This series laid the foundation for media coverage of the later Iraq war. Profiles crews were the first in recent times embedded with U.S. forces in combat. They also were embedded with U.S. Special Forces in Afghanistan and at other fronts of the war on terrorism.
Richard Mackenzie led the production in Afghanistan, working with Special Operations and with infantry units.

These special forces guys are amazing people and nothing like the way you would imagine them, similar to our SAS guys in the sense that if you meet them in their civs you wouldn't guess they were elite soldiers, they are smart and incredibly brave, admirable indeed.

@richardmackenzie remember me? A few years back I had reached out to you asking if by any chance you had these. I’m so glad they made their way to a place the public could see them. It was great sharing these moments that time with you. All the best to you!...

Damn I haven't seen this in forever. I wish the series continued as it was supposed to but the Iraq invasion diverted the attention of viewers. I was the camera guy at the end of this episode. I can't believe I was about 140lbs back then. crazy.

Crazy how if you ran across some of these special forces guys on the streets in America you would never know that they were special forces operators like mark I mean the dude would just look like a long haired hippie but in reality is a pretty bad ass dude if you have seen previous episodes its pretty impressive how mark can keep calm in some potential uncomfortable places like he and his team of 3 rolled up to a compound there were 15+ plus afghan males their with rocket launcher and machine guns mark acted like it was completely safe then about 15 minutes later 1 of his team guys found a huge weapons cache in a room next to where mark was and still mark didn't get upset or yell at the afghans for lying to him he simply just called in people to get rid of the weapons and left never once yelled or apprehended anyone.

dublinirishkelt yea if I rolled up on a house with two of my other buddies and saw 20+ military fighting males with RPGS machine guns and had a huge hidden cash of unstable explosives right next to where I had just eaten I would of lost my shit on the people who lied. Also some of these guys probably went on more tours of duty based out of chapman because they were in the shit at a very early stage they got great results and managed to find away to properly conduct themselves around locals they didn't go in guns blazing all the time but if they needed they were more then capable to do it and I just have gut feeling that some of these guys were CIA and we're a pretty elite team but tried not portray that on film but to be in that small of a group rolling around Afghanistan knowing if they got stuck in some bad situations they were more then likely going to have to fight their way out before a QRF could be launched because Afghanistan was extremely extremely unstable during their time of duty

@RichardMacKenzie; 2019 March -> Thank you for posting all of these videos. Most of us here in The Netherlands never heard much about the bravery and sacrifices of the coalition troops. Now I have watched 15+ videos of different coalition partners in Afghanistan and I bow my head in deep admiration and respect. Lets We Forget.

Why the hell is the sound only on the right side?? All the others I've watched in the playlist so far have no problem and play stereo properly. I even tried takin' this out of the playlist incase there was a problem caused by it some how(which is why this comment doesn't show that it was made in the playlist) but it still only comes out of the right side. -sigh- :(

Ya? If you test the stereo aspect of what you're hearing, does it in-fact have both left and right channels? I mean, if it's set to play whatever it gets in both ears as mono, then that'd explain it. Just played again to rule out the possibility of it being a weird glitch that day but I still get only the right side. I've tested and re-tested my system with many a piece of music and video = no issue with it. It's just that I'm only getting the right channel on this vid. (Firefox 19.0.2, you?)

It's funny you can totally tell the difference between 19th group being the national guard unit and 3rd group being active duty. 3rd group actually know how to interact with the civilians 19th group acts like a bunch of cops.
@zacht364
@zacht364 9 жыл бұрын
I bet there were other operators alongside the 19th group because they were based out of chapman which is a base where a lot of special forces units are based like SEALs and DELTA and CIA SAD operators so the stuff they were coming across was pretty significant and there had to be others involved alongside them but we're just not filmed at all and stayed out of the spotlight of the show. and in December 30 2009 a suicide attack by Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi seven CIA personnel were killed including one of the leading experts on the Taliban Jennifer Lynn Matthews and was chief of base at chapman which means she was in charge of significant operations carried out by special forces units and CIA.

Stephen Hamblen yes you are right reserves don't train everyday. However if they are placed on active duty status for a pending deployment they do then train everyday until deployed. Also every weekend of a month reservists have guard drill which is where they perform their military duty or duties and may go through training courses or instruct them which these courses can last a wide range of days. I have a family member who was a reservists for about 5-10 years of his 23 years of service. They first went to boot camp then was placed on active duty with a medevac unit then had a kid with serious medical complications a short time after that he transferred from active duty and medevac to safety so one he could have time to help take care of his kid who was sick and his others and also gave him the ability to have double insurance one from the military and the other from his civilian job which helped with medical bills and what the insurance couldn't pay he could pay with his civilian job money the best he could. After their sick child was out of the woods and a lucrative high position Job opened up with the military and when other military brass personally asked him to take it they did which put them back on as active duty and gave them a good paying job and and a steady one also. I also apologize for being so vague on the person I'm talking about but due to their job I can not say who they are or branch of military they belong to for safety concerns now I'm not saying this to sound badass or cool I was just instructed personally along with others to not post anything on social public sights regarding their job .
