In the United States, we really like to pit progressives vs. conservatives against each other. It’s insane to me how political ideologies have become so embedded in our identities. Like... we can believe in the same thing, we can be one body, one church that belongs to God, we can read and believe the same Bible... AND we can still have differences in how we think those things should be lived out. Am I crazy for thinking this?!

No you're not. As someone who's lived across the world and come across many cultures I've seen a lot. I do not mean to offend anyone but I noticed that some American missions have a very us vs them attitude. That if you don't don't interpret the Bible like the way they taught you would would be considered one of "them". Out of 7 billion people on the planet, 2.5+ billion people are Christians divided into 30000+ denominations. Of course there's gonna be different interpretations because we have different life experiences that will affect how each of us read scripture so the obsession of some about "how I read the Bible and interpret it is how God intended it" and only reading or accepting teachings from those we agree with is so crazy to me.
@JudgeKudz5 жыл бұрын
@Kasai Samurai I get what you're saying but that isn't how this works practically. The way we interact and respond to any form of media is hugely affected by our life experiences, culture and relationships. Most people in the world who are members of the Christian faith see culture as presented in the Bible yes and they try to live through faith in the context they are familiar with, they don't have the resources to research further the Jewish traditions and history that led to mindsets that individuals in the Bible might have had. If you just go into the Bible with written from the perspective of one culture and God inspired the Bible, therefore they are in the right culturally, that's not rounded. Plus a lot of our theology is heavily based on cultural aspects of interpretation. I'm assuming (I might be wrong) that you subscribe to Redemptive Theology, which has roots in the Netherlands and popped up during the Reformation. Likewise there is Liberation theology that's uniquely from South America and there are a host of others in Africa, Asia and the United States. Though the Bible may only show one culture the way we interact with that culture and the Word today varies.

I love when you talk about teaching! I’ve wanted to be a teacher since I was 4 years old and now that I’m going into my senior year of high school the anxiety of “am I going to be a good teacher?”, “What if the students don’t like me?”, “What if I don’t make the impact I want to as a teacher and I fall flat as a teacher?” keeps growing. I’d love if you talked about how you overcame those fears more in depth or even about anxieties about not being good enough in general. I mean it’s your channel so you can make whatever videos you want, but I know many Christians suffer from these types of issues and it would be nice to hear what you have to say. God bless you, Becca (sorry for the rambling)!

Girl, you are at the same time so sensitive and so faithful and godly! My wife and I have been struggling heavily with progressive Christianity because all of our friends turned over to that branch over time, and we've been feeling so lonely in church... and churches faithful to the Bible here in our country are so insensitive, hard and condemning to people, that we've been even having a hard time finding a community that we feel comfortable at from a spiritual point of view. I can't explain how hard it is. And I celebrate so much every time I find someone on youtube or anywhere who can at the same time be Bible-focused and sensitive (which should be one and the same). Anyway, just needed to take that out of my chest and encourage you and bless you in Jesus' name. Don't take that gift you have for granted: Know that it's a scarce gift somewhere else in the world. Thank you for keeping all this up!

Re: "progressive Christianity," I basically agree with your perspective on these issues, but think you tend to paint somewhat too simplistic a picture of "what the Bible says" vs. "what the world says." For instance, the Bible really doesn't *explicitly* mention abortion, and some of what it does say on quite related issues (e.g., Exod 21:22-25) can easily be taken in the other direction. In fact, if you look at the history, around the time of Roe v. Wade many prominent conservative evangelicals (e.g., W. A. Criswell, the firebrand pastor of First Baptist Dallas) were quite "on the fence," precisely because the lack of an obvious biblical teaching, and many dismissed the pro-life cause as the preoccupation of Catholics more concerned with natural law theory. It took at least a decade for many to come around, and so the way this issue played out really doesn't fit the strict "Bible vs. world" paradigm. It's very easy to confuse "the Bible" and "biblical infallibility" with "the infallibility of the way I interpret the Bible," and sometimes IMO it's taking "the world's" questions and contributions seriously that can lead us back to a fuller and truer understanding of Scripture.

