How's the ride in that rig? I've heard a few people say the truck rides better without the added weight of the diesel. The F350 King Ranch 4x4 DRW 7.3 is pretty much my dream truck. Always thought I wanted a diesel...right up until I read about all the stuff involved with owning one. Now, I'm just fine with the 7.3.

I have a ‘21 F350, 7.3l , 3.73 rear. Tow a 8400# tt. In 14k of towing thru the PNW hills & mtns I’ve averaged 10.3. The best was 13mpg ( flat 50 mph leg) & worst was 7mpg ( good sized headwind). Usually at 62-64 mph. Currently one leg of this trip is at 10.7 mpg going up the Gorge. Only a very few trips empty but ~17 -17.5 mpg at 65 mph. 11-13 city. Very pleased with those results.

I have a 22 F-350 with the 7.3L, and 3.73 gearing. Hand calculated over the last 18K miles I'm averaging 12.3 with a mixture of towing, and city driving. Simply running around town as my daily driver I consistently get around 12.5 - 13.5. Again, hand calculated using the "Fuelly" app each fill up. I've noticed my lie-o-meter is off by .5 - .8 mpg saying I got better than I actually did.

I have a '24 CCLB with 4:30 gears. My mileage is in the ballpark of yours. More than half my miles are towing a 10k fifth wheel and it gets about 10.2mpg towing that. City driving mileage is pretty bad, down in the 9.5 area. That's urban city stop and go type traffic. But that's okay, I did not buy it to drive around the city. It actually does better mileage towing the trailer at highway speed than it does empty in the stop and go city. Great truck for towing and we love it. I have only run RUL, which is mostly 87 octane.

Just bought one of these monsters. 2024 F250 Tremor 4.30. Seeing 15mpg empty on highway (will this get better, i only have 180 miles on it?), also for the 'average mpg' screen, can you choose the distance the average is for? My chevy lets me pick 25,50,100 miles to see my average
@automotiveinquiries96733 ай бұрын
@samfrench959 congrats on the new rig. I think 15 is excellent and I've only seen 14.5 best. That being said, depending on options and extra weight that can affect mpgs. I always have my hitch and chains and gear in back so about 800 lbs of extra stuff. Plus mine is a lariat ultimate so extra weight for that junk. As for the average, you can reset it whenever or use the trips but the Super duties don't do the per drive like f150s or the per miles like they used to.

@automotiveinquiries9673 I'm not trying to insult you, but the 7.3 godzilla is a 10.5:1 compression engine. A 10.5:1 compression ratio requires 91 octane at the least. You're probably killing fuel mileage because the engine isn't running optimally.
@automotiveinquiries9673Ай бұрын
@nieckeodaucsavage2164 not insulted at all. The Godzilla has octane sensors that dial down if you use the minimum octane if 87, which Ford does allows. Ford also allows up e10 to e15 fuel, not to be confused with e85 which it is not compatible with that. I almost always use 91 octane period, or ethanol free or clear gas which is 87 to 89 octane. I see no performance difference in those, although Ford does say that 91 unlocks the full money of power. I also don't see a huge mileage improvement using 91 over the others. As a good rule of thumb I always use premium, my pops always said to do that, but having Ford say you can put 87 does save some money to people that need to save where they can. I would always say to anyone, never use a lower octane than what the manufacturer suggest as the minimum.

@automotiveinquiries96733 ай бұрын
@khonesavanhchandara7044 absolutely, if a tundra is getting it done the 7.3 in a 250 or 350 Will definitely handle it with no issues. At 10k lbs, I'd say 3.73 locker and you'll be good without grabbing the 4.30. But if you need an off road truck then you can also opt for the tremor. But if you don't off road, I'd do the fx4 package and it would be good.
