I often reorder the same stuff so while that’s more focused on frequency, there are opportunities for discovery / find new products / learn / discuss results with others.

I used to watch many video reviews on YT before buying a skincare product. This goes the other way too, where I passively watch reviews and are then influenced to buy them. Now Ive narrowed the list down to a few people Ive come to trust, namely doctors and cosmetic chemists. It seems to me that one of the hardest decisions you’ll have to make is which creators to put on top of the list and which to put farther down. I’m not sure that YT video likes is good enough to use for a ranking based system to prevent misinformation (and to spread good information). Good luck on this journey. Im rooting for your success!

So excited to follow you on your journey Marsela. I'd like to add some input for you on your new business venture. Please consider some kind of way to also search by diversity. POC, specifically Black women, have an added layer of complexity when searching for reviews by also needed a filter for black skin care reviews. So many times I've spent HOURS combing the net for product reviews to turn around and buy a product and still not be satisfied because there was a lack of reviews by black people. Sadly, there is still so many areas that isn't inclusive for us and it will be nice to finally see this embedded into everything :)

in my experience i’m almost always sticking with the products i’ve been using, specially bc trying to find the right product for me is way too time consuming since I have to look for reviews, i can’t tell whether it would look good on me or not, etc. And when it comes to skincare i have a really sensitive skin so i can’t just go with whatever people are suggesting, i need a more professional opinion on it. so yeah, i’m basically sticking with what i’ve been using unless my friends put me on sth new and i get to try it from them. hope it helps! :)

@@marselaaa yes! that’d be really helpful, and being able to know the ingredients helps a lot too bc i can see what’s in there and then decide if it would be appropriate for my skin. the way I shop new products is i usually have to go to a dermatologist and ask what i should buy. but that’s kinda annoying bc i have to spend extra money, more time, etc. it’d be very helpful if i could easily find opinions from professionals and for products to have the ingredients and properties shown easily. :)

When shopping for new skincare products it depends on how desperate I am to try something new. Besides reading reviews, I will literally go into the store & see what catches my eye. Then use my phone to look up more information on it. I have patience for researching new products but for me it definitely becomes tedious that I continuously use the same routine/products over and over again.

It’s more of a new shopping experience - rather than looking at list of products when you’re wanting to buy, the idea is you shop by searching through reviews from people with similar skin types!

I stick with Dr. Drey. Her videos are very long and a bit dense. At this point, it's hard for me to trust anyone who is not a dermatologist anymore. I am older and watch a lot of beauty gurus come and go. Some of the products they recommended are okay and before I use to participate in that process.

You probably get this a lot but seeing this is really inspiring but also so relatable. Thanks for choosing to share it with us ❤️ I also love travel vlogs and did not feel like this vlog was chaotic at all. In response to your startup idea, I really love that! I don’t know a ton about makeup so I often won’t buy new things because it feels overwhelming. I do like to watch KZbin videos or read reviews about the products before I get them. Creating the v1 you described sounds good. If you can attract consistant traffic towards existing content in one place, then creators will be enticed for your original content proposals if they see a way to reach new viewers. Makes sense to me.
