To leave is to admit defeat and let them take over. The solution is to never back down and fight till the end. Hopefully, it won't come to a physical, violent and militarized fight (more than it already is) but we've got to be prepared to fight for what we believe in a 1000x stronger than they do or they will win. The Nazis lost not because they were helplessly incompetent (though incompetence makes a foe more easily defeated) but because they were met with resistance once we realized what they were, what goals they had and what they were capable of. Let's resist conservative, fascist and neo-liberal capitalist politicians before they have destroyed everything we stand for.

Lornes Forge - Wouldn't be surprised if the word was coined by rightwingers. It carries the most weight and seems to resonate with them as "degenerate pedophiles after my kids". Does the left need a word that designates someone "not homophobic, not racist"? I work on the assumption my fellow earthling is sane, rational and decent, only when they show themselves to be racists, homophobes or similarly deranged does the neccesity for those words come into play.

The most terrifying aspect of this, to me, is how powerful the United States is. The Third Reich, Mussolini's Italy, and Francoist Spain never had the sheer power that the United States has. Hitler and Mussolini, as well as their goons, could be annihilated by the Allies in a matter of half a decade. Nearly all autocratic monarchies have died out from within, as they lacked effective means of enforcing their power. The British Royal Family gradually lost its power, the Romanovs got shot, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette got sliced, etc. Francoist Spain's fascism gradually dwindled out of existence after Franco's death. To externally topple a fascist America, nothing short of the entire world would be necessary. It seems that internally, most Americans are already demoralized by rampant corporatism and technology, so I believe that very few Americans would care enough to stop it before it's too late. Assuming Trump wins and maintains his relationship with Russia, who knows how long we'd be living in the GOP's custom hell scape for?
@Baccanaso
@Baccanaso 9 күн бұрын
You're making way too many assumptions and blackpilling yourself. The US is nothing compared to Monarchies and Empires that survived millenia in the past. Just because you're currently alive to see it doesn't mean it will be perpetual, especially given the "culture" the US wants to consolidate spearheaded by their major coastal cities and to the rest of the world (which is already being resisted).

@@Baccanaso Past monarchies and empires may have had greater size, or even military strength relative to the world. Have any of those monarchies or empires ever had the space infrastructure that the U.S. has? Have any of them ever been linked to every other country on the planet, as the U.S. is? Have any of them ever had the military reach that the U.S. has? You're also forgetting about Russia, which would presumably be an ally of Trump's America.

America is already fascist and has been for decades, the combination of government and corporations started long ago and has endured through every president in your lifetime. The idiocy that fascism is only coming from 1 party in America is so deeply ignorant I just can't continue.
@Baccanaso
@Baccanaso 8 күн бұрын
@@flamu9183 you're forgetting that the US benefits from technological advancements that have been pushed since the middle ages. Had the Roman Empire for example existed today or even the Greek City States they would be much more cruel than America and would make them mericans seem like saints. Also since the Iron Age or Classical Age China was always the center power of the world until the brits knocked on their door.
@flamu9183
@flamu9183 8 күн бұрын
@@rrmackay Except that's not even fascism. You have described an oligarchy. Fascism has only one party or dictator. Fascism is also very nationalistic, whereas global corporations are, well, global. "Fascism" doesn't just mean "bad thing," it means a nationalist, authoritarian, political movement with one central dictator or ruling party. Don't call me "deeply ignorant" when you don't even know the definition of the thing you're talking about.

As a German, it has at times honestly been shocking to learn about the political system in the US. It's insane how powerful the president is. After WW2, we restructured our system by limiting the powers of the chancellor and president, and setting up checks and balances in a more effective way. It's not as simple as leaders going bad and everyone else just following along; how the system was set up played a major role. We had checks and balances back then, but once he got in power, Hitler was able to bypass those, or even disable them entirely.

I'm not saying the system we have today is perfect, or that laws alone will be enough to deter awful, power hungry people. I agree. Freedom of religion has been twisted into the “freedom” of organized religion to do whatever they want to whomever they want without consequences, interference, or oversight as long as it’s done in the name of Jesus. Other religions get heavy restrictions and ostracism. When other religions enter the chat “freedom of religion” is replaced with “this is a Christian Nation”. If you don’t like the Christian church you’re going to, you can just go to the one across the street. But if you see a place of worship other than Christian, it’s likely to be the only one in the state, and I guarantee you local Christians are working to shut it down by hook or by crook. Real freedom of religion is the freedom to choose what religion you believe or don’t believe. To worship any god you want or no god at all. It’s not, not should it ever be the “freedom” of organized Christianity to rule the world and tell everyone what they have to believe.

