GE Universal Remotes are made with a simplistic design, and a simplistic guide on how to work with it. This 8 device remote is probably the best way to go. Now I'm not saying you should get this specific remote, but it fits my hands comfortably, it's got a good design to it, lightweight, the whole remote from the front to the back is all the same, nothing is cut off, like the 4 device remotes, buttons are easy to navigate, and just everything else about this remote is great. I have 7 devices on 1 remote: One TV Sony Blu-Ray Player Orion VCR Pioneer 5 Disc DVD Player and Surround Sound Speaker System (which the DVD part is broken, so I only use the sound) Roku Player RCA Converter Box and a 4 Device HDMI Connector.

For the eject button (to DVD players) press the shift button, press the guide button, and the DVD player should eject. For the eject button (to VCR's) press the record button, just be careful about pressing that button, always check the tab on the VHS, but you should be able to eject with that button.

Sorry for the late response, your comment was lost in the mix.. Yes it should be under cbl or sat... But I think with GE you can put the device under any button. If that brand is listed and you've tried all the codes,.. did you try the auto code search?

Hi, actually no. The remote doesn't know whether the TV is programmed or not. It's only sending out codes. The TV should respond by turning off if it's on, or on if it's off..

My old fios remote broke and the new one does not have the same feature as the old one. My problem with the new one is that I cannot turn on the receiver with the tv and stb. The old remote (after programming) I could just press the power button and everything turned on. Does this remote have that "just press power" and everything turns on? Thanks

My guess is no. If you have the manual you'll want to look there and see if this remote can do a macro. A macro is a pre-programmed sequence that you choose and will do what you're saying. It will actually send out two or however many sequences you need.. I don't think this remote can do that, but i'm not 100%.

Most likely it will.. It's like the old Montgomery Wards TVs, they didn't make anything! It was Sharp, RCA, Zenith, etc... the TVs were always the same as their counterpart, just the name plate on the front was different!... :-)

Hmmm.. You should be auto programming using the DVD device button. If you're doing this and it's still turning on the TV, maybe ignore the TV and see if you keep going will it hit on codes for the DVD? Just a thought.

How do I get my DVD menu button to work? I've tried all the codes for the brand dvd recorer/vhs player I own, but when I enter the code that allows me to play, pause, stop, fast forward my DVD the menu button doesn't appear to do anything whenever I press it. I also point at my device when pressing the button.

It's possible it's not completely compatible. The only other thing you can try is the auto code search and see if it'll hit on a code that'll bring up the menu.

Most of these basic remotes will have a problem with the smart features of your TV. Your best bet is to get a remote that's teachable. But that means you'll have to have the original remote to teach the universal the commands if any of them turn up missing..

Yes you can usually access the aspect ratio through the menu within the TV.. Most TVs are different, so not sure how to navigate to it on your particular model.

This remote isn't made for a smart TV. It's also not teachable, ( I don't think). Most remotes aren't made for a smart TV, but they can be taught the commands if you have the original remote. But you need a remote that has learning capabilities.

HI, the manufacturer of the remote "recommends" that you program it with the TV or device turned on. However, it'll work either way. The remote sends out "power" codes. These codes will either turn on or off the device and are not just "on" or "off" if that makes sense.

You could try programming in the tv and dvd as 2 separate devices. Program in the codes for Sylvania TV, and use TV as one device and a Sylvania DVD and use that as a 2nd device. Im not for sure it'll work, but its worth a try.

Oh ok... IT depends on what input you're using. Do you have a streaming device using an HDMI input (like fire-stick, Apple TV, Roku?)? Or are you using one that is sending signal to a channel 3 input? Without knowing that I won't be able to give you a good answer. Unless youre using an over the air antenna where your picking up actual channels, you're probably either going to need channel 3, or an HDMI input whether it's 1, 2, 3, etc...

I highly doubt it'll work on something like that... This remote is made for consumer electronics like TV, VCR, DVD stuff like that. I think there are some computer codes on some remotes for computer towers, but not a converter like you've described...

When I try the auto code search, it just turns my TV off. Then the light stays on fire at least a minute before finally going off. But it won't turn on the TV afterwards, even if I push 1. Followed the instructions to the T.

Usually if it'll turn off the TV, it'll turn it back on. It's not sending out a "On" or "Off" command, but just a power command. Did you stop sending out codes when the TV got turned off?

@@JLPicard440 I was trying the auto code search so I don't know if it stopped sending them out or not but from what it looked like, the remotes light stopped flashing and went off completely so it would just turn off my TV and soon afterv the little red light would stop flashing. Then I would not be able to turn my TV back on via remote.

I'm not sure why the auto search wouldn't work like you suggested, I don't have another tv to test it on at the moment either. This TV is wonderful, however, it certainly has it's quirks.

A. Sikor. I’m sure it’s going to vary with different TVs ... but it should be in the manual how to enable/disable that... if you can’t find it in the manual try to google the manufacturer and how to unlock IR... if that still doesn’t work... there’s always returning the tv if u just got it... but if u like the TV that’s obviously a last resort... there might even be a tech support number in the manual... I wish I could be more help, but without seeing the tv it’s hard to say.

I have this same remote with a brand new LG flatscreen , I press the setup button till red light comes on then TV, then power , so the red light blinks about 5 times then just stays on forever unless I press the power button again then blinks 5 times or so then just stays on Forever. It almost sounds like you've initiated the auto code search? I'm just guessing. Check the batteries are they fresh? Do you have the code list? Usually a GE remote is pretty straight forward, press the setup button until the red light stays on, press the device button, enter the code. The red light should go out and it's programmed.

HI, DVD players are going to be different, but most have a main movie menu where you can select the different tracks on there. Whether or not this remote can access that menu, I can't say. Did you try all the codes for your particular brand of DVD player?
