Profiting off the Changes to Corruption and Crafted Gear

I've been flipping Dredged Leather on my server for a couple of months now. Usually buying it from 1.50g - 3.25g/ea. TSM tells me that the max I've been reselling it is at 7.60g/ea. My average sell rate is at 4.90g/ea. They are currently listed on my AH for 8g/ea. That's about a 4x profit and I have ~30,000 remaining Dredged Leather. This is the only material I was stock piling though. I wouldn't recommend doing it on more than one raw material as it does take up a lot of space in your guild bank. Dredged just seemed like the hardest to gather and was the cheapest on my server. Old world leather typically sells very well too so even if I have this stock pile going into Shadowlands I can continue selling at a profit.

@@user-ux3jp9oo7r To me it was worth the investment even without this change. I don't think it will be just raiders that would want some high ilvl gear with or without corruption. For example, my main is a skinner, and the better gear I have, the more I can gather hides from the current world content. I don't do any raiding.

Yesterday I bought ~1300 Dredged Leather for 2g/ea. I sold 5k today at 8g/ea and now the minbuyout is 10g/ea on my server. =X

Bliz made a post about working on a hotfix to allow you to put corruption on gear that has been cleansed. Not being able to add corruption to a cleansed piece isn't intended but they didn't want to sit on the update since they aren't sure if they'll ever figure out the issue. I'd imagine that would affect the mats price over the next few weeks since raiders wouldn't have to craft new gear if MOTHER happens upon your BiS corruption.

I think prices will for sure go up, but not a huge amount. 470 gear is 5 to 15 item levels below the highest end gear from Mythic Ny'alotha, and you can also add sockets to anything that can accept a socket.

Interesting. Let's run the numbers with all the crafting professions. Tailoring (8.5 TS+3.5 Thread): 6700g LW (4.5 shimmer + 2.5 BSB): 7900g BS (8.5 monelite) 30k g JC: (8.5 monelite + gem) 30k+ g Unless you've got super cheap ore or bones on your server, tailoring still wins. As a guidemaker, I quote regional prices to be consistent and inclusive. But you're right that LW is a good option too if that's all you have. Actually, it's what I used up until 8.2.

How many guilds that are in that "cutting edge" mythic category are still doing progress this far out from release? I feel like there will likely be a lot fewer people doing this that you might think. The number of remakes will be relatively lower (1-5) considering there is likely no pressure to finishing in any time frame (other than by the end of the expansion). I don't think this will change as much as this video hints at, but it will for sure have an inflationary effect.

It's really hard to quantify. There are only ~100,000 characters who have killed M Wrathion, and 1/100th of those have cleared the raid. So rounding up, "no one" has cleared the raid, lol. But you're absolutely right in that you should make up your mind and stay within your own comfort level when flipping

There are a lot of guild still progging mythic, but usually if they are not done yet it mean that they have less prep ==> not really the type of raider that will spend thousands to recraft item (of course there are exceptions, and only 2-3 of them might be enough to shift the market)

The crafted gear is a little lower ilvl than mythic raid stuff and you can add a socket to any piece if you want and in some cases, the raid has the exact stats you might want. But, you know, if this makes my old dredged leather farm profitable enough to do again, I'm in. :P

Side related question. I'm not playing at the moment but I've been considering doing so a bit before Shadowlands using old farmed up gold to buy a token. Do you think this type of goldsink will have a noticeable impact on the price of them or will people not buy more tokens to fuel their crafted corrupted items enough to make a significant shift in price? Or is it better to wait more for the pre-patch when people flood back in and buy up everything they can so they can "be ready for SL" instead?

First, thanks for the tip, I just bought like 50k coarse leather (don't worry, even if it doesn't sell i have a use for it). Second, Uncanny gear is ABSOLUTELY worth crafting. That is like half of my income right now. I regularly craft enchants, gems, pots, flasks, and glyphs, and still crafted gear does as well as all of those. Yes, world quest gear is better, but only if you already have a high enough item level. The gear that drops scales based on your current gear. I make myself crafted gear every time i level an alt, just to jumpstart them into end game content a bit sooner. Remember, this crafted gear replaces the process of having to do either tons of world quests to slowly increase your item level, or having to run a bunch of instanced content for the gear drops. Also, the gear tokens from naz'jatar and the 8.3 assaults are only available if you have a character that has done that content enough to generate enough tokens.

