Soft nail brush will help clean the screen with that solution Danny, great growth rates, you're odviously doing something right mate.

Good idea on the brush. I'll have to pinch one off the Mrs.. So happy with the growth this year, so much better than I've had the last few years

That's a nice pair of fish, with really good growth. Stay safe 👍

Thanks. I've been so pleased with the growth this year. Time to think about winter soon though now
@CBersPond3 жыл бұрын
@@dannycurrie1 As you're heated now, what temps are you going to keep them at? What food will you be feeding?
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
@@CBersPond I'm still at 20 at the moment but I'm going to drop them a degree a week starting this weekend. Hopefully keep them at 15/16 until Christmas if it's not too cold then probably at 12 for the rest of the winter. I'm moving them over to wheatgerm now (floating and sinking) will keep them on wheatgerm until after they spawn next spring
@CBersPond3 жыл бұрын
@@dannycurrie1 Is that your Coppens Wheatgerm (OSW) ? Just trying to figure out what to feed mine over winter - will probably keep them at 15C-17C.

Might try that cleaner when my drum needs it as it seems pretty good actually. Fish look great btw 👍🏻

Good stuff that drum cleaner I give mine a scrub with a paint brush to just to agitate it when spraying on
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
I'm well impressed with it. Bait brush is a good idea, or possibly an old toothbrush could work well 🤔

very nice Asagi got to say one of my favorites great growth just shows what water temperature and quality can do
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I was amazed how much it had grown. Heating the pond this year has made a massive difference. Dropping it down for winter now but I'll definitely be heating every summer from now on

Wow, that's a ton of growth. Don't know if it's just me, but your water clarity seems to get better every video I watch, even with food tinge, it seems to have little in the way of fines etc?
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy. Yeah the water is quality seems to be improving as time go's on. Drum filter is working great now. I'm turning the pond over through the filters more than twice an hour at the moment. I think once I'm fully on to wheatgerm it will los that slight tinge

Coppens top koi discolours my water as well.
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
I wasn't feeding top koi. Been using a different grower that's used by several koi farms. Still coppens. Top koi is a good food though, I shall probably use it in the summer next year I think
@RS20O03 жыл бұрын
@@dannycurrie1 Ah right, I thought you were feeding Grower, ingredients of which are also part of the Top Koi formula. They grow very well on Top Koi and Grower, especially younger koi that can utilise the high protein better, the water staining does get annoying though.
@dannycurrie13 жыл бұрын
@@RS20O0 yeah it's similar but not the same, obviously has the same ingredients that stain the water. Not going to keep anywhere near as much growth food next year. I'll probably feed just wheatgerm apart from maby a month or so if I've got the water at 23+. Will have no tosai next year so like you say, they don't need the protein so much
