Hi there, I live in Sydney Australia, I love all of your videos, very informative. Thanks for the tip on feeding koi pearl barley, my koi love it. I have adopted the way you prepared it, great tip. Regards Mark.

Hey Adam ... So would you recommend this drum over the other OASE you have? These are expensive drums... I was looking at the Draco but some people have told me to save my money and get a Profidrum. I appreciate the information

Cheers buddy for showing drum set up this is next system for me on my re furb mines only going t be 12000 ltrs but want low maintenance over the years too come and I believe this is spot on no bead for me cheers
@AdamJulyan9 жыл бұрын
skyhopper007 it definatly is the way to go. having used this one i would never build another pond without using a drum as filtration. and the beads are not necessary but you definatly need a biological filter like a bakki shower or bakki river like i have.

Hi Adam, just after your thoughts on an idea i have for my pond, i want to get one of these profi drums for mine as my koi are 15 years old now the poops are no joke anymore, i want to feed both my bottom drains and skimmer into it, from there it will be going to two nexus 300's and back to the pond, seeing the sieve will remove everything the easy's will in the nexus's i was thinking of removing the k1 from the easy units, wrapping them in some pond liner so that water has to enter from the bottom rising up through it and filling the easy's with sera siporax, good or bad idea?, thanks.

WOW! Very nice indoor koi pond. Did you build the pond yourself?

Hi Adam great video quick question how are the drum filters plumbed in? Isit bottom drains>drum filter>return pump>and back into pond ? Sorry haven't fitted a drum filter before
@AdamJulyan6 жыл бұрын
Hi, Yes that is how they are plumbed but you can also configure them to run pump fed as well if you have no other option. Adam

What size profidrum would u reccomend for a 4000gal pond with a bakki shower or would u go with a drofidrum bio and forget the bakki shower thanks lee
@AdamJulyan8 жыл бұрын
Profidrum eco 55 and single width bakki shower with 4 tier and 5 boxes of Bakki house media on 13,000litre pump. that would be spot on i would still recommend the bakki shower with a profidrum bio as in my opinion k1 is worthless it has its advantages but overall a bakki shower or river would do a much better job.

+Adam Julyan (aljonline) thanks mate another quick one how come u don't use the bio uv sterilizers what I've seen in absolute koi over the evos is there much difference as there is a big prise difference thanks again for your advise much appreciated .lee
@AdamJulyan8 жыл бұрын
I do use an amalgam submersible 40w UV inside the quarantine tank drum that is very good it does seam a lot more powerful than the EVO UV's however i don't really need the extra power as the tanks are indoors although if i was doing it now i would get amalgam UV's in the main ponds drum rather than the EVO UV'S but there is a substantial difference in the cost of the 2 units although the amalgam bulb should not need changing as often as the EVO version. also having the amalgam inside your drum keeps the mesh very clear so there is an extra advantage.

Hey just out of curiosity why do you have a load of fish in your quarantine tank?
@AdamJulyan9 жыл бұрын
ethan1997may i was hoping i would have reduced their numbers by now (by putting them in my other ponds) but they are just so healthy and happy also i have been having issues with my other pond due to changing filters and working on the pond so they have just stayed in there they will be going into main pond in a few weeks. i got them 2 month ago and they where only 2-3 inch the tank looked empty.
@ethan1997may9 жыл бұрын
Oh right I see so do you have another pond then? Could you make a video on them some time if possible?

How much did the total filtration cost you?
@AdamJulyan6 жыл бұрын
Hey Pete Hope to see you back on facebook soon. This is a bit of an old video my QT tank now also has a drum filter and i don't have the bead filters anymore they where worse than useless after the drum filter and my river has 200Litre of Siporax now so the main ponds filtration probably cost about £4.5k In total and its a 9000gal pond currently has about 200 fish in it so its quite overstocked but doing pretty well i would prefer fewer fish to be honest. But i have 3 ponds all with drum filters so in total i have probably spent about £12k on filtration for all my ponds. Like i said the other week on facebook I'm Building another 20,000L pond if you would lend me an EPIC ill put that on instead of a drum and see how it goes make a great youtube series and be a good advert for the filter :) I could also then remove the filter a put a drum on and a shower and see if the drum has any benefits or maybe try a drum before the EPIC see what happens. Let me know i wont be finishing the pond built until about spring time though. Regards Adam Julyan
@waddypete6 жыл бұрын
Hi @@AdamJulyan I asked the price question because price is of importance to many Koi enthusiasts. Thanks for advising that your present system cost £4,500.00 on a 9,000 gallon indoor pond. My present system costs £1,185.00 and it's running a 17,500 gallon outdoor pond. Regarding your request to trial an Epic filter, please remind me again next spring. By the way, if you do get to trial the Epic, it must be trialed as a true stand-alone filter - because that's what it is stated to be.

+Kevin Eastment Good size pond approximately 6000gal personally I would puta profidrum on it with a 80w amalgam UV in the drum or 110w external dependingon the amount of sunlight 40w and 55w could be enough. I would get aperformance pro pump 18,000 because I love those pumps so efficient andreliable. Then I would have that 18,000 running over a bakki shower into the pond. I might be tempted to get a small superfish eco plus E 5000 to pump from the drum straight to the pond to create circulation in the pond and keep a high flow rate through the drains because I would use two drains and a skimmer. That’s all I can think of at the moment although I would not recommend going deeper than 7ft because the depth causes issues and I get them sometimes with a 7ft deep pond and I would not go that deep again no deeper than 6ft would be my limit If I ever build another pond. If you do go 8ft deep don’t use aerated bottom drains put air curtain at about 3-4ft. The cost could be around £5,500 excluding the pipework and the pond build. Adam

+Adam Julyan (aljonline) thank you for getting back to me great advice if u don't mind me asking if I go with a indoor pond what sort of price on the building. I went up to absolute kio on Sunday fantastic. keep up the great video all the best kevin

+Kevin Eastment Its hard to guess but this building is a house with a pond in it and it cost the same as a one bedroom bungilow would have done plus the cost of a pond if you wanted the exact same setup i have you wont get much change from £100k Adam

+Adam Julyan (aljonline) wow what a price ok think I will have to go with an out side pond will keep u up to date on my progress. thanks.
