I was a student in the Theology department at Birmingham in 1982 and John Hick led his philosophy of religion course in the seminar room on the fourth floor of the arts faculty. A great mind and a very great scholar. I have read his books progressively in later years and realised more than I did then what an eclectic mind he had. He has dedicated his life not just to his own internal reflections but in trying to educate the rest of us in thinking globally beyond the strictures of our own particular traditions. Well, he contributed to my own lifetime of teaching and I thank him for that. RIP John, you have left a great legacy for all of us to ponder and reflect upon.

RIP Professor Hick... Your writings made a profound and positive life-changing effect in my life and faith. I thank you (and did thank you) for all you have done to liberate faith from the grip of fundamentalism and dogmatic belief. Your legacy lives on... and rightly deserves to do so!

Rest in peace John Hick. We love you in our philosophy class, you came from our hometown of Scarborough, we were so sad when we heard you had passed away. You are with God now ♥

Interesting man:) Very impressive biography! All the way from fundamentalism to quite pluralistic world view... The Christ though still in the Center!

"flame of knowledge". That phrase reminds me of the symbol of Baphomet.

All the students have this look on them like they're completely unworthy to be hearing Hick's words.

Well I have to say, with due respect, I don't exactly agree with every thing he said... for example, not all religions view all people as equal, it is just a fact!
