I agree with you. I struggled with this album too. I actually don’t mind the Jack Kerouac verbose lyric style of “Warm Wet Circles” and it might be because the music is so good. I liked Fish’s first three solo records (“Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors” being by far the best in my opinion) and I very much enjoyed 1999’s “Raingods With Zippos” with its strong title track suite and the return of Mickey Simmons. After that ... I’ve kept buying his records mainly out of loyalty but I really struggle to be moved or even connect with his music these days. I wish I could.

I have been a life long fan of the big man and Marillion. I agree with a lot of what you say. Looking forward sadly to his very last record next year... It’s going to be a big double album

That’s sad he needs to chill I can’t understand people I review for a metal page and you know I want to give genuine honest info.. but I fear for the fact they can not take good old fashioned criticism

Don't you think sunsets on empire and Raingods with Zippos are decent album some good stuff on there I thought.

I agree some of his albums not so good same with marilion your right have made some rubbish mainly there late 90s ones.

Yep, all albums max of 40 mins by law. That's what an album is - anything else is (today esp) a commercial approximation. It just destroys the cohesiveness - 'in the olden days' they left the less good stuff off for a reason (except for Twilight Alehouse for Harold the Barrel which was a stupid mistake) Except for Lamb Lies Down ... ,Tales from Topographic and live LP's of course. Please review Weltschmerz - I'm really looking forward to your review let alone the album - his best work, a double album!
