There's no rule against putting tube pedals in front of tube amp, It's all how you use them. We didn't have any problems using this pedal on a Fender Deluxe Reverb. All the amp sees is a distorted signal. Hope that helps, PGS

I had one of these and sold it over 10 years ago and I think about it every day. It was the best sounding distortion I’ve ever owned.

Yes, just use the emulated speaker output and plug direct into your mixer.
@rrippp15 жыл бұрын
Yes, sounds like that are one of the things it was built for. It has more gain than you could want, and a brilliant EQ section to help you find the exact shade of tone you need. No, I'm not a salesman for Blackstar, but I am a happy user of the DistX ;)

@Maxmaxz the HT winding runs at 300v, which is after the mains transformer has stepped it up from 240v or 120v.. He needs to know which voltage to use for mains. The HT is the secondary winding of the transformer, the part that that powers the valve internally which is 300v which they advertise because valves sound better around this voltage, rather than the lower voltages a Tube Driver runs on for instance.

Sweet! That's "let it roll" by UFO at 1:50- Andy you rock!!
@rrippp15 жыл бұрын
You can get very close to that trebly sound by rolling the ISF to the left (American) side, and dialling in lots of treble. In my experience, the chunky tones come from dialling in thick bass and mids, and rolling the ISF to the Brit side.

yes. I run one into a fender solid state, and it's quite good.

You may also want to look into a isolation cabinet, there are some demo videos on youtube to give you an idea of the tones and external volume attenuation. I'm in the same boat (being in a small church) and I'm really looking forward to getting the money for an iso cab. Good luck!

i was either gonna get this, or the heavier distx. i got the distx. it's pretty much the same as this one, but with more aggression and gain, and a sovtek valve. the downside is it is hard to tame and doesn't do anything mild or subtle, but that's what i was looking for at the same time - good quality heavy tones. it sounds almost as good as a high-gain stack, and at much lower volumes.

Two questions: What is the difference between this one and DistX? Appearance? Secondly, what is the deal with tubes in pedals anyway? Is it really necessary if I already do have a full tube amp?
@themodernguitarist15 жыл бұрын
American = Focuses on the treble/bass British = Focuses on midrange. If anyone has a better description, I would like to hear it also. =P
@blitheringFool15 жыл бұрын
There are three levels of drive, as far as I'm concerned. Overdrive, distortion, and fuzz. They vary based on the gain of the unit. Overdrive is supposed to sound like a tube amp on the edge or slightly past breakup. Distortion is crunchier and has more gain. Fuzz is all out gain, and (as far as I can tell) not attainable by a tube amp. Three different words that essentially describe the same effect.

with this pedal do you need a high volume to get distorsion? I own a Blackstar HT5, and the gain and volume needs to be VERY high to obtain distorsion. Way too high volume for my neighbors.

@jriv454 I got the Ht dual,and i think the HT dist gain stage is the same as the Ht dual's 2nd stage drive.and I'm boosting channel 2 with an ibanez Ts9.its reacts just like a tube amp.it doest get muddy.check it out,I love my ts9+htdual+isp decimator sound.blackstar pedals sound really good.
