Whats the lenght of the set up broken down im trying to find a rod tube that will fit
@differentfins3 ай бұрын
I knew I measured this before for another commenter. I had to search for that reply but I found it. The case itself is 23" and the longest of the 4 pieces is 21.5". Hope this helps. Also I pinned your comment so i can find that answer faster in the future lol.

Love the ugly sticks.....the name does it for me haha. My son has one and he like it too. Great rods, we like them!

Yup hard to beat! If that is even possible. I feel their negative reputation stems from the fact they dont cost $400. Pretty sure it's an elitist thing. I've owned expensive rods and none of them I would say is better than any of my ugly sticks. Just because they are like $50 doesnt mean they suck.

They are super fun to catch and bait fishing man... sometimes you just gotta do it! I've had some expensive high end rods but I always seem to be drawn back to the Ugly Stiks and Berkley rods, and more recently the 13 fishing rods. When I saw this 4 piece travel rod I just had to get it. With the construction of modern day ferrules there is no reason companies don't make 4, 5 even 6 piece rods. They will be solid. So good for travelling!

Their are people who complain about products they have never purchased. Amazon pays for negative comments as they do good. I know a couple who are low income the husband does not fish but he complains about fishing products. Sorry to see things like that. I have used Shakespere rods since the 1950s never any problem.😊 That travel rod is a must have soon for me. Thanks for the great review.
@differentfins Жыл бұрын
People these days love to complain and don't even need a legitimate excuse. I love all the Ugly Stiks I have. They may not be the lightest or most sensitive but they are tough and I put them to work. I've owned expensive graphite rods like St. Croix and they worked amazing until they had to take a hard bend them they exploded like a dry twig. Durability is most important for me, the composite rods may be cheap but I feel the small bites just fine and I can handle a couple ounces extra weight. Cheers

When you cast with this rod, what you’ll have at the end of your line is the rod tip section. This is a chronic defect with this four-piece travel rod, that the tip section will not stay connected and flies off the rod. Go do a Google search for reviews of this rod and you’ll find many other customers experiencing the exact same thing. Even worse, the manufacturer will not honor its warranty and doesn’t respond to warranty claims from consumers. I wrote to them three separate times and never got a response. Avoid this piece of garbage product.

I ALSO have never had an ugly stick break. They are my rod of choice followed closely by the eagle claw ultralight collapsible pole. (Yellow in color). You may be interested in that rod as well Joe Another great video!
@differentfins2 жыл бұрын
Never heard of the Eagle Claw rod, if I see one maybe I'll check it out. I have one telescopic rod I've used for years. It's the Shakespeare Excursion. I use that rod when I go on hikes with the dog. I like tossing that in the backpack and people having no idea I am walking to a fishing hole lol. But it's very whippy and it says medium but I would call it medium light. I did however catch a few 5 pound bass and some big suckers on it this spring. It doesnt have backbone but is surprisingly tough. Cheers

Awesome video Joe!! Loved the ugly stick review. What an awesome rod. I would absolutely love to try fishing like that one day. Worm fishing for absolutely anything that swims. So exciting to not know what you are going to have at the end of the line!! Reminds me of my carp fishing in Toronto HAHA. So much fun to catch fish like carp, red horse and suckers. So overlooked. Can’t wait for the next one!!

The Plusino still looks like a decent travel rod. You did manage to get a couple nice fish in the territories using it. I just love the toughness of the Ugly Stik, I am confident it wouldn't snap when I need it to be strong. You know how important confidence is, can't put a price on that. Cheers

Been on the fence about buying one of these for months now. I want something I can leave in the trunk of my small car but also something I can bring with me when I travel. Have you had any issues with the pieces separating? I see a ton of written reviews with people complaining about separation. But none of the video on reviews mention it.
@differentfins11 ай бұрын
I mention that in this video. I never had any problems with the ferrules separating. I have read those reviews and think it's operator error. I find when I insert them about a quarter turn off and twist them to line them up they lock in nicely. They are the same connections and 2 piece rods, only difference is there is 4 pieces vs 2.

Honey hole. Very nice. Can you tell me more about your setup on the line? Or get me going in right direction? Gonna try the Columbia river up in in Eastern Washington.
@differentfins8 ай бұрын
Hey there. I show in full detail what I used for my rig later in the video. I've never fished Columbia River before. I guess the rig would depend on what you are targeting. I am assuming trout or salmon? They might take a nightcrawler like I used for redhorse and walleye but maybe something else works better. Best bet would be to ask some of the locals, or bait shop workers. They would have that insider knowledge. Cheers

@differentfins2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question! It's not listed on the rod lol. I dont hear about people in North America talk about casting weight often, only when I watch KZbinrs in Europe. It is rated for 6-15 pound test and is 6'6" (1.98m). The weight I was casting this video was 2 ounce (56 grams) and had no problems tossing that.

I actually have an old telescopic rod I still use today. It is a Shakespeare Excursion (they probably dont make them anymore). It is very whippy but I've caught some 5 pound bass on it and a few strong suckers. It has stood up to them fish. But I mainly use that rod to target sunfish, perch, etc...

I have two times exactly the bad experience with this specific ugly stick. Pros: #1 . Easy to set up and carry mean transport. #2. Nice design Cons: #1. Super fragile, breakdown without to much power. #2. Easy to separate during your angler cast. Super frustrating when you throw the bait and came apart. 😳 In one month I broken down 2 of them on the exact connection attachments. The glass just got cracked easily. Looks solid, unfortunately it is not how looks. God bless everyone.

It's a pretty solid travel rod. I have another old one that is telescopic that I take everywhere travelling, I've caught some nice fish on it but it has almost no backbone. The Ugly Stik has a lot more hooking power. I would love a 4 piece rod like this that is MH or H power.

To be honest I don't use the rod most days so it sees very little wear and tear. It is my travel rod to toss in the car on a road trip or place in my bag when flying. I am in the Arctic right now and it is up here with me... maybe I'll have an update later this week. It is an Ugky Stik though and they seem to last forever.

I can afford more expensive rods than ugly stik however I dont see the point in spending the extra money because I am hard on my gear. Im not a professional fishermen and I have kids rhat are harder on my gear haha. Ugly stik has never failed me however st croix has amongst others and I was not rough on them by any means.
@differentfins5 ай бұрын
Oh 100% the St Croix 4 piece rod I had before was lighter and more sensitive. But like every other expensive rod I've owned it eventually broke. If you are one of those guys who takes 12 rods to the lake you can afford to have one or two break but the warranty doesn't comfort you when you are fishing in the backcountry and your only rod breaks. Even if they were the same price I would take an Ugly Stik over the St Croix. Honestly the new Ugly Stiks are getting much better yet still keep their rugged toughness
