This is the model I want to get when they become available once again. I had a MEC 600 Jr many years ago and sold it because it was too slow. It took forever to get a box of 25 done and much longer to do a couple hundred. I have Dillon RL-550B and XL-750 presses. I would be interested in their SL-900 if it wasn't $1,500. The MEC 9000GN is much more affordable and also a great press. It will fit my needs much better than the 600 Jr I once had. It won't take me many years, even a decade to break even over buying store bought shotgun shells either. I'm in once I can get one. Right now everything and anything is out of stock or scalpers are x 1.5 or x 2 the price. I will wait until they come back down to normal.

I like how it doesn’t drop powder or shot if there isn’t a hull there to receive it…my Mec Grabber 762 will drop if there isn’t one in the shell plate and makes a huge mess

@2:36 "..and the main thing is to making sure you have that primer in the carrier after station 1..". YOU"RE NOT KIDDING! if that primer isn't properly in the carrier all hell will break loose! I love this machine but I have to say that primer feeder mounting needs to be redesigned. Proper alignment is critical and quite difficult to get just right since the mount is just a couple of washers clamped on a powder-coated slot.

I have a 15yr old 9000G in 410, maybe loaded 500 rounds on it because it's constantly screwed up, might get 2 boxes loaded before it gets wonky and needs worked on for half an hour.

Hi Albert, Thank you for commenting. Question #1 Answer: The 9000GN is set for 2 ¾” only. There is a 3” kit but it is costly and takes around ½ hr to set up. Question #2 Answer: The best choice for reloading 2 ¾ , 3” and 3 ½” is the MEC Steelmaster #8755 along with a Short kit #8850. I bought one of these used, if I don’t have a hull in station 2 & 3 I get powder and shot everywhere. What adjustment should I look into?

Hi Scott K, Thanks for commenting! If the charge bar does not lock up properly when the shells clear the first two stations, follow the following instructions; -Make sure that the charge bar is completely traveling to the left. The small screw in the front of the bar should contact the left side of the chrome measure assembly when the press hits bottom. -The top side of the trip rod #670F should be flush with the top side of the drop tube bracket #670C when the press is in the down position with no shells in the reloader. If the trip rod is above the bracket, bend down on the trip rod bracket #670E slightly until the top of the trip rod is flush with the drop tube bracket. The trip rod bracket is half way down the trip rod. The bar lock spring #670B should also be checked to ensure that it is not weak. i use a 600 jr right now. how do you set the depth of the wad in a progressive loader if you were to change the bar?

Hi Clayton, On all MEC reloaders, the depth of the wad is controlled by raising or lowering the shot (rammer) tube #505B. If more wad pressure is needed then you would loosen the shot tube and lower it slightly. Normal loads with plastic wads do not require more than 25-30 lbs of wad pressure. What keeps the reloader from dropping powder and lead when there is no shell below the rams?

Hi Olen, Thanks for commenting. The charge bar will only release when there is a shell present at the 2nd station that is ready to accept the powder charge. When there is no longer a shell in the 2nd station then the charge bar locks back up to the left so it does not drop powder and shot. @@Pennyg0785 Thanks for commenting. When there is a shell in station two it compresses the lower reprime spring up. This allows the trip rod to remain proud. If the trip rod is binding it will stick up higher in which, will release the bar lock resulting in a powder dump. When there isn’t a shell in station two the trip rod should become flush with the drop tube bracket when the handle is pulled down. how do you set the amount of powder and shot load say 7/8 oz which will be go in every shell ?