I'm gay. And naturally I know a lot of gay people. NONE of them define themselves by their sexuality. We are a community of artists, of musicians, of writers, of thinkers, and more importantly than anything a community of people. I'm also Christian. I briefly stopped believing in God but then I paid attention to the world around me and saw His beauty and grace in all things, including myself. God made me gay for a reason and I think it would be wrong to defy the love I'm capable of giving. Christ's love is unconditional. I'm grateful that after many long years I've finally found a Christian church that preaches love rather than judgement. Judge not lest ye be judged. I would encourage you to pray on the matter and open your heart to a universal understanding of Christ's love. Peace!
@hamsterlord88484 жыл бұрын
" God made me gay for a reason " Well He didn't actually make you gay. Nothing in the environment causes gayness. A lack of unconditional love at certain formative years from the parent of your gender can cause particular unrequited desires. God said, be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth(overpopulation of the world is a myth). "Judge not lest ye be judged." You are using that wrong. The full line is actually judge not lest ye be judge, for by the measure ye judge others, ye shall be judged. That means judge others but don't be a hypocrite because it will work against you. The measure you use to judge others is the measure that will be used to judge you. So I can say to you, you shouldn't be sexually perverted. You shouldn't feed the sexual perversion. You should heal it.

@@hamsterlord8848 wow that’s so medically inaccurate I don’t know what to say, so I’ll start here: You shouldn’t take the Bible literally. It’s a guide and a tool for us to better understand God. Science is equally as revealing of God’s nature as the Bible. As we learn more about ourselves and the miracles of creation we become closer and gain a deeper appreciation of God’s hand in all things. Even us gay people who, hate to break it to you, are indeed born gay.

@@Code_Monkey_ " wow that’s so medically inaccurate I don’t know what to say, so I’ll start here" Excuses excuses. So what, you believe in the gay gene? You know that was debunked a long time ago. "You shouldn’t take the Bible literally" You shouldn't take it so metaphorically. When prophecies happen you will get confused. The bible says anyone who even picks up sticks on the sabbath should be killed. Jesus did things on the sabbath. So why was that in there? One idea is Israelites were allowed slaves and so they couldn't work them everyday. "Even us gay people who, hate to break it to you, are indeed born gay." Nope. Reality shows us that no babies are gay. Babies have no sexuality. You cannot be born gay. You learn what gayness is, and you learn to be attracted to that. A woman tried to marry a tree, do you think she was born attracted to trees? The purpose of the sexual drive in biology is procreation. Wasting your energy on base pleasure is not Godly, especially when there is a Godly way to express that and it's for a purpose. There are things you don't even know about the mind. How is your relationship with your mother and father?

I just want to say that I’ve recently found and fell in love with your videos. And I agree with everything you said in this even about progressive Christians(I consider myself one to an extent) I know a lot of Christian want to seek approval from the world but we truly just need it from God. I have recently been working on it and getting closer and closer to him. That being said from my POV I support things such as LGBTQ+ and abortions for these reasons. I want them to feel like they have a support system and that they are hated or left out because one of the main beliefs is to love and I will love them as equal as the next because they are all made in God’s eyes. My views on abortion are kinda different. I consider myself Pro-choice even though I don’t support/ agree with abortions ( I don’t see it as killing a current life but as potential) I know that if they were outlawed the mere affects that were to happen such as higher rates of deaths and my damage done than that could be prevented. I support a woman’s right to choose because if I were ever in that situation I wouldn’t want the option forced upon me ( even though I would choose to keep it). That’s just my thoughts on this as a 16 year old here still learning and growing. I really don’t know why I wrote this on a video that is over a year old but I’m here so. Yeah that jt
@hamsterlord88484 жыл бұрын
The problem with that point of view, is the various details. Abortion is unnecessary most of the time. The idea, that if we don't allow abortion, so many rape victims have to carry and raise unwanted babies, is ridiculous. Most rape victims have access to medical care after the fact. We are looking at a tiny percentage. And who is to say when lightning strikes, that it was not God's will. However you spin it, you cannot justify killing one person for the convenience of another. How exactly do you support gayness? Because what I see, especially the issue with gay marriage, is not christians telling gays they can't be together. I see gays trying to force Christians to accept a different, ungodly version of marriage as marriage. Finally the trans issue is the most satanic of these problems. To declare God made a mistake is evil. It's what evil does to justify actions. Look at the way surgical and chemical mutilation is pushed onto children in this time. A mother actually tried to force her 8 year old son to get a sex change. Maybe no one is born in the wrong body and it's just a demonic possession to think otherwise.

