Had mine at 15 but tore it when I was 14. I think along with overuse there's throwing too hard with no strength foundation.

Hi, I'm getting TJ surgery soon. I'm a javelin thrower and had a PRP injection for a partial UCL team in August and it was successful for about 6 months before the pain came back. What my doctor told me was that some tears respond better to PRP than others. Mine was called a distal tear which doesn't do as well with PRP apparently

Great episode , you say long toss and weighted balls are great programs. All the guys shake their heads and agree . You didnt talk much about these programs and the affect it could have had in their injuries. Is it a coincidence that almost all athletes with the Tommy John surgery has used a weighted ball program?

The first guy said he never felt pain unless it was in the bicep. Then he mentioned overthrowing. I touched his arm in the lower bicep area. My son has that same pain and has never had any arm issues. Any insight into that?

When I had bicep pain, I was told that it was due to my arm attempting to decelerate. I had to put an emphasis on finishing with my hand outside of my hip and it went away. Not sure if it’s for everyone though.

@@houstonhebert6431 no. That makes a ton of sense. He has started to do that better. And now he’s dealing with a damn nerve issue in his arm. Tough sport, injuries are the devil.

@@natanaelpinet8884 how you doing? If it still hurts take a long break don’t pitch every 3 days. Make sure your not pitching to get sore.

Maybe kids should focus on school instead of playing 3 or 4 sports? Also, not all kids who end up needing surgery were overused or overplayed. Avoid painting people with a broad brush.

Why do you go back to the same way of pitching after Tommy John surgery? Time to rethink your baseball mechanics, there's another way otherwise you may have to do it all over again. Why do that because you were taught that way? It's time to rethink baseball pitching. Why pitch from the stretch with no Runners on base? What happened to the full windup? The teachings of today's swing your kicking foot away back leaning forward generating a slingshot pitch with a longer stride and throwing hard across your body with just arm and your kicking foot hitting the ground like a brake and twisting your hips. Plus the rest of your body trying to catch up with your arm after the throw and your pitching arm leg is up in the air or is just dragging along. Today pitching is incomplete. What's it going to take Tommy John surgery, broken arm or pitcher's getting hit. Bring back the forward wind up. Your kicking foot with a more comfortable stride hitting the ground with momentum forward with other foot pushing off the rubber with more momentum forward so that pitcher bring the rest of the whole body same time for your pitching arm with pushing off leg go together. Bringing body more forward bending your back, with your delivery leg is more in front of you so you can be more ready for a line drive. Pitching this way is complete follow through will save you from Tommy John. When you finish your throw, your pushing off foot is going to be your brake. Your whole body is throwing the ball not just arm. Anyone can throw hard it better to pitch smart not hard.
