checking out our coop. It's going strong and the worst intruder we've seen is spiders so far. Hope yours goes well

We just picked up and installed this Coop just short of 2 weeks ago and have some older pullets in it now! I am already going to borrow your idea to keep the bedding in for the rear access door!

Thanks for the video 👍 If you get winter, where you’re at what are your plans for insulating the coop?

Hi. We are just about to have birds of laying age and we are wondering how you keep your birds from not pooping over the nesting boxes in this same coop. ?? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for all your other ideas.

Great video. Thank you for taking the time to explain your upgrades? Did you paint the inside one color and the outside a different color? Doesn’t appear to be the “unappealing color” that it comes in.

I'm not sure if the manufacturer has changed colors. We painted the outside to barn red and left both the henhouse inside and the chicken run outside wall the original color. We liked the red color and figured the wood needed protection from the elements. The paint has held up well. I don't think the inside needs paint unless you like it that way.

I hear that racoons can reach in and grab chickens to kill them through the bars. I would raise the hardware cloth up to reach over the height of the chickens heads and cover the perch areas as well in order to prevent this, if trash pandas are found in your area. I'm hoping to have his coop one day soon. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip. We thought maybe to come back and put the hardware cloth a little bit higher but as time has gone on we realized it's not an issue so far. We do have trash pandas but the chickens can flee to the other side. If you have a small coop and run where they would have no means of distancing themselves fast enough away from the side with the predator then it would certainly be a big concern. I think it's a mix of height and depth protection. We'll probably extend the hardware cloth and the chicken run at the same time to give the hens more freedom and safety in the near future. Hope you get your coop soon. !

no one is telling me how to do the roof. The directions are lacking. Thanks for the idea for the deep bedding. I have some old 1x12s I think I'll use in front of the back door.

I do remember that the roof instructions weren't great. You have to kind of line up the roof panels so that they cover the roof maximally. Overlay each one and use the self tapping screws. The ridge cap covers the peak to protect against rain.

Ours is on uneven ground and it definitely took some leveling on blocks for a foundation but even then after several months of settling I had to adjust one corner because the door was hard to close. With the automatic door we don't worry much here in Texas about winter for chickens. Although since I brought electricity to it we could attach a heater inside for their extra comfort. But the temperature here is more than tolerable for chickens. Our bigger concern was actually the summer. The coop has a little morning shade and afternoon to evening shade where it is. Additionally I faced the chicken run toward the south such that the chickens in the winter could get some sunshine and heat in the run during the day and then hole up at night in the coop for warmth. In the summer the coop is on the north side so it doesn't have a direct wall with the South to avoid too much direct heat. We have a different video about running a heater in a dog house and I know a lot of people in the reviews for that product use it or the bigger model for their chicken coop. the product is called hound heater.
