This is SMASH REMIX, a fan mod of Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64! It takes the original game and adds in a TON of new characters, with some familiar Smash faces like Wario, Mewtwo, and Ganondorf. But it also adds in a bunch of new ones like Marina from Mischief Makers, Conker, and more! There's also a ton of new awesome stages to play on!

First up, shoutout to Mischief Makers. Absolutely love that game. Second, would be fun to see more Smash content whatever it is you find. Third, I've always been a button jumper. Pressing UP to jump never made sense to me from a control perspective. As for Marina in this game, yeah she definitely looks like the grappler style of fighter.

So happy Jared is playing the best Smash rom hack ever! Really gotta check everything! Many new modes, stages, variations of stages, new items, new music and even extra bits they didn't have to do. You can play with modern Smash controls as they added charge smash attacks, dodging, tripping and many more settings.

I played this game a ton as a kid and did see a bunch of other options I didn't remember, so I agree that will be super fun. Break the Targets was 100% in the original Smash 64 though.

SSE was rad, the best part of Brawl by far, best campaign mode of the franchise. I'd love it if whatever Switch successor gets a Smash successor that's just the same cast of characters, but they give the "Everyone is Here" treatment to game modes.

Remix isn't played much by the competitive scene, but top tiers would be kirby or pikachu. For a broken remix character you gotta try Dragon King (captain falcon alt). He's from an unfinished game that eventually got remade into smash 64

Im totally down for a conker series lol and sub space was an awesome addition and always wish they brought it back. Also i use the c/y-x button smash involves to much jumping to have it on the stick

The piano is playable, is located in Kirby as one of the options of different regional modes some characters have, Polygon mode basically disables your special moves, think of it as a hard mode of sorts, also... Remix 1P mode... the difficulties aren't what they say, putting it on normal is in reality between Hard and Very Hard, Very Easy is just Easy, Easy is somewhat around Normal and Hard, in any case, this hack is very fun to play.

This was incredible. I'm so glad I got to see Marina! Also it has been a long time since I looked but I didn't think Fox was ever top tier in Smash 64? I know Kirby was broken op levels of good. That's who I played as a kid and even as someone who knew nothing about video games I could tell he did more than the other characters.

Do all the characters have alternates on the character select screen? You showed that Slippy is an alternate for Falco, but are there ones for Dark Samus, Wario, etc?

So, a lot of these are references to cut content from the original game. Originally, Fox's alternate costumes were going to be the other three members of Star Fox, similar to how Bowser Jr. was implemented later on. However, technical limitations (and the idea that Slippy & Peppy were as fast and agile as Fox/Falco) prevented that. Bowser, Dedede, Marth, and Mewtwo were also planned for inclusion on the roster, but had to be cut for time, with Jigglypuff taking Mewtwo's spot on the roster due to being easy to make (as most of its model and mechanics are recycled from Kirby). A little surprised Final Smashes aren't in this game, since they were intended to be originally and most of the Final Smash shouts we'd eventually get in Brawl for the original 12 were from 64. Also, Ebisumaru is pronounced "Eh-bee-sue-mahr-roo." I do wish Nintendo would make an "Ultimate Smash 64" to not only include the four cut characters, but make all the 1P stuff playable, including the Metal Mario stage.