Hey, progressive Christian here. 👋🏻 Just wanted to let you know that progressive Christianity isn't about wanting to be liked by anyone or to fit in with the world. And it's not about not living by God and just wanting to do whatever we want without conviction. And it's not being "lukewarm". It's simply a bit of a different way of being as a Christian and seeing things differently, just as every different Christian denomination is. I'm not sure which denomination you are, but I seriously doubt you would go out of your way to speak so negatively of every other and discredit them as you do progressive Christians, which is hypocritical in my opinion. And I do appreciate you at least trying to come into this from a loving place, but you're also spreading a lot of misinformation and stereotypes about progressive Christianity that simply aren't true, and are very hurtful. So I would recommend you look deeper into it, do your research, and talk to more progressive Christians. Here's just one website that helps to explain the origin of progressive Christianity, what our beliefs are and tend to be more specifically, and how they ARE rooted in Jesus NOT the world; www.bethelbeaverton.org/progressive-christianity Now about your question about what the Bible says about beliefs you believe progressive Christians to hold and those at least a lot of us do; Some definitely believe in abortion, as do many other types of Christians and other people, but I personally do not, I am pro-life in every way and aspect, not just in terms of abortion. Even just from a basic human moral standpoint I believe that it is taking a life of another person which is wrong and I believe no one has the right to do for any reason (excluding in need of immediate defense of life from an attacker in some situations), but I do also believe it may be considered a sin. (But I'd also like to add here that progressive Christians well mainly sharing the same beliefs of course aren't all exactly the same, all Christians aren't exactly the same, and people in general aren't exactly the same. So making blanket statements about us as you have, I don't think is generally very helpful.) But as for many others things, for example the existence and condemnation of h***, and whether being LGBTQ+ is a sin, there is a lot of research and theology that shows that h*** was never actually mentioned in the original bible and all the times it is said in English translations is actually translated from FOUR DIFFERENT Greek and Hebrew words that have different meanings, and the word 'homosexual' was never even in the Bible until 1946 when it was wrongly translated (there is research and witness testimony to back this up), and any other verse or passage in the Bible that seems to be referencing and condemning it has been translated in many different ways over the years and can be interpreted in many different ways as well. So no, I don't believe it is certainly clear in the Bible that being LGBTQ+ is a sin, and I myself am LGBTQ+ affirming. But that doesn't mean I'm not living by God. One of the most amazing things about being a progressive Christian in my opinion is questioning what we may see at face value in modern translations of the Bible and who it was written from and how those people came to believe what they did, and just being on a constant quest to really deeply know God and where his heart really is on everything, including these subjects. Just taking what you see that was written and translated many times over by man as God's definitive word (as fundamentalist Christians seem to do a lot of the time) instead of really looking into it all more deeply and doing research on it all honestly I think may be the real sin. And also I'm sure I could point out many ways and things about you and other Christians who believe as you do how you're not living strictly by the Bible we see printed today, of your own choosing. For example; Has any married woman you know been sold by her father to her husband who she herself also did not get to choose for herself, but had to live with whoever her father chose for her without her consent or blessing? Would you be willing to go along with a situation like that? Because that was how marriage worked in the Bible. Sorry for the very long message, but I feel strongly about all of this because I do really love God and I don't appreciate the false information and negative and condescending attitude you and so many others are perpetuating about progressive Christianity that simply isn't stemmed from the truth of us or our intentions. I hope you can try to listen to my side of things here and have an open heart as I think you do. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Re: reaching out to members of the LGBTQ community. One thing I've found helpful has simply been to view them first as made in the image of God and second as sinners instead of the other way around. @Spencer Hummer Hi Spencer! First of all, Jesus loves you. A LOT. When God made people, He made them in His image, and we were created to be with Him. He called us VERY good. Our sins (which are just anything we do that is contrary to God's goodness - lying, greed, lust, pride, gossip, impatience, anger, idolatry, etc.) separated us from God though. We have ALL sinned in many ways, and these sins can't be repaid by doing good things. Someone had to take the punishment/pay the penalty for us if we were going to have a relationship with God again. Jesus, who was both fully God and fully man, did that when He died on the cross, even though He had done nothing wrong. Now everyone who trusts in Jesus alone can experience forgiveness, freedom, and new life with Jesus that starts now and lasts forever. That's the best news that I know. All of this means, Spencer, that you are a person of infinite worth, a person worth dying for. The Creator of the Universe says so. And yes, I think you're a sinner, too, but so am I.

