All the old monogrammed things are so cool! I think it would be so great to live in a time when people had such beautiful desk sets, covers for their match boxes, opera glasses and chatelaines. Those triangle things were to put at the corners of a desk blotter. When using fountain pens, you need to blot the ink!!! The blotter also protects the wood of your desk when you are writing and helps the pen move smoothly over the paper. Often the blotter would be mounted on a leather “frame” and the brass corners go over those corners too!

The 4 brass triangle shapes go on the corners of a desk blotter. The bullet piece is probably a letter opener. When my uncle was stationed in the Philippines during World War II, he brought this sort of letter opener back home to my mother.

Some thoughts about the fork and knife sets. In the old days, couples went on elegant picnics. One thought is that these were intended that. The other thought is if two gentlemen went hunting or simply out riding, these would be easy to take along if they stopped for a meal.

I participated in a local radio station yard sale in my city, about 15 yrs ago….It is an annual event….I brought all kinds of stuff….I had a beautiful Fenton Blue Coin Spot footed rose bowl….I priced it at $30.00 This one woman kept stopping by and asking if I would sell it for $10. Then $15. And I turned her down…she started complaining very loudly that I would never get $30. For it. Then she stormed off.. She returned 30 mins later and said in a angry voice….Okay!!!..$30. Dollars!!!😡😡😡 I picked up my rose bowl off the table and looked her straight in the eye, and I said…It’s not for sale to you.👊👊👊👊 Her mouth feel to her knees, then she stormed off into oblivion….🤣🤣🤣🤣👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽 I still own that rose bowl to this day.🤣🤣🤣🤣
