Thankyou so much for this wonderfully illuminating discussion on nutrition, diet & supplements. The 50 shades of grey analogy perfectly describes what’s hot and dispels some of the myths and dangers around self medicating and the more substantiated evidence based approaches to Parkinson’s medicine. Parkinsons UK is holding Par-con a research conference coproduced with people with Parkinson’s in 2024. I don’t see the diet and nutrition or environmental/connection/social aspects being given serious attention in the research field so I for one will be pushing for change.

Thank you so much. I'm disappointed that red wine is not good for me. I learned that my bowls are giving me such horrible troubles. This Dr is ready to understand

Organically grown red wine? It's the pesticides Almond milk is also a high danger for pesticides so I am choosy about where mine is grown in hope of lowering pesticides. Soy too, as Roundup Ready. Disgusting that the residual levels allowed in foods (of Glyphosate) were raised by 100x after lobbying and industry cherry picked studies were used as marketing tools

I had constipation problems for 10 years. My home health care provider makes me a clear high protein drink in jello with mixed fruits from a can. Amazingly my stool became significantly softer and my constipation has stopped. After 4 trips to the ER for blocked bowls, this combination of jello, canned fruit cocktail and a clear high protein drink has been a real blessing.

Prof. Bloem and many others talk about the connection between Parkinson's and pesticides. Then wouldn't you expect couples to contract the disease, since they eat similarly and move in the same environment, yet I've never heard of both a husband and wife who have contracted Parkinson's. Any thoughts?
@Pauline-bg6ud11 ай бұрын
This disease begins very early in life with symptoms that were not known earlier. So exposure to spraying for mosquitoes in Manitoba is probably a childhood exposure before marriage

@@ziontours5893 not necessarily , exposure rates differ, general health differs,, however I know of 2 incidents where this is the case… my friend just died and both she and her brother had Parkinson’s,,, they were children in Germany during the war and were stuck behind the Iron Curtain, and my x and his sister both have Parkinson’s and their sister has died of a blood disease… one brother is fine… my x son in law, is the only healthy person in his family of 6…

Question: my husband was diagnosed with PD in 2021 during his chemotherapy sessions. He had some rare tremors before his whippel surgery and before the chemotherapy sessions but the shaking and the PD symptoms get triggered after the chemotherapy. Is there any relation between chemotherapy and PD? Thank you 🙏

Even though I hear lots of good advice, his lack of knowledge about nutrition worries me. He says that in order to prevent malnutrition, one simply has to increase calories. How can an expert say something silly like that? And also, since Parkinsons is a metabolic disease related to high insulin levels in the brain (which can't be used by the cells), the best way is to replace carbs by fats, so the brain is able to use ketones, and the gut microbiome can start to heal. High fiber is only required on a high carb diet, so replace carbs and the fiber isnt an issue anymore. The are thousands of studies about the effects of keto on parkinsons, so very strange that he could only cite one pilot study. Looks like he didnt do his homework well enough.

Cherry picks a video of one person who must have overdosed on magnesium. This Dr is stuck to if no clinical trials I won't look at it. Ignores everything that isn't outside of the clinical recommendations. he has a closed mind. Sinemet stops working and then what does he have nothing, because his mind is closed. 10 years on from Parkinson's see what he does for you then. I am lucky to have a very well known neurologist who has an open mind who tells me the truth that Dr's can do so much and you need to be your own Doctor. Years of research and arrogance by Dr's like this one who thinks I am the Dr and I know best. The fact is Big Pharma won't fund trials of different therapies that they can't make money out of it. Governments should fund trials that the big pharma won't fund. It's alright for Bloes to say there are no clinical trial so i won't recommend the treatment is a cop out. He doesn't want to admit he doesn't know and he doesn't have the answers. I am more interest in neurologist who have the balls to try something different instead of hiding behind clinical trials. Why doesn't Bloem try and do clinical trials to find an alternative. This bullshit I don't like to call them patients. I have watched a few videos of his and it is the same same with no answers or I hide behind clinical trials. lets look at clinical trials it shows Sinemet works so we will ignore everything else. he never talks about Sinemet side affects or what happens when you have been taking it for 5 years or more.