FarAwayDistance As a progressive, I feel that your explanation of us (as having some urgent need to be pleased/accepted)... is wrong or far fetched to say the least. I don´t know anyone of my progressive friends who would describe their position as such. I was a conservative fundamentalist, my friends back then were the same... I had a group that accepted me, others outside might not. However studying, analysing, debating and being totally honest led me to religion from a totally new perspective. I lost some of my old friends and found new ones. The change hade very little to do with acceptance, or at least not more than I needed acceptance as a conservative. The whole argument falls on a view that has been thought to you, and I believe you have not questioned it and analysed it, and therefore you believe what someone has said, and therefore, "any other view is wrong" and therefore you will never understand someone´s else's point in that matter. Progressive people are HONEST people in general. Now that they don´t practice religion in the same way you do, isn´t because they are BAD, but because of their conclusions which have led to them seeing things from different perspectives.

@@ddannydaniel3340 That´s a bit hard to answer, as I don´t know exactly what you mean (assume) by those questions. I see many questions as both deep and problematic, and a simple answer is quite often a bit distorted answer, like is killing wrong? Yes! So you can´t kill in a war.... ah, you can... well you just said.... Abortion should be avoided in general, whenever it is possible. If there is a case where a (young) woman can/will give birth but is not of some reason ready to care for the child, one could support her to give birth, and then arrange for some parents (without a child) to take care of the child. Are there cases when abortion is ok, in my view, yes, like if someone has been raped. Then there are a lot of problematic cases in between. - just to show, there are no simple answers. In general, I might agree with many progressive/liberal ideas, but that is not a goal in itself, it is more like a conclusion one draws from the facts that are available.

