The 23 F250 powerstroke is a dream. Just change the fuel filters and crank case filter and use Archoil or hotshots additive and you won't have any problems

In these large trucks you need steps. I mean, I am 6'1" and still need them to get in and out. Of course I am old and stiff too.

Im not a fan of diesels made in the last 20 years due to reliability, but if your towing 10,000 in the mountains a diesel would be the better choice. I don't tow alot mostly just haul a few thousand on the truck itself so either gas engine will do what i need without the complicated heavier powerstroke. I do more offroading and hauling only light towing less than 8,000 so i picked the 7.3 gas. Its been good so far but only a year old.

Long story short, our camper is a Grand Design 324MBS. 37 feet and GVWR is 14K. We tow it maybe 4 times a year. I want your exact truck and it will be a daily driver for work. Is it enough concerning suspension and the gasser? Getting out of our Ram 2500 gasser.

No disrespect intended but I’m a class a driver in Los Angeles. Calling someone who drives a pickup truck is not the same.

I have class A CDL as well, but I think he's calling him a professional due to what he does & how long he has done it which looks like he has been driving a truck. I'm sure he didn't mean to offend anyone who drives tractor trailer.

Ford has sky high numbers, but I think they more for marketing than reality. They say their regular cab long bed diesel will tow similar to crew cab (around 20k), meanwhile chevy specs are more real to state bumper towing for a similar truck is much lower because of physics and overal weight distribution. A lighter weight especially gas 2wd truck doesn't have enough weight up front and middle to handle it well. I'll tow 14k-15k with my 24 chevy duramax (standard bed, crew cab). Pulling 10k+ is okay on a 14 foot dump trailer because it's short, but on a longer 24 foot trailer isn't great...sigificant difference using gooseneck. My 2 cents is you really should be using a gooseneck if you want to pull a 24foot 10000+ trailer for any truck...when you got a 7500-8000 LB truck, putting nearly 2000 LB on the back has lever effect that is accentuated on slopes and bumps...don't care which brand it is. Just because the truck technical specs say it can do it, doesn't mean you should or the truck will do it well...regular non-HD trucks can tow 10k...maxed out and do so poorly...you really notice on steeper downhills and can be scary how long it takes to stop if you're not used to it. Engine isn't the concern really...the non-dually HD trucks rear end/chassis is good for up to around 14k realisitically...suspect they are intentially designed for that in mind because the target audience is non-CDL people who will be under 26k combined. My 2 cents you should be no more than 80% of the limit (the less the better really). My truck can do 19k gooseneck on paper...based on how it handles 14-15k, I'd say realistically no way that would be too much unless you're on perfect conditions...flat straight roads with zero traffic. I wouldn't tow heavy (over 10k) with a gas truck after using diesel. There's just no reason to make that choiice...I don't think anyone is like 'let me save 10k and try towing with gas.' Some people more than likely don't understand the difference because they never had a diesel...for towing it's a night and day difference. I personally don't see why someone would get a 7.3 truck for heavy towing as well...with how ford prices things you're not really saving much vs diesel. For most people, 7.3 vs 6.8 would be too similar to matter...the gearing you get would make the most difference...you can get a 4.3 6.8 or 7.3 truck, but probably wont find one a dealer lot or even used. Either way... if you want to tow a lot, you really should be getting the diesel...I'd say most people know this. People might not like the idea of diesel complexity emissions systems, def etc fearing they'll break. They're all complicated computer driven trucks...even gas. They all have problems and it's just a roll of dice what breaks on yours... more than likely the powertrain will be fine and other stuff will break. Diesels have a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty...most people don't keep their car/truck past 3 years...guy buying used will get it 2 years old and still have 3 years of warranty left. I wouldn't own any car/truck past 5 years honestly...if it was a lexus or toyota, perhaps I could do 8 years max. Unless you're really struggling financially or you don't really drive it much (it's your secondary or work truck), there's no reason to drive an old car/truck...people struggling financially will buy cheap used clunkers and not even considering something 2 years old or new.

I am a retired professional truck driver, I still have my Class A cdl, Have over 2 million otr miles across the whole country, so pulling heavyweights in and out of mountains is just everyday stuff. However pulling 10,000-30,000 lbs is not pulling heavyweights. No disrespect intended. Now does this Ford Tremor have an engine brake of ant kind? You guys never mentioned that accessory which my 2019 RAM 2500 with 6.7 turbo diesel has. The engine brake makes towing in mountains a whole lot easier and saves your brakes too!
@Kevinlivinloud7 күн бұрын
Are you referring to an exhaust brake? If so, then no it does not. But the 6.7 diesel does in a Tremor. This is a 7.3 gas engine so yes it does have engine brake just like most things. If you're wanting to pull heavier than 18,000 lbs then get a diesel.
