Programming Your GE Universal Remote Control to ANY Device!

I had to say Thank you SOOOO MUCH for your help!! I am a senior in the Chicago area, and I accidentally de-programed my GE remote to my Sansui tv, and couldn't locate my code list. Due to a lot of unrest over the George Floyd killing, I could not go out to buy another remote. The info you provided for getting the codes was a real life saver. I appreciate your directions. The TV can now turn off/on, but I am having difficulties with trying to get my remote to +/- the volume. Do you have any advice regarding this?

Try using a different code if there's on available. If that doesn't work, you can try the auto code search. Also, make sure the volume lock isn't activated and locked to a sound bar for example. If you've never programmed it to a sound bar, it probably isn't that. I forgot how to unlock the volume lock on that particular remote, if you look in the description, there might be a link there to the program instructions. IF not, then just google this GE remote programming instructions and there it should show you how to unlock it. But that might not even be the culprit.

HI, I don't have a TV like that to try it on. If there's no code listed on the list all you can do is try the auto code search method and see if it'll hit on something that'll work.

Thank you this video was very helpful. However, after pairing the universal remote to my vizio TV, it only controls the volume and turns it on and off. How do I make it work for changing the channels as well? Nothing happens when I try to change the channel. When I try all the other codes it doesn't respond and in fact stops working all together. I am surely doing something wrong. Do you have any feedback? I am stumped

It should certainly work with a vizio tv. One thing is, try to make sure the batteries are fresh. Sometimes a battery can make it look like it's supposed to work, but then it doesn't. Also, make sure you have TV selected on the device buttons at the top. I have a vizio, and it works it perfectly..

Well it appears that I can't get this GE remote universal to get the channels to work to go up and down the TV for the Sony 32-in KDL / m4000 will shut on and off and volume will work however none of the channels will work on the remote as well on the TV itself. Very dissatisfied... JP brougham in Florida 😎

@@jeffreypatrick547 Sometimes a code will only partially work. Did you try all the available codes to your device? What input mode is your TV in? If it's in HDMI 1 for example, the channel buttons are not going to work. It needs to be in either Cable mode or Air mode? I can't see what you've got going over there, so I can't be sure what's wrong.

Thanks for your quick response. Most codes are for TVs etc, not for Hi-fi. some codes work but only power and volume, not other functions. If I can get the Tunning , thats enough. The model is Kenwood RX-29. Appreciate your support.

HI, The codes are usually in a pamphlet that comes with the remote. If you've lost yours, I usually leave a link in the description for the codes, or it's easy to google codes for this GE remote. If you've tried all the codes and none of them will work, then you can try the auto code search method to see if that helps any.

That might use a bluetooth remote. If so, then this isn't compatible, but if there's a IR sensor, and You've run thru the auto code search and still nothing, then this remote isn't compatible. I've read the reviews online for that device, and there's a lot of complaints about the factory remote not working half the time... no mention of trying to use it with a universal remote... hopefully this helps.. thanks.

Usually it's "input" on the remote. IF that doesn't work, u might need to try a different code... sometimes a code will partially work

HI, that remote looks close to this one and it should program much in the same way. What are you trying to program it to? 5 feet away should be fine.. 15 feet away should be fine.. Not sure what the aux button is for?

try auto code search. Use the auto code search with no video signal so that you aren't blowing the speakers out while your searching for the code.

Usually you can control the aspect ratio from the menu. I do believe this remote should be able to access the menu, so you'll have to look for it in there... Each TV is different, so I can't say exactly where it's going to be.

I don't have a Sanyo TV to test the menu, but here's something I found online... if this doesn't work, try googling your model number and see if you can find the manual.. You can adjust the picture on your Sanyo TV to make it suit your needs. Press "Menu" on the remote that came with the Sanyo TV or on the TV itself. Highlight "Picture" using the arrow keys on the remote and then press "Enter" to bring up a list of the five picture modes on your TV.

I bought this remote because the package stated it was for Media Streaming like For Roku, AppleTV and more.....after buying remote I read the fine print underneath that said not compatible with Roku stick. I am disappointed with this remote’s misleading claims.

Hi, It's actually not misleading. The Roku box that sits on a surface can use IR for its remote control, and this remote will run that. The Roku Stick goes behind the TV and uses a bluetooth or RF remote to control it. Since this remote can only do IR that's the reason it doesn't work. I'm not sure why ROKU doesn't allow for HDMI-CEC control. The Amazon Firestick is not a problem.