I had a question about the AH actually. I know that it's last in first out, but how does that affect a range of prices? Like if there is lower priced items on the AH will I be able to buy those even if the last person in put the item on with a higher price tag? For example I did the opposite the other day, I tried to buy an herb that was priced 2 silver more then the farmer 3494538583 herbs that were in there but the AH would not let me actually purchase the higher priced herb. I just want to be sure it's because there were herbs on there with a lower price tag and not because the lower priced herbs were last in.

I was watching the prices on my server and on average the ore had been selling for about 28g.. 2 days later after this video the ore is down to 19g and dropping FAST. Naw, you can start now. Probably easier to build into it too. Watch my TSM groups, operations, and intro vid, get that setup, and then just restock everything profitable once a week while reposting daily. I'd recommend farming all the mats for it initially so you can make an informed decision of what''s worth it to buy of the AH later.

No cloudlifter. Mic is -60db and my audio interface is an onyx blackjack that only boosts 40. I just go in with adobe audition during the editing and noise removal-small compression-match loudness to BS.1770. I get extra background noise, especially in clips like this where there's a mix of game sounds but it's "fine."

Most raiders are done on progression. If you want to focus on a market for corruptions, I would suggest you look at Mythic+ and PVP needs.

It will (and has...) gone up. So yea, good call. But you don't need to re-craft when new corruptions are available. Even people who do bother to make it now, and who has enough echoes stored up that they can keep buying temporary corruptions won't need to re-make items, cause they can just remove the old corruption effects. Good call on the mat price going up initially. Strong doubt that we will see the weekly spike you're on about at the end.

So i normally dont know enough to challenge the concept of your video and I no hate when I say this . However this time as someone who does prog raiding, you are incorrect on how many people will now be doing this. You may see a small spike with people who have been unlucky in Mythic+, returning players looking to get back into raiding, or are still progressing but the people who WOULD reroll this 100 times have already done it for early progression. Those pieces of gear cost to craft 2 of them the same as even paying for a mythic 15 carry. The biggest problem is the 5 ilvls when you have easier to obtain pieces with the same stats at this point. Glad to see you pumping out the videos again though man.

For the first two levels of crafted gear (I haven't gotten to the third rank on any of my toons yet), but when you scrap rank 1 and 2, you get 100% of your expulsum back. It might be a good idea to buy a stock of Tidespray Linen because prices will likely go up, but not to extent he said.

You would be amazed at how few people push hard content compared to the population at large. 90% of characters aren't max level. 95% haven't ever been in a M+. 99% Haven't touched the raid, and 99.8% haven't touched mythic. If you're optimizing for mythic raiding, there are 499 filthy gross noobs that aren't. :P

Keep in mind, when the buyer crafts one of these 470 pieces and it's not the piece he/she is looking for, the buyer can simply scrap the piece for a partial refund of mats. This will skew these spreadsheets numbers a bit.

Holy cow, you raid with 16 different guilds a week? What are your favorite/least favorite boards of the Nyalotha? And up to you. All spec have a 5%-20% range for their output based on secondary stat distribution. Half of the variations roll with the stat you want. That's what I'd do. Roll until I get haste.

Correct. I mentioned in passing that this is without recrafting, mainy because I don't know the return rate for these items. For the 225 uncommon bracers, you get back 15-30% of the materials depending on the armor type, but I don't know if it's more or less for the 470s and haven't heard any hard numbers. When I saw the new update for this week, I didn't use my wow token to extend my subscription. I have 7 characters and I have been giving them about the same amount of time and attention and with this new grind system I just can't enjoy playing on all my chars as before. This new grind is BEYOND INSANE. I can't play this game anymore unless I just play on 1-2 characters.