Thanks for sharing your views on this. And again, my intent is only to share my opinion and see what others think of it. From my perspective, part of the problem is the idea that the Bible is completely inerrant. Yes, many churches teach that the Bible is inerrant, but I don't think that there's a scriptural basis for saying that that is definitely true. For one thing, I think a lot of us assume that inerrancy is necessary for general truth, but it really isn't. For example, we usually trust our parents as children, but of coarse, parents can be wrong on occasion. Almost never are our parents perfect, but like with the Bible, one can still generally trust that what they say is true. The text is "God breathed" but that doesn't necessarily make it completely inerrant. As evidence of that, Genesis shows that human life is also breathed by God, but it's well-known that no human is perfect, even if God breathed our lives into us. We can and do make mistakes. Ultimately, only God can be perfect, not any humans or any books. One might argue that we were perfect before the fall, but if that were true, then the forbidden fruit wouldn't have been a temptation for Adam and Eve. A perfect person or other being would not have any negative temptations. In fact, Paul even says “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.” If the text was completely without error, Paul would probably have said something more like “We fully know because we have scripture.” But the fact is, he didn't say that, and that's most likely because he knew that even with the Bible as his source of authority and knowledge, that knowledge isn't perfect since the text is God-breathed rather than directly God itself in a similar way to the life in us that that God-breathed. With the stuff above in mind, I think it's important to note a couple things, which I have listed below: 1. There's nothing in the Bible that mentions abortion specifically. One of the Ten Commandments is not to kill, but the problem with that is that there is that the Bible gives various exceptions to that rule, particularly when it comes to the death penalty and killing and eating animals for meat. So I don't that the fact that it says not to kill is strong in the Ten Commandment is a strong argument against abortion, unless the person making that argument is also opposed to the death penalty and/or is vegetarian or vegan. In addition, under traditional Jewish law, which is what Jesus followed, an unborn child doesn't have the same value as they do once they are born. Personhood is seen under Jewish Law as beginning at birth. Plus, the Bible has some verses that arguable show that certain unborn and even born children aren't very valuable. For example, Psalms 137:8 says "O daughter of Babylon, you devastator! Happy shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock!" 2. Modern translations the Bible appear to speak ill of homosexuality, with 1 Corinthians 6:9 being probably the most well-known verse that speaks against it. That's true. However, the Ten Commandments don't mention homosexuality, so I think that is a good indication that at the very least, it is not worse than other sins. It should also be acknowledged that the concept of homosexuality in the modern sense of the word didn't really exist at the time and in the cultures in which the Bible was written. Most same-sex relationships of that time were between grown men and male children (usually catamites). And those men were also often already married to a woman. They were basically pederastic relationships. In your Bible, 1 Corinthians 6:9 probably says something like "Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men ..." or even "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, no'r adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, ..." The Greek word translated as "men who practice homosexuality" and "men who have sex with men" is "arsenokoitai", which most closely mean "those who lie with males", and it's also used in 1 Timothy 1:10. In Greco-Roman culture, boys who hadn't yet reached adulthood were typically called "males". So it seems to me like what is being condemned in both 1 Corinthians 6:9 and 1 Timothy 1:10 is pederasty rather that homosexuality in general. Further evidence of that is the English meaning of 1 Corinthians 6:9 of Martin Luther's Bible. In English, that means "Know ye not, that the unjust shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be seduced! Neither the prostitutes, nor the idolaters adulterers, nor the wimps, nor the boy molesters, ..." Romans 1:26-27 also often appears to condemn homosexuality, but when read in context, with the surrounding it seems most likely that the verse is about a type of idol worship that involved men and women basically worshipping/lusting after images rather than purely worshipping God. Plus, Romans 2:1 says "You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things." So given both that and the context of the verse, I don't thin that Romans 1:26-27 is a part .
@mahimahi89225 жыл бұрын
So basically youre saying the bible is innerant because you dont like what it says when it comes to abortion and homosexuality. Also Romans 1:26-27 is preety clear. Paul is basically condemning those who judge these people and yet do the same things ( unrighteous judgement ).
@technoloverish5 жыл бұрын
@@mahimahi8922 Just to be clear, do you think that homosexuality between consenting adults should be criminalized under civil law or do you just disagree with it from a Christian perspective? No, it's that I don't like that many modern Bible translations have been deceptively edited to make it seems like homosexuality is some horrible crime against humanity. As far as abortion goes, the Bible doesn't mention abortion. What I dislike in that regard is that many churches condemn abortion as though it is mentioned in the Bible. In fact, evangelical protestants didn't originally oppose abortion much until the sexual revolution. Romans 1:26-27 isn't as clear as many make it out to be. The word "unnatural" in that verse is translated from the Greek word "para physin", which can also mean "unconventional". It's not an inherently negative term. Also, early Christian writers, such as Aristides, understood that Romans verse to be specifically about Pagan idol worship of the Roman goddess Cybile. Paul's overall point is of that Chapter of Romans is to point out that everybody is a sinner.
@mahimahi89225 жыл бұрын
@@technoloverish To answer your first question , I don't believe it should be criminalized because 1. not everyone is a Christian and 2. Homosexuality is no different a sin from fornication , adultery therefore if it was criminalised , fornication and adultery should also be and 3.govermnents are founded in sin thus they will conflict with God's commands at times. To answer on abortion , Jeremiah 1:4 is clear . God knew us before we were in the womb and has a purpose for each and every one of us. The bible also doesn't mention pornography , masturbation. Does that mean that they are right? Murder is to take someone elses life away period, whether in or out of the womb. On the issue of Romans , you can't just look at a singular word. Read from Romans 1:18 downwards on how God gives people up to a reprobrate mind , the worst of His judgement. It's absurd to say that the word unnatural may carry a positive connotation in light of the verses that precede and come after it.
@technoloverish5 жыл бұрын
@@mahimahi8922 Fair enough on that first point. Understood. As for abortion, I'm familiar with that Jeremiah verse that you're talking about. However, if you read what it actually says, it is specific to Jeremiah. It isn't talking about all unborn children. Hence, the verse ends by saying "...and I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." So it's my understanding that the verse is simply saying that God knew Jeremiah before he was born. No, the Bible doesn't mention masturbation or pornography, and while I do think those things can be wrong, I don't think they are inherently wrong. I guess those things are inferred by many Christians to be wrong because it is assumed that that those things fall under the category of "sexual immorality" and/or "fornication". However, the word used in the original Greek text of the Bible that those terms are translated from is "porneia", which, in Greek, specifically means "prostitution". In the context of the Bible, it is probably a reference to the sacred shrine prostitution that was rampant in Greco-Roman communities.

