Casting Magic more commonly known as "SpellBreaker" is a banger Pursuit Themes are used for when you cornering a culprit into confessing to their crimes. It's usually right when the hype builds up to making the accusation in the story when a Pursuit theme drops

Amazing cross-over game. The best mystery solver and the greatest attorney of the DS and 3DS eras coming together was such a no-brainer. This specific theme is from the Ace Attorney bits of the game, from when you are exposing the truth of the current case.

As the name implies, "Pursuit" Tracks from the Ace Attorney Series are generally when you're going on the offensive in the courtroom, chasing the truth, the true culprit, justice, basically anything good. Classifying it as a "Battle Theme" is actually pretty accurate, as they can often serve as a sort of "If I stop "attacking" I'll lose the case, so, Go go go!" kind of track. These tracks tend to be high energy like this one, since they typically show up at moments which are highly intense critical moments in the trials themselves, and each one is fantastic. As for the differences between the games, the two actually are technically both visual novels, with Ace attorney using its Court Segments primarily for its gameplay and Professor Layton instead using Puzzles for the same role in his games. The two are actually quite similar on a fundamental level as a result of this so a collaboration is a lot more feasible than one would normally expect (since all you really need to do is add puzzles to what is normally an "investigation" section between courtroom segments in an Ace attorney game and bam, collaboration done). As for "What" Ace Attorney is, the best description I've ever heard to explain what specifically it is to someone who knows nothing about it without spoiling anything about it is "Imagine a Collection of 4-5 Murder Mysteries where your job is to solve them in court". That's essentially what Ace Attorney is, a collection of "Courtroom drama" visual novels, so its usually kind of over the top and silly (thus where all the Pointing and Objection and other AA references all over the internet come from). This... ended up a way bigger comment than I expected or intended it to be. Hopefully its not too much of a wall of text, but I made sure to avoid anything that could even be considered a "Spoiler" while trying to help fill in the gaps a little bit (at least on the Ace attorney side, since this track falls into that category). Hopefully its helpful in kind of picturing the sort of situations where you'd hear a track like this in those titles.

This game, while a crossover, is a stand-alone title. If you wanted to play this game, you could leap right on in and you will miss nothing from either series since the game does a decent job of introducing the core cast and the game's mechanics. And remember when I said that there were very few games that I consider to have a completely flawless OST during one of your Bravely Default reaction videos? This was the other one. Every single track here is flawless.

PLvsPW has some of the best soundtracks from both games, personally. Almost everything, from courtroom to the overworld music, are so good! And unsurprising. PL excels in overworld music. London Streets, Halycon Days, A Quiet Afternoon PW has epic songs in the courtroom for dramatic moments. Combined together and you get this game.

This is probably my favorite pursuit theme in the franchise because it’s the only one where you really feel the weight of the situation you’re in. This game takes place in England around the time of the real life witch trials(1200-1600) and it portrays a draconic and ruthless justice system where anyone who’s found guilty of being a witch is burned alive right in front of you. It’s a far darker and more serious game than the rest of the Ace Attorney series, and the pursuit theme portrays this perfectly

its important to understand that a big reason the music in this game is so serious for the court is because the stakes are much much higher at least as far as phoenix and as a result the player know

If you ever react to the title music of this crossover game, either have the stock title animation with it, or let it be while you stream the game yourself! The theme itself is great, in combination with the title screen itself it becomes INCREDIBLE! =D

I'm loving how this theme seems to sort of combine the main themes of the two characters in a way. Maybe it's just my impression. I know the Ending Theme of the game provides a much more evident example of this tho.

Pursuit themes are essentially the battle themes of Ace Attorney really! Their most unique virtue as mystery-solving games is that having to not just find the answer, but PROVE it, means that you have to engage in a lot more of an active fight than other crime/puzzle games, with higher moment-to-moment stakes. Ace Attorney also DOES have several live orchestra performances and studio albums, though I'm not sure if this is included in any- the crossover tends to be left out in the rain a bit, which is a tragedy tbh
