Your videos are awesome. One thing I would caution on is that all the features on the drawing are referenced from one corner while the slot is supposed to be centralized about the 1.880 width. Plan accordingly, especially in the setup (coordinates) and the actual dimensions of the part.

I've seen some folks that clean up the floor, then on the wall finish they leave .0005 axial so they don't end up with the cutter leaving a trace mark on the floor....seems like a pretty good technique.

Great video. Perfect pace. I have 3 questions. Will the approach taken here achieve a 32 finish? That is called out on the print. Also, do you utilize G-Wizard cam software (or some other CAM software) at all to determine speeds and speeds or do you just use what Fusion 360 gives you. Have you heard of any feedback on G-Wizard? It supposedly takes tool deflection into consideration and tackles tool chatter apparently

I don't use G-Wizard. I think it has its purpose, but I usually default to the tool vendors recommendations as a starting point. Usually picking the middle range of any SFM numbers they provide to start.

Thanks Kevin for another clear and concise video. At 11:05 you select the chains one by one for each of the 4 segments. Could you have selected two features on one side together, or perhaps even all 4?
@ewildgoose Жыл бұрын
In general no. Each contour needs to be continuous. If you selected say both contours on one side then it might work ok, because it will join them together with a shortest path between each segment. Basically each contour is a single tool path op.

Question. Would the 90 degree spot drill cause the small drill to walk because the drill angle is different from the angle of the hole?
@MechanicalAdvantage Жыл бұрын
That is a good point (no pun intended). Here is a useful article on the subject from Harvey. www.harveyperformance.com/in-the-loupe/choosing-spot-drill/

I would have 100% drilled and chamfered the tap holes on the very 1st setup, then tap them on this setup.
