Sharing my day as a self employed jewelry artist! :) It was a productive day of taking jewelry photos, at home and in the nature and preparing for the shop update. My new branded materials arrived (care instructions and contact details cards that I add to my orders). Oh, and I'm finally introducing my new studio assistant! She's a cutie! :) I hope you enjoy this studio vlog. Love, Basia x

Lovely vlog. The unset gemstones you showed us are all beautiful. The largest garnet cabachon looked so pretty with light passing through it. It would be really special if that feature could be preserved in the setting of that stone. Love your vlogs and love seeing you design and create your jewelry. Koda is adorable and clearly loves you.

That's so sweet of you, thank you! 🥰 oh, I totally agree! I'm thinking either making an open back bezel, so that the light can pass through the gem, or making the silver back plate very shiny, to reflect the light. While I would prefer an open back, I'm afraid that this gem might be too exposed, which may cause it to break or crack easier. I need to double check how fragile garnet is and if it could withstand this type of setting 👍 I'm so happy to hear that you enjoy my vlogs! I'm going to share them a bit more often now, after the move and having my studio space close by 🥰

I wondered the same thing about that garnet. Garnets are around 7 on the Mohs scale, ranging from 6.5 to 7.5 depending on the type of garnet. I do not know if they are fracture prone. Maybe you could make a setting where the back has areas cut out to let light through. I am thinking about how stained glass and cutwork embroidery look. The network of silver you leave in the design would help support and protect the garnet. @TheArtOfMetalsmithing

Hi, sorry not commenting on your jewellery. it’s about your pup, please don’t let it have sticks. I worked for a vet for a while and we would get a lot of dogs in that ended up with splinters, not just in their mouth but stuck in their oesophagus and stomach. It can be very costly. Get a frisbee or similar.

Thanks for that info. This was way back when she was a puppy and this was actually one of the rare occasions when she did have a stick. Since then we're not giving her sticks anymore and make sure she's not picking up any by herself. You're right, there's lots of little bits and pieces that can be harmful and I can't control how much of that stick she eats or which pieces will hurt her mouth. So to be safe she's not having any of those (to her disappointment 😅). We have special chewing toys for her and plushies that are safe for dogs 👍

Your dog is absolutely adorable! My own studio assistant looks so much like her, though he's a little old man now and has a grey face. Looking forward to seeing more of Koda on the channel! And your new pieces are really lovely! Thank you for another great video!
