INGREDIENTS
2 cup (300 g) all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp (15 g) sugar
1 Tbsp (9 g) baking powder
½ tsp (3 g) baking soda
¾ tsp (4 g) salt
1 ¼ cup (310 mL) buttermilk
1 egg
¼ cup (60 mL) vegetable oil
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat the oven to 400 F and line 2 baking trays with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk the buttermilk, egg and oil together. Add this to the flour mixture and stir just until blended.
4. Use an ice cream scoop or 2 tablespoons to drop batter (about ¼ cup each) onto the prepared baking trays, leaving 2-inches between them. Bake the biscuits for about 15 minutes until they are a light golden brown and lift away from the parchment easily.
5. Serve the biscuits warm from the oven, or re-heated at 300 for 10 minutes. The biscuits are best enjoyed the day they are baked.

Dear Anna, it's hard to find buttermilk in Thailand, so I changed to 150g of yogurt and 150 g of milk. I also changed vegetable oil to butter. It came out really nice. My family loves it, thank you so much for the recipes.

My mom and grandmother in NC taught me how to make buttermilk biscuits...no measure! I have to measure...but I do use good buttermilk! Now grandma used shortening and or lard...but I use half butter and half shortening...hmmmmm? Egg? Never done that....I remember mom and grandma just using two soup spoons to place the biscuits on the pans...man they could cook; and it always amazed me....no cook books! I wrote down all their recipes and now I have Hx in a book...and now that they wait for me in heaven I will pass this cook book on to my sons, who both love to cook, and I might add, my younger son, is planing on opening a food truck after his 20 in the Army...which is only 4 more years...he will only be 39! Thank u Anna!

Lived in London and visited my moms relatives in Scotland and my Dear Aunt Bella made scones with marmalade and clotted cream! I used raspberry jam and clotted cream....yum to the moon! And I’ve never tasted them since. I try to copy the recipe, but as many cooks from the last century , they never wrote their precious recipes down, so she took them To heaven... I watched as she rolled out her scones and made them like triangles. She’d give me a little dough and my own little rolling pin and I of course made a mess. What memories.....They were the best. I do make my own buttermilk biscuits and they taste close...have u ever had the clotted cream? Decadent! Love ur show Anna! I know u are busy but I’m just a dear observer and appreciate gr8 food! Bless u!

I'm making a batch right now and I noticed that the batter was a bit more fluid than Anna's but I still baked them. Turned smoother than expected. Maybe I added too much liquid but I measured everything so yeah...don't know what happened.