I turned 40 this year....born in 83. I distinctly remember the 90s as this weird period where things were just kinda....excellent. Perfect? Of course not. But generally speaking? In between the Cold War ending....and 9/11, the economy got better and better, culture was thriving and people were loving it, and the world was relatively peaceful. Can you poke holes in all those bullet points? Of course. But compared to now? Good lord.... I have this very lucid memory of being about 12....in 1995, in history class, learning about the trials and tribulations of the past and I literally thought to myself: "Man...life now is so BORING. Nothing crazy happens anymore. Things are just...cool." I was jealous of people in the past experiencing monumental upheaval. Now....as an adult in 2023? The phrases "be careful what you wish for" and "may you live in interesting times" feel less like fun fortune cookie messages....and more like dire threats.

What I try to tell myself now is: Your thoughts and beliefs and values and decisions really MATTER now. What you do and say...or don't do and say, matters. Being ignorant or complacent isn't an option (for me). The Putin threat for you, in Germany, must feel real in a way I as an American can't fully comprehend, but I understand it for sure. Meanwhile, here in the US, the current frontrunner in the polls is a man who promises to be dictator on day one and is no longer dog-whistling full on authoritarianism, but is actually just coming right out and saying it. And the majority of voters either want that...or are comfortable enough with it to keep their head down. It's genuinely terrifying. If Trump wins, the overt public protests and unwillingness to yield to America's first ever dictator, will make the 2020 George Floyd protests look like child's play. At least I hope so. Thank you for framing this in a meaningful way. I live in NYC, and most of my liberal/progressive friends are completely unaware or only peripherally aware of the 2025 Plan, and the potentiality that it really represents. They have no idea that the Heritage Foundation is currently and quite actively vetting and training thousands of loyalist replacement candidates to take Washington on Day 1 of a Trump presidency. It would be as though an army of Stephen Millers laid siege to Washington. Around elections, people like to place outsize importance on divisive issues like trans people in womens’ sports - issues that really are not happening or going to happen at any scale - and, they dig-in and craft a political identity around fringe things like that, that the far right loves to so effectively propagandize. What even well-meaning people who fall into this trap fail to realize is that the next Trump administration, in service to the Heritage Foundation and their MANY influential backers, will not stop at the rights and protections that you so fiercely agree on. Sooner than later, they are coming after the rights and protections that matter to you. And you don’t get to say, at that point, “well, I didn’t think they would go that far. No fair!” Outright cruelty and government control over your life and choices was always the point with this platform. They are the literal antithesis of traditional conservative thinking that aims for smaller government and less interference in your personal lives; like “trickle-down” economics, these ideals have always been carefully crafted pander that bears little relationship to what Republican administrations actually do when in office. The Democrats are far from perfect. Just as with the Republicans, they are in service to capitalism and have also contributed greatly to the wealth divide in America. However, they are not this. Democracy begins its death-spiral, if the form of entrenchment that the 2025 plan represents comes to fruition. It is a 900+ page document and they are telling you exactly who they are. All voters should pay attention and heed the message before it is too late.

While the Constitution does not explicitly mention administrative agencies, it was designed to be a living document which means it can be amended to allow for flexibility to address specific needs or concerns of the times. It also provides for the ability of the government to take the necessary steps to carry out its functions as spelled out in the Document. Therefore, administrative agencies help the government carry out one of its primary functions which is to protect the rights and liberties of the people.

as horrible and terrifying as this is, they have done a very good job at getting what they want (which obviously makes it more scary). If you want people to do what you want there are a few simple steps: 1. complement them, tell them they are smart or powerful 2. align what you want with their values and show them how implementing your ideas goes along with their values 3. make it very clear (as in step-by-step instructions) what you want and how it can be done 4. offer to help The heritage foundation and especially through Project 2025 has followed this perfectly and it is terrifying. I wish that people on the left had the time and money to make this kind of concerted, structured effort to get their plans in place. One of the things that always gave me the tiniest sliver of hope was how incompetent Trump is, but with the backing of this sort of clear, no-thinking-required guidance he is more dangerous now then ever.

One of the greatest gifts given to the right-wing extremists was the word "woke". They cannot define it and that's the way the want to keep it. It can be moulded into whatever suits their needs, namely anything that they disagree with or disagrees with them is immediately defined as "woke". I believe it was initially supposed to mean that those crimes going previously unpunished would no longer be ignored or turned a blind eye on. But the Republican machinery reconceptualized it for their own purposes. It has certain Gestapo quality to its twisting of language. We certainly live in fascinating and scary times.

Something that is woke is trying to cater to any audience that is considered "oppressed" in some way. This ranges from women to PoC to lgbtq. Generally the idea is that white men suck, while everyone else has some form of virtue. It's very noticeable in many types of entertainment and honestly only making the problem worse: "You like hulk? Well here's the girl version she's much better at everything and she can control her anger, because being a woman is the most difficult thing ever. Also the villain of the story is litterally all the Hulk fans. " That's one of many examples and anyone into Hulk will feel insulted, which pushes them further into the arms of the fascists. I'm very much on the left of the political spectrum, but I think trying to understand where they're coming from, rather than trying to "gotcha" them, is a better way forward. Especially since what is actually meant by the term woke is pretty obvious. Some people take it too far, but those are on our side as well.
