Great explanation: I’ve adjusted the pomp-pressure. I was fiddling with the OVP (older model) and that obviously didn’t work well. Now it does. Thanks!

Hi P, yes it's the rotary pump bypass screw which adjusts and controls brew pressure on machines with rotary pump. The OPV acts as a safety valve for the boiler.

Good to see this machine from the inside. I have the same machine, changed from waterline to the reservoir. But now my pressure starts building up with delay. Sometimes 3 sec, sometimes no pressure but only de pump after pulling the lever. Strange...
@Wholelattelovepage5 ай бұрын
Hi J, happy to provide you with an inside look! Not sure I fully understand your comment on brewing pressure. I will mention that when plumbed to waterline pressure from the waterline is always within the machine so might lead to a slightly faster build of pressure than when using reservoir. You will see your line pressure registered on the machine's pressure gauge even when the machine/pump are off. If seeing slow or no pressure when running from reservoir first thing I would check is the water source selector valve underneath the rear of the machine is fully in the correct position. If that's not cause there may be a restriction in the feed from the reservoir to the pump.
@JobdeBarista5 ай бұрын
@@Wholelattelovepage thanks! The machine is not plumbed to te waterline. The reservoir is filled, and the source selector is put on reservoir. It seems like the pump doesn't pull water out of the reservoir while the pump is on. Maybe the pump head is damaged, of air inside? Let's go to a mechanic I guess..

Hello Dear, I have a coffee machine Cuadra era la nuova.. I know how to adjust the temperature to 1.1 but I don't know how to adjust the brew pressure.. please have you any idea ?

Hi Hb, not familiar with that machine, but brew pressure is usually adjusted using an OPV - over pressure valve. That's assuming the machine is equipped with one.

So just to make clear, the group head gauge that comes with the flow control will read higher than the stock guage for the brew boiler. If you have flow control installed, and you want 9 bar, should you be setting 9 bar on the brew boiler gauge or group head gauge? Thanks!
@Wholelattelovepage3 жыл бұрын
Hi Shadow, I would set pressures using the gauge on the machine's face and set that to 9 bar.

When I run the water into a cup to flush the head after I pour a shot I noticed that it's not always 4 streams of water coming out of the head and sometimes it's 2. So I was questioning if my pump is working properly sometimes the coffee doesn't come out consistent from shot to shot. Even though I've set the grinder to the same grind and the coffee is from the same bag in the same hopper. What is the benefit of raising my Brew pressure and will it hurt my machine. I thought about buying a machine like this I would get the same coffee or as close as possible to one in Nespresso shop back home in New Jersey where you can taste the oils in the back of your throat what can I do to help please
@Wholelattelovepage2 жыл бұрын
Hi mm, So you should be able to get a far better espresso from this machine than from a Nespresso capsule! There's no clear benefit to raising your brew pressure beyond 9-10 bar as measured on the machine's gauge with a backflush disk installed in your portafilter. Raising pressure will not hurt your machine should you do so. While having even flow from your shower screen onto the coffee is desirable I doubt going from 4 to 2 streams makes much of a difference if any at all. That, so long as you do not have too much coffee in your filter basket. Inconsistency from shot to shot is usually the result of technique issues like different coffee dose weights, distribution/tamping issues. Part of it could be the coffee you are using. Very different flavors between coffee origins, roast level, blends, freshness, etc.

@@Wholelattelovepage thank you Brian. I was also concerned when I did not have any basket and I put a couple low I would get for streams of water and then I would only get two streams of water coming out of the shower head I was thinking that there was a pump problem

Thank you for your kind information in this video. May I ask for some advice. I am using ECM MECHANIKA. The pressure gauge (POMPA?) is not moving. It's a pressure gauge, but I'm not sure what is the exact problem. Can it be solved by replacing it to a new one, Or can there be a different reason that the gauge isn't moving? I'm thinking of replacing it. I'm not sure but I think the pressure is kind of low when I'm using it Thank you for reading. ^^

In order to see the pressure at the pompa gauge, the coffee boiler handle must be in the up position so that water is coming out of the brew head.

Nice video! The brewpressure on my Profitec Pro 700 goes all the way up to 16 bar when I use the blindfilter (and when brewing espresso), and I cannot seem to adjust it by going counter-clockwise as you suggest. What could be wrong with my machine? Thanx!
@JH-en6ql2 жыл бұрын
For my machine, fully rotated clockwise provides just over 12, but I have an older model. To lower to 9, I had to make several full counterclockwise rotations. Did you try continuing to rotate counterclockwise until the screw was somewhat loose? Still 16 pressure while handle is on? If so, I would call them and they will walk you through the process of determining the issue.

I have a Brasilia Gabriella Mini Classic, wheres is the pression valve? The machine is in the 13 bars ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
@Wholelattelovepage Жыл бұрын
Hi AB, Unfortunately I do not have that machine on hand to reference and cannot find a schematic. If your machine has a rotary pump that looks like the one in this video then adjustment will be similar. If it uses a vibration pump then brew pressure is typically adjusted on the OVP - over pressure valve. You may have to open the housing to access the OVP adjustment. Here's a link to video showing an what an OPV might look like: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYnVdpR4irWVopY

As I understand from this video brewing is happening on higher pressure then pomp gauge is displaying. Why then do we need this value? Just to monitor pomp malfunction? Will the difference between brewing pressure and pomp one be a constant value? I assume if boiler maintains the same volume of water and performs on constant temperature so it should not vary much. But it may confuse people thinking they do extraction on 9 bar. Is there any restriction of connecting gauge directly to the boiler? Thanks for cool videos, guys.
@Wholelattelovepage3 жыл бұрын
Hi MM, Thanks for the comment and question. The pressure is slightly higher in the boiler and group as cold water is entering a closed system after passing a one way (no return) valve and cannot leave the system due to the backflush disc in the portafilter. Pressure increases slightly because the cooler water introduced to the hot boiler expands a bit. When actually brewing the difference in pressure is negligible. One could retrofit a pressure gauge to the boiler or mount one on the group itself.

They didn't verbally explain two things. First, you need to rotate clockwise to increase the pompa pressure and counterclockwise to decrease the pompa pressure. Second, in order to see the pressure at the pompa gauge, the coffee boiler handle must be in the up position so that water is coming out of the brew head. They showed these two things, if you watch carefully, but they didn't provide a verbal explanation, so for those who are too impatient to sit through the entire video (like I was the first time), you might be left with these two questions.

I have the exact same machine as in the video with the newer gauges, but when I start the pump my pressure gauge will flicker, it will be around 9bar, but the nieedle is shaky. In this video it is totally still.. What is wrong with my machine haha?
@Wholelattelovepage2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sebastian, Flickering likely caused by the PID sending short pulses of energy to the boiler and slowing the pump very slightly with the energy demand from heating element. Don't think there is anything wrong with the machine. It's common especially if there are other power demands on the same circuit the machine is on. Marc
