Akihiko has some of the best partner dances in the game precisely because of the lack of coordination with most of them. Because it's perfect characterization. Mitsuru can wrangle him into line a little, and Ken can pull him into coordination, but he's mostly out there fighting on his own, even on the dance floor.

The Shinji/Mitsuru dance is underrated because of the quality of the dances sandwiching it, but it's one of the best partner dances in the game, and shows a rare vulnerable Mitsuru.

It's also amazing where not only does it show Mitsuru as vulnerable, but she still couldn't support Shinji when she starts getting overwhelmed by the problems her family's companies have caused for everyone and herself as she runs off at the end of the sequence.

My favorite bit in Sho & Makoto is just Makoto walking towards him. Sho has a sword pointed at his chest and another ready to swing, Makoto has _maybe_ his Evoker, but he doesn't even reach for it, he just walks towards the crazy dude with the swords with his _hands in his pockets_ and _Sho_ is the one who backs away. Not just "no effs given", Makoto outright _intimidates_ the guy while unarmed. He's so freakin' cool! Also Shinji and Ken crushed my heart and I don't think I'm ever going to recover.

One of my favorite bits of Shinji's choreography is how right after the Fever Time ends he walks backwards reaching his hand out to the partner BUT when Ken dances with him, Ken reaches out to him the same way right before the end of the Fever Time so they match up together 😭 EDIT (Like a whole day later): Checking it again and ACTUALLY Shinji's gesture after the end of Fever Time is only TOWARDS his partner when he dances with Ken, because the other 3 leave the stage the other way (behind him instead of in front of him), so it only works that way with Ken 🥲

I absolutely adore Shinji’s partner dances. All of them speak to the different relationships he has with the cast that dances with him. Makoto and him are connected a bit, but it’s clear Makoto is having a bit of a hard time staying with Shinji because he’s not as familiar with him as Akihiko or Mitsuru. Mitsuru is a lot more in time with him, but ultimately you can still feel a real disconnect between the two. Akihiko is completely in sync with him most of the time, because they both know each other the best. And Ken…oh boy, that one also makes me tear up. I also adore Makoto’s dance with Sho. At first for me it seemed like an odd choice, like maybe they just needed a fourth and said “Hey, let’s throw Makoto in there,” but after thinking about it more, this is the way I interpret it: even though they never meet, I interpret this as showing that Sho would never have even lasted a second in P4AU with Makoto around. Unlike the other partners, who are mostly on the defensive and are clearly struggling with Sho’s power, Makoto easily handled him, and even walks away from him without turning back. Not to say Narukami is a slouch (he did beat him after all), but even he had a hard time with Sho. In short, this is the answer (haha see what I did there?) to the what-if scenario of Makoto facing off against Sho.
@nahte1234562 жыл бұрын
In fairness to Makoto and Sho, Makoto isn't just a monster due to power but his attitude. Perhaps best shown in the first movie, when he, Junpie, and Yukari first enter Tartarus he instantly starts running at enemies, summoning his Persona right in their face and blasting fire as he's there. Makoto would not put up with Sho's shit, Sho captures the others like in Ultimax and Makoto will go right to Armageddon. He'll sort out the details later, after he's won.

For anyone who’s curious, here’s the rough average scores for each dancer: Makoto: 90,88 Ken: 90,63 Akihiko: 58,13 Mitsuru: 86,67 Elizabeth: 71,33 Yukari: 88,67 Fuuka: 68,57 Aigis: 89,72 Shinjiro: 105 Junpei: 91 Theodore: 97 Labrys: 87,14 Sho: 98,75 Things to keep in mind: For my own sanity I decided to simplify the scores a little. So every dance in the 80-85 for example were counted as 80. This means that the averages are not 100% accurate, but I do not have thw time to get the exact scores. The 100+ all got 105 points, the Ken Shinji dance got 115 and the Akihiko tiers got 10 and 20 points respectively. Idk if anyone asked for these, but since I made the calculations I might as well share them here!

