Marvin steiner strarted steiner tractors and his boys grew up working for him for the most part. He sold steiner tractors in 88 when he retired if you can call it that. 2 of his sons dallas and mark then started there own company in the 90s that later became ventrac. Marvin was never good at advetising he believed you build a better product and it will sell. Marvin and my great uncle were neighbors and good friends. He actually gave my my great uncle several tractors over the years to take care of his property with. Saidly they both passed away in the mid 90s.

I would love to see more of the differences between Ventrac and Steiner. Priced the same? The controls look different. Are all the attachments interchangeable including the Cabs, Engines, hydrolics etc. They seem so similar that the choice would be between the two dealers and where the dealers are located.
@russellbailey59523 жыл бұрын
Steiner was originally built at Kreiders machine shop in Rockingham county VA. They sold the company and agreed to stay out of the business for 5 years. During that period they designed and built the ventral adding the features and toughness they felt the Steiner was lacking. Both are great machines.

I pushed mine to the limit a week ago and almost got it stuck. I say almost, because I wiggled around and got a small tree between the mower and the front duals. I had to cut the tree down to get it out. It was on a steep grade. No other tractor, (except the Ventrac) would have came out of there without a tow. The only thing I don't like about it is the foot pegs are worthless, because when you make a sharp turn, one side about breaks your leg and the other side goes out of reach. It doesn't look like this one has the foot pegs. Also I use the hand control more than the foot control. It's just easier.

How heavy duty is the tree farm mower compared to the rough cut mower? Both Steiner and Ventrac regular brush cutter is too big to go in between the trees in our big slope area of the woods. My other question is s could the tree farm mower fit on the Ventrac?
@ront82615 жыл бұрын
I believe I read somewhere the Steiner family sold the Steiner tractor product line to Tektronix/Ransomes/Jacobsen; then, as Neal states, after a few years when the non-compete agreement expired, the Steiner brothers Venture Corporation started making Ventrac's, supposedly with slight differences to avoid Patent problems with the Tektronix/Ransomes/Jacobsen Steiner product.

Up front, I would say they’re more expensive. But when you look at the price of the attachments vs buying a dedicated machine for each task, you can save money in the long run. But then you get into the issue of “Jack of all trades master of none”

@Primerk55 жыл бұрын
@@eosjoe565 I'm not sure about ventrac but the older Steiners had a column lever as well
@emrythompson4 жыл бұрын
There is a S.D.L.A lever that you use to go forward and backwards, lift the front attachment, control speed, and the rear one controls the auxiliary function. These are beside you, not on the dash. You can also get a foot pedal for the Ventrac. I prefer my Ventrac over Steiner.

@malcolmcavalier78495 жыл бұрын
He did not actually move the tractor forward and backwards, what he did was wiggle it side to side with the steering wheel, it helps with implement hook-up. Parking brake has to be on in order to get off of seat if the engine is running