@@technoloverish Look , everything that God needed to be said has been said in the Bible. I don't think you're a Christian so I'll just leave this discussion here. Highly encourage you to read the bible for yourself and pray for discernment from the Holy Spirit.

So how did you make so that when reading the Bible, that was the priority and the important thing not the social media? If that makes any sense.
@rebekahkohlhepp5 жыл бұрын
I have a genuine question that I hope you will take the time to think about and consider. I am very honestly wondering what your biblical basis is for why abortion is wrong. I know your arguments, but where in the bible is it explicitly stated that abortion is murder or it is wrong? How do you know God's thoughts on it? I know there is a rather vague passage that people interpret as God being pro-life: "For You formed my inward parts; You [a]covered me in my mother’s womb. . . . Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them." Psalm 139:13-16 But then there's also Hosea 13:16: "Samaria is held guilty, For she has rebelled against her God. They shall fall by the sword, Their infants shall be dashed in pieces, And their women with child ripped open." How do you decide which is God's REAL stance on abortion? Thanks for taking the time to read this!!

Hi! I am a young Christian seeking advice (college age). Anyone can respond to this: What are your thoughts on cussing? People quote Ephesians 4:29 but we are not told exactly what words to not use and it seems like refraining from cussing is a cultural thing in the US. what are your thoughts on drinking, if you’re of age (but obviously not getting drunk), at special events (weddings, birthdays etc)? How do I deal with judgement from non-Christian family members? How do I answer questions about sexuality without coming off as self righteous and having people claim that the Bible was changed in the 20th century. How do I deal with the hurt that comes from judgement from Christian’s who have different beliefs, due to being a different denomination, and judgement from unbelievers for being “boring.” It’s like one side judges you for being too boring and the other thinks you’re not “Christian” enough. How do you stand from in your identity in Christ? Would really appreciate any sound advice. Thank you!