Agreed. The spin-off games let the personalities of these characters shine after their story arcs (both personal and main plot wise). Fuuka is not empty-headed, she's just shy around boys. It's obvious that there are 2 dances for each fever, instead of four, and that they change with the partner's gender, so I think my theory makes sense. Also her Heartful Cry dance suffered from story telling, because she was the only person on both sides in that fight and she is trying to protect everybody in her dance. Doesn't look too good but it has meaning. P.S I know I am trying too hard to protect her, but that's what my heart is saying

what i get from makoto's and shinji's is how the both don't care about their own lives but put others above them, hence the reason they have similar choreography, and for me the reason he looks away is the guilt that someone else died for another, and how makoto is still around after that and if we're going from the movies, both have a lot of comparible aspects, first seeming unkind or uncaring they have softs spots for others and are naturally nice and kind people, shown by the choreography, and the reason makoto looks away is the guilt of being the reason that shinji is dead, as the consequence of his selfeshness wanting to keep the dark hour, leaving many people traumatized much like shinji did with ken, which is why shinji leaves SEES and tries to become a wall and makoto does the same before meeting ryoji in the 3rd movie

I actually really liked Akihiko and Fuuka in Wiping All Out, it definitely feels like Fuuka is scanning for shadows outside of his immediate visibility while he's going ham on those near him, like... It's a great battle reenactment moment for me- Akihiko rushing in fists ablazing with Fuuka doing her job and making sure he's safe, and he appreciates how she supports his style and acknowledges her for it at the end. Like for two of the worst spacecases when it comes to partner dancing, the way these two managed to interact and work together *just enough* here was genuinely impressive and definitely felt telling of the importance of a navigator looking over your frontline fighters, especially the reckless ones!

A dancing game making you cry because it's Persona 3 flavored... sounds about right.

I've watched this a ton of times but I only just noticed that at 5:14 Makoto stops for a moment before Yukari makes the hand gesture pointing him out to the 'audience'.

I desperately need crysthaal to break down her reaction to Ken and shinji’s dance because she just went through like 4 of the 7 stages of grief

This video is a jewel for someone who are curious about P3D but have no playstation😊 I was searching for all dance videos since I got so touched after watching Aragaki&partners dancing. And there are so much more precious and interesting dances in this game! And that Akihiko the PROTEIN is so funny😂😂 It is interesting to see how he changes from PROTEIN to partner. These dances implicit so much about characters and relationships that I even feel like I played P3R one more time. I am sure I am gonna watch this vid again and again. Thanks!

I just realized that makoto, yuu and Akira have ways of dancing that suit almost all their friends, emphasizing their position as wildcarts.3 people who use more than one "Persona" as if they always had a mask for each person they meet

I was so happy to have catched this stream, it was a blast seeing you have fun with P3's cast dances, though I feel like Ken's Mass destruction dance with Jenpei was a little unfairly scored since it wasn't really a dance, can't wait to see more of your content

I like how Junpei’s character(and growth) comes out very well in dances, being the support and matching the energy of his partner when needed. I really love him. If only we got a fan service dance with him and Chidori tho. 😔

After I discovered your channel and the P5 and P5 dance tier lists, I spent this past year slogging through P3 FES (Tartarus made it hard to play tbh) just so I could watch this whole video and understand the choreography. I was rewatching the P4 (fav game) dance tier list over and over and history is repeating itself with this video, as I keep coming back to it. Your breakdowns and reactions are so fun, that even I feel like dancing haha! Hope to see you revisit these like you mentioned in a previous comment! + Junpei is goated at dancing 🔥

now you should rate the ending team dances. All 3 persona groups do well together in the finally dances.

Good please someone notice that Minato/Makoto is following in Shinjiro’s footsteps physically during the dance while also following in his footsteps *metaphorically* as both of them end up dying…

what if in Makoto and Aigis' first partner dance, Makoto did a dip into Aigis' arms and leaned on her knee for a second. I think I would backflip out of a window

Absolutely criminal how they blatantly steal Kotone's songs and don't even include her as a DLC character.
