It's a shame that she didn't use Philadelphia as a case study. It's incredibly hard to legally own and carry a weapon in Philadelphia, yet people get shot dead all of the time.
@stepheneickhoff49532 ай бұрын
You are allowed to CC in Philly just like the rest of the state. There are just two problems: 1. Too many Federally-managed sites in Old City where the feds get to infringe your right and 2. Hard to actually BUY one in the city. Your carry permit is "shall issue", even in Philly County, and then buy your gun in the 'burbs. Oh, but no open carry.

Not only will the NRA stand up for your 2nd Amendment rights,but so will other corporations and organizations such as the American Legion and VFW. Look them up. Join if you are eligible and help keep the 2nd Amendment strong forever!

@MrDevinGlbson- I am an Army veteran and member of the American Legion. There are many parts of our constitution that we hold dear, defend, and practice on a daily basis. There are MANY examples we can use where firearms actually saved lives against criminals and evil people. Taking away guns will not prevent murder. There are knives, swords, bow and arrow, etc. that can be used in their place, but imagine a world where a bigger, stronger person weilds such a weapon! A firearm acts as an equalizer to unlawful force and desired harm by evil people and criminals, and in many cases, a deterrent for would-be crimes.

One thing that young lady forgot to mention about why to keep a gun in the home for self protection. People ignorantly say that's the job of the police, which is pretty much never the answer. If someone breaks into my front door, are they going to sit idly by and wait for me to call 911? I doubt it. And if I did get to call 911 when the door is kicked in, how long will it take for the dispatcher to take enough of a report to dispatch an officer? And once dispatched, how long will it take an officer to get to your house? One of my favorite sayings is, "When seconds matter, the police are only minutes away." My biggest gripe with the 2nd Amendment is the wording is a bit feeble. The government can do so many things and claim it is not infringing on our rights. God bless our forefathers and their wisdom, but they really could have expanded on the details in the 2nd Amendment. I guess at the time they could not fathom the ways the government could dance around that one word. The last I checked several years ago the state/city with the strictest gun laws had the highest gun violence rates, and the state/county with the fewest gun attacks/murders was the one with the highest amount of gun toting Americans which was Plano, Texas. At the time 52% of residents in Plano carried a firearm nearly 24/7, including church. If you go into a restaurant or store and start firing, 3 of the 6 people around you are going to drop you where you stand. That idiot that opened fire several years ago in a theatre wearing body armor killed how many people? Someone with a small gun, .22 or 9mm could have saved the day. Body armor or not, fast moving lead is going to rock someone's world and stun them or knock them over and off balance. That's all others would have needed to overwhelm the gunman. Somewhere in the late '70's I saw a TV commercial where a salesman was trying to sell a bullet proof vest so he took the smallest easily available round which was a .22 short from a pistol and allowed someone to shoot him in the stomach at point blank range. Instant regret as the guy immediately doubled over on the ground rolling around in pain for a while. It was a while ago so I don't remember exactly how long, but it was significant enough to leave an impact 45-50 years later. Shooting someone wearing body armor with a 9mm or anything bigger is going to hit like a sledgehammer. Multiple hits is going to likely knock them down. God bless this young lady for being proud and educated about firearms.

I was a cab driver, one of my regular clients, a far left liberal, asked my opinion of gun control. I told him that I think everyone over 16 should have a firearm at all times. Shocked he questioned me as to why so I used his brain against him. A natural thought process is to fill in the blanks so I asked if he was in a city somewhere waiting at a bus stop and there was a group of thugs harassing him and I walked up, would he want to know that I had my gun or wonder if I did. In an instant his eyes got wide. He was shocked and replied that he never thought about it that way.

Kudo's to him that I cannot tell what his position is, which is what is called GREAT teaching! Devin, on your points...killing is not a sin, murder is. If you kill someone on accident, say someone runs out in front of you and hit them with your car, or you take someone out in self-defense or in defense of another innocent, that is not sin. Intent is the difference.

I'm so tired of the argument "well don't you think if people were just not allowed to have guns that gun violence would be non-existent?" No, because the illegal arms trade is huge. Criminals might be prevented from purchasing firearms legally but they have other ways to procure firearms and those ways are actually preferred because the firearms are untraceable that way. Laws only effect law abiding citizens.