About people claiming to be Christian but don't practice the Christian life: that's what we call tribal Christians. It has nothing to do with the theology. Only that they were born into the Christian culture. It's the same way non practicing Jews are still considered Jews. It's social bonds that are not easy to sever. We feel solidarity with Christians when a church in Egypt is destroyed. The cross is our team flag. There are different kinds of social bonds; family, nation and religion and those bonds hold even when we don't necessarily value everything a nation or religion stands for.

I'm going to be 100% upfront and say I disagree with you a lot because I am a progressive christian, but I do enjoy many of your videos and have been a viewer. That being said, saying the bible never changes and that we shouldn't want to be "like the world" is a very uneasy idea, especially when it comes to the topic of slavery which the Bible gets wrong. Slavery is wrong. There is no way to reconcile loving someone with also owning them as property. Christians used to use these same arguments to defend slavery and that eventually was struck down because it goes against Jesus' core principle of loving others. There will always be disagreements based on theological interpretations of the Bible, but I don't think shutting our eyes and saying "I'm not like the world" instead of maybe trying to understand each other is the correct way. Things I disagree with make me uncomfortable, as they do for everyone, but my faith in God is so strong and my belief in his love for all people is so strong that fully engaging in these tough crossroads only furthers my path. I hope it does the same for you and all watching.

ddanny daniel ??? The bible supports slavery to the point where it was used by Christian slaveholders to defend their position. The Old-Testament is pretty pro-slavery and the New Testament doesn't outright decree slavery to be unjust. Isn't that usually the argument against homosexuality? Jesus didn't specifically mention it so the traditional way is the best?
@ddannydaniel33404 жыл бұрын
@@margscarpone The Bible doesn't support slavery, it only gives instructions about how people that want to work off their debt can go and its voluntary.There is death penalty for anyone that kidnaps someone in the Bible.This is obvious with minimal research. Homosexuality is a moral issue, slavery(servanthood) was an economic issue. By the way if you do a little more research you would notice that the slaveholders were ripping parts of the Bible to give to the slaves. The actual Christians that followed the Bible freed the slaves because they were kidnapped
@margscarpone4 жыл бұрын
ddanny daniel Just as abolitionists used the Bible to argue against the "kidnapping of slaves", so did other Christians use the Bible to defend slavery. The Bible is not clear in its opposition, and quite frankly the fact that it can be used to support slavery in any way shows that it is not the infallible book many Christians think it is. We like to through around the term "actual Christians", but the truth is both pro and anti slavery Christians were all actual Christians. They used the same book to lengthily argue extremely different views. Slavery might be an economic issue to some but it is a moral issue to me, just because that morality was stripped out of the Old Testameng doesn't change that.

Hey. There are things I kinda cannot understand. 1. Do you really think God cares (not that I believe that God exists) if people who just love someone who has the same gender and do no harm anyone? You mention buying from Old Navy. They are a fast-fashion company. Their practices are not the worst, but they are still very crap and support unethical practices that harm the environment and people. Please, watch: The true cost. Another issue: animal agriculture? Mistreating and killing creatures put on this world by god even we do not have to. I mean. You eat mac and cheese in one of the videos meaning you support rape, torture, and killing of sentient beings. Please, watch: Dominion If God is against people who, all they do is to just love someone that is the same gender but is fine with the real atrocities, it sounds more like a devil to me, not God. 2. There are parts in Bible you are not following. I just watched two of your videos and noticed already two things. I genuinely ask, no hate. None of the Christian female KZbinrs ever answer those questions. 1 Timothy 2:12 ESV I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. Yet, here you are. Teaching and speaking up for what you believe in. I am also pretty sure KZbin is a platform used by all genders, including men. 1 Timothy 2:9 ESV Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire Yet, you do wear pearls in this very video. You do have braided hair in another one.
