I discovered this out just this summer. Products I loved during the cooler months, I then used with over 70 humidity in my area, the South. My hair literally frizzed THE DAY I APPLIED THE PRODUCT. I was confused, and no one was talking about it much. So I started doing research. I pulled back all of my glycerin products since that product that frizzed, glycerin was the 2nd ingredient. It’s fall now here in the South, humidity is much lower, I tried a glycerin product this week and have been back loving it. I literally started checking the weather online just like you did. And I thought I was the only one that had to do that!!! And now I know why I hear natural hair girlies say stuff about glycerin, but they never said why!!! It depends on your area/humidity!!! Glad I found this video, thank you!!! ❤️

Definitely depends on the porosity so I'm glad she mentioned that she is high porosity. I'm low porosity so this product is wondrous for me because it is difficult for things to absorb my strands.

I agree, if the DEW POINT is above 40 degree, this TGIN is the perfect product for drawing moisture to one's hair. With my high porosity hair, I'd be drawing in too much moisture and in my case of wanting to minimize lifted cuticle layers I'd stay away from this product in high humidity/dew point times.

Wow, this was a great video and very helpful to know. I’m low porosity so I’m not glycerin sensitive. However I do think that I should start looking into the dew point when using a product with glycerin. Honestly, Ive always noticed that when I used the products with glycerin and it was quite humid or rainy. My hair would just frizz up immediately and I could never understand why! Lol 😂 now I know better so I’ll do better

Thank you so much! Yes your hair's cuticle layers are being affected by the higher DEW POINT. The glycerin in the product that is applied to the hair is pulling a lot of the moisture in the air into the hair strands causing them to swell and lift the cuticle layers, preventing the hair strands from being smoothe, but instead frizzy. Another way to look at it, is the hair has more volume. 😉

Yeah. I use to use this product and during the spring/summer my hair use to get frizzy which I liked because gave my hair volume. Then the winter came and I didn’t like using this product anymore 🥴

Yes, SPRING/SUMMER are usually seasons with higher DEW POINT degrees than FALL/WINTER. You bring up a good point that with a higher DEW POINT (i.e., 50 degrees and higher), then you hair will be frizzier, which means look fuller and is a great look too. 🥰

this was so helpful, i love this product but my hair does frizz up after about 2 hours during the summer. Are there any curly creams you would recommend for higher dew points?

If you want to minimize "frizz", which is not bad overall because I now think of having a "fuller" look (look at my profile pic) but if you want a smoother look, then go for conditioners, especially leave-in conditioners that don't have a humectant, i.e., glycerin listed second on the ingredients label. In the Summer with high humidity/dew point, which is in the 60 degrees range, then using a product with a glycerin as it's main ingredient applied to your hair, then your hair will be taking in a lot of moisture, which will lift the cuticle layers of the hair strands making the hair be "frizzy" or fuller. Avoid conditioners that have humectant/glycerin listed second on the ingredients label.

Great video! Do you think this product is good to use to only moisturize hair that will be left under a wig and not left out in regards to the weather? If not do you have any other thick moisturizing product recommendations? Thank you!

All these products are great, but in this case in looking at the ingredients label, the main main ingredient after water is Glycerin, which relies pulling moisture from the air vs providing moisture with the ingredients, i.e. BTMS, Fatty Alcohols, etc. Your question about "under a wig" is separate. The same rules apply whether your hair is under a wig or not. Check the DEW POINT, and if the DEW POINT is too low or too high will determine whether you use this product or not. Wearing a wig, consider using products that feature Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Fatty Alcohols and other ingredients that actually coat the hair strands and don't rely on the DEW POINT. My basic go-to is Shea Moisture JBCO Strengthen and Restore Line. It does the job without the fuss.

I've only just started paying attention to the TGIN brand. I think I may have wasted a lot of money on other brands LOL.

@@ZalinaW I put it up against the rather expensive Miche Beauty last time and the very expensive Amika DC this time and both times the reasonably priced TGIN DC delivered far superior results immediately. Now how am I going to get myself to use up $100 worth of other DCs I bought at the same time when I already know the TGIN one is the one that will give me the best results? Dang.
