according to a video series on mysterious internet songs, this was recorded at Dartington college. although i dont go there/falmouth (instead moved up to Warwick), I have helped friends record songs there. i cant remember if they had any archived system digital (or not), but next time I go back, I will certainly look/ask around

Update because of COVID i have had no physical access to the archives but have attempted. Its a bit complicated as they are potentially in 3 different ones if an archived copy exists. As of covid and digital limitation they don't exist in the Falmouth/Exeter/Dartington archives. However the archives are not fully digitized. Also a breif look by an archivist couldnt find them. Once covid is over i will attempt to look in person, however i also have another lead to look in to.

Listening back to Starlet, this may be one of the loveliest songs I've heard. Her voice with the lonesome piano and violin lines is absolutely beautiful.

This is really beautiful... The skipping noise actually kind of adds to it, it doesn't really sound that harsh, gives it a kind of Kompakt feel :) Still would be nice to hear the unblemished version, you reckon its one of those white whale artefacts?

Yeah the damage makes it sound eerie and mysterious. I couldn't even rip the tracks directly, I had to record it from my stereo system. It's definitely something I'll continue to search for.

I was a student at Dartington, but the band were not. My friend Joe was the bassist, and his friend Alex was the main songwriter. They came down to Dartington for the weekend to record this because, well it was basically free studio time for them, and good practise for me as I was just getting to learn Protools and recording techniques. It's blowing my mind that this album is still knocking around on the internet.
