PROJECT 240SMURRFX-Clearing the Engine Bay! (Ep.2)

Welcome to part two! For this episode, we hop in the engine bay and clean out the rest of the things we don't need, and get to scuffing! The 240x had been sitting a very long time, with the engine bay in dire need of a deep clean, so before we even think about painting it it has to be scuffed down. +ThatDudeinBlue I think the bay should be a really bright metallic silver, I am usually not a fan of different colour bays than exterior, but I am imagining it in my head and think it would look fantastic with a silver bay, blue exterior, and a matching blue valve cover! Would really draw attention to the motor! That's just my opinion though, love the new videos can't wait to see what you do with it!

Why is everyone giving him shit for not doing as much as his friends when David clearly has little to no experience building cars. His friends have all done this before so it's natural that he's going to be in the sidelines for this build. It's how you learn, you watch other do it the first few times, then, you do it yourself. I know it may not seem like it right now, but DUDE, I've built a TON of cars, in professional shops. The way you're going about this build, through all the ups and downs, while keeping to your goal. I can't believe you started only a year ago! I just sub'd to the channel like two weeks ago. I love these build videos! As much as I want to build my car myself (I have built cars in the past) I just can't do it with my Supra, I gotta have a performance shop do that stuff, I don't want to mess anything up when you're trying to make 1000hp lol! Keep up the good work, I had all the car knowledge in the world but no mechanical skill until I turned 16 and got my first car. I then built 2 cars after that with just me and my dad, you'll get there, you'll gain mechanical knowledge, it's only something you can learn with hands on. I taught more to myself than the shop class at my school taught me (:

David you're channel especially your build series with the 240 inspires me with my own build. I'm part of a ford family and currently drive a '01 Cobra but have recently been bringing a 1966 tbird my family has back to life. It's a Q code car (428 big block) and has a lot of rare options. This weekend hopefully my dad and I will be able to drop the motor in and see if she'll start. Even though I'm not an import guy I think your build is awesome and can totally respect it. In regards to your Tarus SHO segment I thought I would correct you on a few details. First the SHO came out in 1987 as a Yamaha/Ford venture to keep the Yamaha V-Max from being banned because its power to weight ratio was unreal when compared to the 1985 Ford Taraus with its 2.5 four cylinder. Basically a 4,000 lbs car with a 90 at best hp motor vs a 750lb bike that had over 150 hp. So you can thank the NHTSB for embarrising ford and pissing off Yamaha. And yes I owned the first gen 1987 5speed SHO that Did bust everything that pulled up beside it. 5.0 fox body, and surprisingly enough anything GM had at the time. So many disappointed corvette owners. Loved that car and owe my life to it because if I'd got the gt convertible I was wanting id never survived a terrible head on collision with a damn drunk driver. Remember your seven P's. Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance! Take your time, think it out. Doing it right the first time can save you the huge headache of having to fix it later. Remember one hour extra of hard work can mean the difference between great and perfect. It is also a good idea to walk away from a project for some time to allow some insight on certain things to develop. Google and knowledgeable friends are indispensable resources when attacking challenges like you are about to face on this engine swap. It is looking great so far, stay motivated!
